I'm a hero in Marvel

Chapter 12 Destruction

A fire broke out in the morgue of the Metropolitan Hospital. Although the fire brigade arrived at the scene and conducted a careful investigation, they did not find any abnormal signs. In the end, they could only speculate that the fire was caused by a short circuit caused by the hospital's aging electrical wires.

Although the explanation given by the fire department seemed reasonable, Li Jie had doubts about it and was supported by Peter and George. He thought something was fishy: first, Congressman Macaulay was killed by a suspected mutant, and the congressman himself was also a mutant; then a fire broke out in the morgue, which seemed like an intentional accident.

Li Jie suspected that someone had deliberately destroyed the evidence, and this evidence might be the remains of Congressman Macaulay. He looked at the extinguished fire for a while and felt that he could not easily draw a conclusion based on the aging of the wires. If it was true, it would be too coincidental.

Although George Stacy agreed with Li Jie's opinion, he had no idea about the real intention behind it. It was already early in the morning, and Li Jie decided to talk to Professor Charles of the Mutant School the next morning, because Charles was a leader in the mutant community and might be able to provide some information.

Li Jie suggested to George that the body of Congressman Macaulay should be kept by him as a key piece of evidence to prevent it from being damaged again, and George's help in communicating with the police was needed. George was not a stubborn person, and he nodded in agreement after weighing the pros and cons, and emphasized that this important piece of evidence should be properly kept.

The next morning, Li Jie rushed to the mutant school with questions and saw an unusual scene: all the mutant teachers were busy running in and out of the school, holding all kinds of information and documents. Some of them moved the items to the Blackbird fighter jets, while others used the ability of flashing to shuttle and move them, and their destination was unknown.

It was not until Li Jie found Storm to ask about the situation that she revealed that they were moving and might never come back. Storm's tone was full of melancholy, which reminded Li Jie of the fact that he had just left the villa where Senator Macaulay died yesterday and the mutant school was going to move today. He couldn't help but wonder if it was related to Macaulay's death.

A series of bad possibilities surged in Li Jie's mind until he stepped into Professor Charles' office. Charles in front of him looked exhausted, like an old man in his twilight years, not the leader of mutants.

Li Jie anxiously questioned Charles why they had to leave and whether Senator Macaulay was really killed by his mutants. However, Charles looked indifferent and said that it didn't matter who the murderer was. The school could no longer be saved and was no longer a safe haven for mutants. They all had to leave.

Charles' negative attitude angered Li Jie. He remembered that he risked his life to rescue the body of Congressman Macaulay from the fire yesterday in order to prevent unknown risks, but now Charles said it was unimportant.

Bang! Bang! Li Jie pounded the professor's desk angrily, his eyes full of dissatisfaction with Charles's behavior.

Charles' Adam's apple moved, and he finally told the truth slowly: "It was Magneto who planned all this. He knew where my weakness was, and everything was within his calculations. I lost, completely lost."

The professor slowly told Li Jie everything that happened last night. Li Jie became more and more shocked, and found that Magneto's plan this time was really unfathomable. It can be said that the professor's original prediction and action were not wrong.

However, because he knew Professor Charles' character very well, Magneto could always predict what Charles would do next. So he carefully designed a series of strategies and successfully involved Charles. The result of Charles falling into the scheme was very direct, and he was used as a pawn by Magneto.

At this moment, if the truth were to come out, the school would certainly be in danger. More importantly, the mutant children in the school, who were the group Charles cared about the most, were very likely to become innocent victims in this incident.

"Bang!" The sound of heavy punches on the desk came from the office again. Li Jie was extremely angry when he learned about Magneto's plan. He couldn't help but think: Can't you let me live a few days of peace and tranquility?

Why do you villains have to jump out and cause trouble? Ah! Isn't it nice for everyone to have a good time eating hot pot and singing? Why do you want to stir up a mutant revolution and promote mutantism? Aren't you just looking for trouble, Eric!

Li Jie was very indignant about this: "This is simply stupid. How many innocent ordinary mutants will be affected by Magneto's plan, and how many ordinary people will lose their lives. What he is doing is no longer as simple as sacrificing countless lives to achieve great things. He wants to establish his own regime on the corpses of human beings!"

Professor Charles also agreed with Li Jie's point of view on this point: "He no longer cares. His goal is to unify the power of all mutants, and I have become a thorn in his side. After this incident, I think the moderates among mutants probably won't exist anymore." Charles said, revealing his disappointment.

"Don't lose heart, professor. At least there is still hope, and things may not get so bad. At least Senator Macaulay's testimony is still there, and we still have evidence." Li Jie comforted.

"Even if there is evidence, it's useless because the Stryker base was indeed destroyed by the people I sent. Do you think the government will still believe what I said?" Charles shook his head helplessly.

"Alas--" Li Jie sighed. "Well, professor, I was planning to tell you about this later. But now that the situation has developed to this point, it seems that I can only tell you in advance. But before that, you'd better seal this room. I don't want anyone to hear what we are going to talk about next."

Li Jie said this to Charles in an unprecedented serious tone. Although Charles was puzzled, he still did as he was told and used his superpowers to isolate the room.

"Although the government may no longer believe your explanation, we may have other solutions. And you may also do something for mutants and ordinary people, for our plan."

"I don't mind using my powers as long as they are used for the right things. So, what is this plan you are talking about?"

“An organization.”

“What organization?”

“The Illuminati!”

Starting from the early morning, the children of the mutant school were awakened one by one and then taken to the common room to wait. All the mutant children did not know what was going on, and they put on their clothes as required by the teacher.

Some younger children were still very excited, thinking that this was a special class and that perhaps a teacher used his teleportation ability to send them to the other side of the earth to visit scenic spots!

The older students noticed something was wrong from the nervous expressions of their teachers. Katie was one of them. She felt uneasy and always felt that something big was going to happen in school.

Sure enough, what happened next did develop in the bad direction she expected, even worse than she imagined!

The school started to dismiss students!

This is undoubtedly the worst news for many mutant children, and it is like a bolt from the blue. If mutant children in other schools accidentally show their mutant abilities, they will often be excluded because they are different.

Worse still, some children face discrimination, like Katie, whose abilities, while not harmful in themselves, cost her a part-time job at a coffee shop.

Many children began to cry. They were reluctant to leave because even their parents outside might not accept them. Only in this mutant school could they feel the warmth of home.

Many children burst into tears, even the senior students had tears in their eyes. However, this time, the teachers were heartless and did not give them any explanation. Instead, they began to escort all the children home.

The first to be sent away are the younger children, who cry the most and are too young to protect themselves. If the worst happens and the school is attacked, they will be the most vulnerable.

After a night of evacuation efforts, the campus, which was once bustling with hundreds of students, now seemed exceptionally empty.

There were a lot of scraps of paper scattered on the floor of the corridor, and only about 30 senior students were left in the common room. The teachers arranged for them to be dismissed in the last batch. Little Naughty, who was one grade higher than Katie, kept crying and whispering repeatedly: "What's going on, what's going on!" However, no one could give an answer. Iceman Bob patted Little Naughty's back weakly, trying to give her some encouragement and comfort, but in fact he was also confused in his heart.
