Hogwarts: The Wizarding World's First Capitalist

Chapter 139 Rules Above Everything

After the speech, applause broke out and everyone present applauded. The warm applause echoed in the room.

The only difference from the past was that usually the applause was only given to one person, but at this long table, there were two people standing.

Carl, who was sitting at the head of the table, looked at Umbridge, who was sitting at the end, with a playful look in his eyes.

He had long known that the British Ministry of Magic, although seemingly solid, had actually fallen apart to a certain extent.

As a wealthy man who has been feeding these mice for a long time, he can easily deduce all this just by looking at the accounts.

After all, no matter what their identities are, the way people get along with each other is ultimately about the distribution of interests.

Compared to himself, those high-ranking officials in the Ministry of Magic were much more corrupt. After all, he distributed nearly half of the profits to all his partners.

The group of senior officials headed by Cornelius Fudge refused to even agree to a 55% split, not to mention a 37% split.

It's a 91- split. For the grassroots employees of the Ministry of Magic, except for some improvement in their welfare, all the gray income has basically nothing to do with them.

Middle-level officials can only get a very small portion, and 90% is pocketed by senior officials.

As the minister's personal secretary, he naturally ate a lot of food, as did other officials present.

He had long been dissatisfied with this squeaking toad, and seeing a chance to vent his anger, he was of course willing to stand on Carl's side.

Through this simple test, Carl verified his guess and was ready to implement the next plan.

He turned to look at old Crouch beside him and said calmly.

"Respected leader of the investigation team, although I know that some people always like to speak beyond their authority regardless of their position."

"But I think what the secretary said makes a lot of sense. We must follow the rules."

"It's just that I'm a little unclear about the legal rules regarding finance."

Old Crouch was a little confused when asked the question. He had already made plans to take the blame before coming here.

I have never thought of myself as a real leader, but the young man in front of me did a few simple operations.

Afterwards, the power of hosting the case was really returned to him, but he was unprepared for the moment and could only stand there in a daze.

Fortunately, Jonathan, who was next to him, seemed to know some legal knowledge about this matter, so he quickly came to his rescue.

"Hohenzollern Director, Mr. Crouch doesn't know much about this. I can explain it to you."

"According to British law, you must hand over all the accounting information within the specified time period of the investigation."

"Submit it to an independent auditor for audit. You can only resume normal operations after all the information has been audited."

"And before that, you must be available for investigation at the designated time and place at any time."

"Isn't this double supervision?" Hearing this, Carl felt somewhat uncomfortable and quickly glanced at Professor Snape.

Professor Snape had a sullen face. This little bastard was just like that old guy. He always made himself do things that offended others.

But even though he cursed in his heart, he had to do it, so he took out his wand and waved it gently.

Several documents that looked like Oxford dictionaries appeared in front of all the Ministry of Magic officials present.

While everyone was looking around in confusion, he just explained calmly.

"This one in front of you is what you want."

"This is too thick." Looking at the "big brick" in front of them, several officials couldn't help but say.

Professor Snape snorted coldly and said with disdain.

"What are you thinking? This is just a directory, and it's in alphabetical order, only up to K."

"There are several more catalogues like this one. As for all the account details? The real legal representative of the bank has already sent them to the British Ministry of Magic."

"I hope to get a satisfactory answer after the professional senior talents in your department have read and audited all of them."

Having said this, it was basically a half-showdown, and everyone present looked at the large book in front of them and began to whisper to each other.

The Auror named Jonathan just glanced through the "catalog" in front of him.

He immediately lowered his voice and spoke to old Crouch beside him.

"It seems that they have been prepared for this. Mr. Malfoy has been contacting people in the Ministry in recent days."

"We came here today to get an explanation. If we really investigate further, I'm afraid it will not be good for us."

"Besides, this matter itself has nothing to do with us. We will have no time to do it after we finish it. Besides, this is Hogwarts. If we take a wrong step, we will be blamed for it."

"In the end, we won't get much of the money anyway, so we might as well just go ahead and leave."

Old Crouch was a little hesitant. On the one hand, he thought that he would be responsible if he just left like that.

On the other hand, he always felt that this matter would not be so simple. The young man in front of him would never be as sunny and calm as he looked.

He must be planning something, so old Crouch waved his hand to signal the other party not to act rashly and to sit for a while and see how the situation develops.

As he expected, Umbridge, who had felt embarrassed several times, saw the situation come to this point.

It jumped out immediately and started croaking again.

"No, even if we follow the procedures, there is nothing wrong with what you said, but the investigation team has come to Hogwarts."

"It's not just for this matter. The recent academic performance of Hogwarts has made Mr. Cornelius Fudge very dissatisfied."

"In order to prevent future hidden dangers, I have decided to stay here for a week to rectify the academic style of Hogwarts."

This was a complete lack of respect, and the other officials present looked at each other with disgusting and weird eyes.

Some of the more senior people even spoke directly.

"Before we set off, it seems that the Minister did not mention this matter at the meeting, and you were the first to set the tone before."

"This investigation is required to fully comply with the procedural regulations. What you are doing is not in compliance with the rules."

"That's right. According to your position, you are just an ordinary employee. Hogwarts is under the management of the British Ministry of Magic."

"Don't forget that Headmaster Dumbledore is the Chief Wizard of the Wizengamot. Without the order signed by the Minister himself, he will be in trouble."

"Or is there any convincing reason why you are not qualified to stay in Hogwarts."

It is obvious that these people do not want to be too deeply involved in this matter, as Britain has a centuries-old civil service tradition.

Everyone present here is a shrewd person. The so-called independent investigation has always been a formality. How can it be a real investigation?

If something is really revealed during the investigation, everyone present will be implicated, so they should retreat as soon as possible.

Umbridge's actions have already angered the public.

Carl looked at these guys with disdain, but he also took this opportunity to teach the screaming toad in front of him a lesson.

So he pretended to have just remembered something, looked at Umbridge, and asked in a deliberately sarcastic tone.

"There are some things going on in Hogwarts recently, but I don't know if this respected lady can make the decision."

"After all, mobilizing Aurors requires an order from the Minister of Magic."
