I'm a hero in Marvel

Chapter 2 Wolverine

When everyone thought that what happened at Xavier's School for Gifted People was a thing of the past, Paul found Daken in the common room during his evening break.

"Hi, Daken. I know some little secrets about Katie, do you want to know?" Paul looked at Daken with a smile on his lips.

It was already 8 o'clock in the evening. For the students of Xavier School for Gifted People, they were either doing their homework in the library or playing with something in the common room to kill time, because the school's lights-out time was set at 10 o'clock in the evening.

Therefore, the children still have plenty of time to play and have fun at night. However, at this time, there will be no more students on the school lawn. After all, what are they doing on the lawn at night?

Paul led Daken out of the common room, and the two strolled on the lawn inside the school. Because the school is located in a more remote area in the suburbs of New York, the light pollution here is not as serious as in the center of New York City.

Therefore, on a clear night, you can see many twinkling stars. With the twinkling stars in the sky, Paul and Deacon walked to a bench next to the lawn and sat down.

Paul mentioned some little secrets about Katie, and Daken followed him out without much thought. Although Daken came to the mutant school and met a group of classmates with the same identity and level, he was still not very good at communicating with others. This was due to his life experience in the first fifteen years, which made his personality a little closed, which was understandable.

However, the strange thing is that for some reason, Daken always feels that Paul is different from others. In the few times they met, Paul won Daken's favor. The two of them felt that they had met too late and had a very pleasant conversation.

For example, regarding his crush on Katie, Daken never thought of telling his father Wolverine, but instead accidentally revealed the secret in a casual chat with Paul.

When you accidentally reveal your secret to someone, deep down in your heart, you actually trust this person more.

As for Paul, Deacon has a similar sense of trust. The interactions between people often have no clear logic, nor many reasons to explain, just like the situation between Deacon and Paul.

"I apologize for the trouble my impulsiveness caused you last time." Deacon was referring to the last time he was so hot-blooded on campus that he wanted to kill Li Jie immediately.

Paul shook his head. "No need to apologize. It's nothing. If the girl I love deeply was taken away by someone, I would probably lose my mind and want to kill that person. It's just that your behavior was too radical that time. I really didn't expect it at the time, and that's why you were put in solitary confinement."

Daken shrugged. "It doesn't matter. I'm used to things like confinement. I've experienced worse times before."

Paul smiled, looked at the starry sky, and said with emotion: "You know, Daken. People like us, mutants, are actually very difficult to integrate into society."

"There will always be people harassing us in various ways. Some are afraid of us, some are terrified of us, and there are also those who harbor ill will towards us and even try to take advantage of us. This world is not fair to us mutants, and it can even be said to be quite cruel!"

Daken agrees with Paul's words, because he has experienced far more cruel things than these. In his opinion, the world where even his own mother cannot be trusted is extremely malicious.

If Logan hadn't appeared and taken him away from the East, Daken didn't know how long he could have lasted in this environment. That crazy and painful life tortured him every moment. Maybe one day, his nerves would suddenly collapse and he would become a soulless puppet at the mercy of others.

Daken doesn't want to recall that life. For him, the life he has now is what he longs for. He has a father, even though he doesn't know how to express his fatherly love, but at least he is much better than Mariko.

In addition, there is a group of companions here. Although not everyone can become a friend, since everyone is a mutant, there will be no discrimination or fear when getting along with each other.

This is a state of life that makes people feel comfortable and at ease, coupled with the beautiful and charming girl Katie. When Daken saw her for the first time, he knew that from that moment on, every beat of his heart was timing this encounter.

From then on, I opened my eyes every morning just to see that girl’s smile again.

She is like the dew on the petals in the morning, like the morning star in the night sky; she is like the most mouth-watering honey in the world, and like the last orchid in the valley.

Just like the stars accompany the sun and the moon, just like white clouds decorate the blue sky; just like rivers will eventually flow into the sea, just like flying birds will eventually land.

When the moment becomes eternity, when the glance back turns into a vow.

Her laughter became the morning bell and evening drum in my heart, and her light and cheerful steps were the most moving dance steps in the world.

I fall for you and make an eternal vow for you. Like a knight loyal to the empire, I will never retreat on the road to charge for you until the moment my body is stepped on by someone.

My soul will eventually return to you, and you are everything to me, my goddess - Katie.

Daken's love is suppressed yet fierce, which may be related to the lack of love and care he has suffered over the years.

