Be in low spirits

Chapter 57 Travel

Li Li packed up the camping stuff. Kong Zhixi dressed herself up and changed into her newly bought skirt. Li Li stared at the half of her legs that were exposed and stuffed the toilet water back into his bag.

"How is it?" Kong Zhixi turned around and asked. Li Li stepped forward, held her head, kissed her hard, and said, "My wife, you are beautiful no matter what." Kong Zhixi pushed him away, wiped her mouth with the back of her hand, and complained, "Hey~ I just put on lipstick!" Then she went to put on lipstick again.

In the dean's office, a middle-aged man sat on a chair, fiddling with the succulents planted on the windowsill. The person behind him said, "Dean Jiang, if he wakes up, these things can't be hidden anymore."

"I can't wake up, don't worry."

"But Yiming... said it's possible."

The middle-aged man turned around and said, "How could I not understand Yiming's skills?"

"What about that little police officer?"

"There's nothing to be afraid of the small police officer. As for her appearance at the scene, it must be just a coincidence. She has no evidence in her hands." Director Jiang's face was calm. The two policemen were staying in this hospital, and their lives were uncertain.

"But Captain Li's family... is not easy to deal with."

Jiang Yuanzhang waved his hand and said, "It's not difficult to deal with businessmen. Go back. I'll tell you when I have news."

"Excuse me, Dr. Jiang." The man said goodbye to the director, leaned on his crutches, and went to the hospital gate to wait for the driver to pick him up. Li Li's second operation went smoothly. Yiming looked at the data on the electrocardiogram, recorded it, and said a few words to the nurse in charge before leaving the ward. Li Li's mother followed him and asked anxiously, "Doctor Jiang, when will my Li Li wake up?"

"Aunt Liang, I have answered this question for you. Whether he can wake up depends on his desire to survive. What we can do now is to spend more time with him." Jiang Yiming knew that the hope was slim, but he wanted to try again.

"Then...where's the little hole?"

"Officer Kong can wake up, don't worry." He replied affirmatively and went to check other wards. Aunt Liang looked at her son wearing a ventilator through the glass window with distress, and she was worried.

Kong's mother turned Kong Zhixi over, wiped her body, tidied herself up, and went to the ICU to check on Li Li, comforted Li Li's mother, and brought her some food.

"Li Li is a good kid. Good things will happen to him."

Aunt Liang nodded, pulled her to sit on a stool in the corridor, and asked, "Xixi, did I really not tell you about her marriage to Li Li?"

Kong's mother was a little embarrassed. They knew all these things because she was injured and hospitalized. She only told them that there was a dormitory at her workplace and she lived outside all year round and only went home occasionally for dinner. She didn't get along with his father in the first place. She came home less often, but she quarreled with his father just as often. "Xixi doesn't like his father. There are some things he doesn't want to tell us too much."

Aunt Liang nodded. "No wonder she always refused to meet you before. I thought..."

Mother Kong was more open-minded: "When she wakes up, she will discuss it with us." Aunt Liang nodded again, then sighed, looked in the direction of the ICU and said: "I don't know when Li Li will wake up."

"Doctor Jiang said he would wake up, so we should be optimistic. You should go back and have a good rest. Otherwise, when Li Li wakes up, you will collapse again. That will be unacceptable." Mother Kong pulled her to Kong Zhixi's bed, opened the soup in the thermos lunch box, handed it to her, and said, "Here, drink some. You haven't eaten anything recently."

"When Xixi wakes up, I'll call Li Li's dad over, and we'll have a good meal as a family." Aunt Liang also hoped to divert her attention.

Kong's mother was a little worried: "Hey, I don't know what his father thinks. When she wakes up, I guess the father and daughter will have another big fight."

Aunt Liang's face wasn't very good either. "There's no overnight hatred between father and daughter." Mother Kong glanced at her and nodded reluctantly.

The wind in the countryside smelled of grass. Kong Zhixi took a deep breath, but only smelled alcohol. Thinking that her nose was not good, she touched the tip of her nose and found a kettle to make tea.

