Hogwarts: The Wizarding World's First Capitalist

Chapter 501: Thoughts on the Central Government of the Magical World

As soon as he finished speaking, almost all the senior officials present turned their eyes to Mr. Barty Crouch Sr.

Only a few of them turned their eyes to Cornelius Fudge, who was sitting at the end of the long table without saying a word.

It is obvious that the other party's behavior just now has caused him to lose the trust and respect of most senior officials.

Even though the other party is still the Minister of Magic in name, but now, in the hearts of most senior officials of the Ministry of Magic.

Old Barty Crouch's opinion probably carries more weight.

The other party did not disappoint these people's gaze and asked back in a very firm tone.

"What kind of contract is this? Is there anything in the current British wizarding world that you would like to see?"

"I'm afraid the only thing we can sell now is our dignity and honor. I'm very sorry, Mr. Hohenzollern."

"In my case, those two things are not for sale."

"It's just a joke, sir." Carl's tone began to slow down, not as aggressive as before. He looked at old Barty Crouch with a smile and spoke calmly.

“Honor and dignity may be worthless to some people, but to others, they may be worth a fortune.”

"This kind of thing is really hard to estimate. I don't like uncertainty, so the price I offer must be something you can afford."

"However, the current British Ministry of Magic may not be able to come up with it, but the first British wizarding government is about to be established."

"I think I can get what I want."

"Government? What does he mean by government?"

"There are only so many wizards in the British wizarding world. Do we still need a government to govern them?"

"The entire wizarding world doesn't have a central government. Are we in the British wizarding world going to be the first to have one?"

As soon as Karl finished speaking, the senior officials who had remained silent immediately started discussing. Some of them had no idea what the government meant at all.

Some people are more familiar with Muggle society and have a basic understanding of the meaning and function of the term government.

But I don't understand why a government should be set up. After all, the population of the British wizarding world is so small, and the size of the Ministry of Magic itself is already bloated enough.

If a government is established, then all wizards will have to become civil servants. Who will be in charge then?

Everyone was discussing the issue enthusiastically, and after chattering for a long time, no consensus could be reached.

Finally it was old Barty Crouch who spoke.

"Establishing a national government, isn't this topic a bit too joking? Not to mention, this will disrupt the balance between us and the Muggles for so many years."

"And even from a realistic perspective, the British wizarding world has such a small wizarding population that it does not need a fully functional government to manage it."

"The establishment of such an organization will not only cause the already embarrassing financial situation of the British wizarding world to collapse completely."

“I really don’t see any benefit.”

"If it is just the British wizarding world, then it is certainly not worth doing this. But if it is to prepare for the future central government of the entire wizarding world."

Carl kept a smile on his face, and his blue eyes scanned the puzzled people present.

"Then I guess this is a good deal!!"

"The central government of the entire wizarding world, what does he mean by that? Didn't he wake up this morning?"

"Grindelwald didn't even think about ruling the entire wizarding world back then. This Mr. Hohenzollern is really eye-opening."

"A central government for wizards all over the world, this is probably not even a fantasy anymore."

After Carl finished speaking, almost all the senior officials present were pessimistic about this idea. In fact, it was not their fault to be pessimistic.

I don't know since wizards took the initiative to separate themselves from Muggles and formed an independent society hidden outside of Muggle society.

Nearly five centuries have passed, and during this long period of time, countless gifted, powerful and long-lived wizards have appeared.

But even they, those great white wizards who were praised by people, had never thought of establishing a unified wizard government.

Or those powerful dark wizards who are dubbed the Demon King, who may have actually ruled the wizarding community of one or two countries, perhaps spiritually or violently.

But no one has ever established a real ruling body in terms of system.

Carl's ideas were too advanced for them, just like a modern person traveling back to ancient times.

Talk to people of that time about the convenience of modern life and how humans built rockets and flew to the moon.

It tells how to use a mobile phone to communicate with people thousands of miles away. People of that time might find this story very interesting.

People praised its imagination a lot, but absolutely no one would believe that it was true, or that famous psychological prophecy.

It is actually very difficult for humans to imagine things that far exceed their own cognition.

Just like the high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Magic present, they simply could not imagine or understand Carl's thoughts.

There was no laughing or mocking in public, but only fear of the other party's powerful strength.

However, there was one exception, and that was old Barty Crouch, ever since Carl had expressed the government's idea.

In fact, he did not directly deny the other party, but simply stated his own point of view and wanted to discuss this possibility with the other party.

So amid the chattering atmosphere, he spoke again.

"Okay Mr. Hohenzollern, let's put your great idea aside for now and not explore the possibility of success."

"Let's first assume a premise. If we are willing to agree to this condition, what methods are you going to use to save the current British wizarding world?"

"Compared to that distant but beautiful dream, whether we have money to buy food after get off work is what we should care about more."

His words instantly resonated with many people, and many senior officials began to complain about the hard times they had experienced in the past two months.

I haven't had any decent meals for a month, let alone buying Christmas presents and new clothes for my children.

The misery in the words is palpable. You have to know that everyone here belongs to the upper class after all, and their families have some savings.

But listening to their tone and the content of their crying, it is hard to doubt its authenticity. At least from now on, at least 90% of what these people say is true.

If this is the case for them, the lives of other ordinary wizards in the British wizarding world may have reached an unimaginable level.

The reason why no major riots occurred was simply because food and clothing were not a problem.