Paul looked up at the sky and continued, "I am different from you and the other students inside. We are the same kind of people, Daken. I know it very well. I felt this way when I first saw you."

Paul glanced at Daken briefly.

"I used to kill people. They were my adoptive parents." He said calmly, "When my parents found out that I was a mutant, they abandoned me. Then the government gave me to adoptive parents."

"If adopting me hadn't allowed them to get some government subsidies, I guess they wouldn't have adopted me. They didn't treat me very well." Paul said with a smile, without going into detail about how badly his adoptive parents treated him.

"As my abilities grew, I killed them. It's hard for normal people and mutants to live in peace. I've always believed that only mutants can truly save mutants."

"Do you know how Katie met that Jason?" Paul changed the subject and mentioned something about Katie.

"What's going on?" Daken was still very interested in Katie.

"I heard it from her best friend. Katie used to work in a cafe, but she lost the job due to the fierce criticism of the society against the mutant issue." Paul continued in a low voice.

"Once she accidentally revealed her superpowers, the customers at the cafe started to discriminate against her. They were afraid of her and even wanted to hurt her!"

Hearing that someone wanted to hurt Katie, Daken couldn't help but clench his fists.

"Just then, Jason showed up and helped her solve those problems, so Katie immediately got so close to this man." After Paul finished speaking, Daken couldn't help but feel a little regretful. Now it seemed that he had no chance to play the role of a hero saving a beautiful woman. What's worse, the last time he tried to kill Li Jie in front of Katie, Katie left a very bad impression of him.

Now, whenever Katie saw Daken in the corridor, she would deliberately take a detour. If she had to avoid him, she would pretend that she didn't see him at all.

To be honest, Katie had tried her best to restrain herself. After all, Li Jie was her best friend, and she actually wanted to find an opportunity to teach Daken a lesson.

However, Katie's indifference towards him alone was enough to frustrate Daken.

"I wish I had been there." Daken sighed helplessly.

"So what if you were there?" Paul said with a hint of self-mockery, "You are also a mutant. Are you going to kill those people in public and become a wanted criminal?"

"Finally, you and Katie will be arrested together. If you are lucky, the state court may sentence you to a fixed-term imprisonment. But if you are unlucky, you will be sent to the laboratory as experimental subjects. What can you do then?"

Paul's words made Deacon feel very discouraged, and he didn't know how to respond for a moment.

"I like my current life, Daken. Going to school every day, studying with classmates, playing with friends, and being with people I like - these days are so good. I don't want to see anyone ruin all this." Paul's words were met with repeated nods from Daken.

"I don't like such a peaceful life being disturbed either, Paul. This is the life I yearn for."

Paul listened to Daken's words and smiled faintly, without commenting. "But some people don't want us to live such a stable life forever. Have you heard of Macaulay?"

"I've heard my father mention him occasionally, but I don't really know much about him." Daken shook his head.

"That's right. Professor Charles hopes to turn this place into a greenhouse so that we 'flowers' can grow safely here. But although the greenhouse isolates the wind and rain, it does not mean that there is no wind and rain in the outside world." Paul began to explain.

"Macauley is a guy who hates mutants extremely. He has great influence in the government and has a lot of say in the media. He has been pushing for a bill - what he calls the 'Mutant Management Bill'!"

Paul gritted his teeth as he pronounced these words. "But the so-called mutant management bill is actually no different from the concentration camp policy against the Jews seventy years ago. The reason Katie exposed her mutant identity was because she was frightened by Macaulay's speech on TV."

Hearing this, Daken couldn't help but frown.

"I said, I like my life now, Daken," Paul said firmly.

"At the same time, I also believe that only mutants can truly save mutants. I don't pin my hopes on others. I hope that the people I care about can live in a land that is safe for mutants."

"To achieve this, we need to take action. I tell you the truth, Macaulay is on TV promoting his mutant management bill. As long as you search carefully on the Internet, I believe you can find relevant information."

"He wants to put me, you, Katie, and everyone like us in a cage and keep us there to die. We have to do something."

"Professor Charles is a good man, but he always puts his hopes on others. I think we should take the initiative."

Paul's eyes sparkled with a firm belief. "Mutants should fight for the future of mutants!"

Daken whispered, "So what do you want to do?"

"I'm going to kill someone, would you like to join me?"

Although the Mutant School is located in the suburbs of New York City and adopts a semi-closed teaching method, this does not mean that Charles will let his students study and live in this closed state all the time.