Li Li looked at her affectionately without saying anything. He knew she was about to leave.

"Let's talk about the past?" Kong Zhixi felt a little awkward because he was always staring at her. She poured him a cup of tea and started a conversation. Li Li's eyes drooped as he thought of his past.

"I thought you knew." He said self-deprecatingly, lowering his head to take a sip of tea. "I know?" Did this Li Li think that all her memories were connected?

"In the past, I lived with my grandmother. Later, when I was about to go to school, my parents took me back to the city. They were always busy with business and rarely took care of me. Later..." He turned his head to look at her here and did not continue for a long time.

Seeing that he hadn't continued, Kong Zhixi asked, "What happened next?"

"Then I met Xixi. We went to school together, went home together, and did homework together. Sometimes when my parents were not at home, I had to go to her house for dinner." He stared at her again, hoping that she would be angry, but also afraid that she would be angry. Kong Zhixi took a sip of tea and nodded.

"She had never been in good health, and when she died eight years ago, I was sad for a long time."

"No wonder." Kong Zhixi suddenly figured something out.

"What?" Li Li didn't understand.

Kong Zhixi rolled her eyes at him and explained, "No wonder she has red hair here. She probably never dyed her hair because of her poor health."

Li Li thought about it and suddenly realized: "If you hadn't told me, I wouldn't have noticed it!"

"Actually, you had a memorable relationship, right?" Kong Zhixi asked him with a smile.

This made Li Li feel guilty. He pursed his lips and thought about how to explain to her. "Well... Actually, it's not unforgettable. We were still young at that time... How could we understand what love is? It's just... I just followed the trend. It's not... Besides, we... It's nothing, there's no excessive behavior, it's just... Just holding hands..."

Kong Zhixi found it funny. He would get nervous every time he felt guilty. His voice would tremble a little when he spoke, and his legs would shake unconsciously. She teased him intentionally: "Hey, just holding hands!"

"You don't believe it? Really, if you don't believe it, you can ask Cheng Xi!" He began to get a little anxious, fearing that she wouldn't believe it.

Kong Zhixi covered her mouth and laughed out loud, and the teacup in her hand shook. Li Li put down the cup, widened his eyes, pointed at her and said, "Okay! You dare to laugh at me!"

Kong Zhixi put down the teacup and waved her hand: "No, no, I don't dare, I don't dare to laugh at you."

"You just know how to laugh at me, why don't you tell me something about yourself." Kong Zhixi stopped laughing after hearing what he said. "I... I studied game design, and later I took the exam to become a police officer. I just... I can't remember why I came here, and I always feel like someone is waiting for me to go back."

Li Li didn't say anything either. He had known that this day would come.

"Zhang Huizhi...haven't you found her yet?" Kong Zhixi asked suddenly. Li Li sighed and shook his head. He knew where she was, but here, she would never find her.

Kong Zhixi sat on the chair, holding a teacup, looking into the distance, thinking about the many things that happened since she came here, "I always feel like many things haven't been resolved. Don't you find it strange?"

Li Li just nodded without explaining. "If you go back, will you remember me?" Kong Zhixi also began to avoid the question. Everything in the countryside seemed beautiful, but both of them had their own concerns.

Jia Jia often hangs out with Cheng Xi. Cheng Xi gives her a holiday and takes her to travel to other cities. He sends some photos to Kong Zhixi from time to time. She looks at them with envy, thinking of her own travels in the past. Those were the only days when she was free.

In the ward, Kong's mother pressed the button on the bed and shouted, "Nurse, nurse, she seems to be waking up, come and have a look!" Doctor Jiang came over, shone a flashlight into her eyes, and comforted her, "She hasn't woken up yet. She needs to rest well during this period. Auntie, there will be nurses to take care of her in the hospital. It is recommended that you come less often."

Kong's mother then sat down again and wanted to say something, but after looking at the doctor, she had to give up.
