I'm a hero in Marvel

Chapter 84 Doubt

Roland and Li Jie stared at each other in the empty corridor. The vending machine had already spit out the three bottles of drinks that Li Jie had selected, and they fell into the basket under the machine with a thumping sound.

The noise in the basketball hall seemed to disappear in an instant. Li Jie felt that this girl, Roland, was very strange, so strange that she didn't fit in with the world around her.

She stood there and spoke: "Do you doubt what I just said?" Roland stared at Li Jie quietly.

"You don't have to worry about someone eavesdropping here or anything like that." Roland said calmly, "Because I can see many things that others can't see."

Li Jie stretched out his hand to signal Roland to stop: "Student Roland, that's enough. No matter what game you want to play, or what prank you want to play before graduation, I admit defeat. I can buy you a bottle of drink, but please stop saying these weird things."

Li Jie said as he picked up a bottle of Coke and threw it to Roland, and at the same time bought a new bottle.

Roland steadily caught the Coke that Li Jie threw to him, walked slowly past Li Jie, and said, "Whether you want to listen or not, some things are there and will not change. Just like when you handed me the Coke after I said those words to you. Do you know why?"

Roland's footsteps were light: "Because the past determines the future. No matter how people think they can change the future, in fact, the future has been determined when they think about it."

"The past is fixed, and the future is fluid. When the roaring river is frozen by layers of ice, everything begins to move in the predetermined direction. It doesn't matter whether your name is Jason or some other masked hero." Roland unscrewed the Coke and took a sip.

"I just want to tell you one thing, I can see things that you can't see! The blue past and the golden future! The timelines of the past are intertwined into a chain, and the golden future gradually loses its vitality in the deep blue past." Roland's words made Li Jie frown.

He believes that SHIELD has a reason to protect the girl. This is especially evident when Captain Rogers, after Nick was removed from his post, even distrusts some of SHIELD's agents, and relies on his own cronies and outside organizations like Nightwatch.

If what Roland said was true and she could see the timeline, then her value was self-evident. She must be at the highest level, and it was estimated that only a small number of people within SHIELD knew of her existence.

But why did she come to chat with him for no reason? Li Jie was confused. Was he really exposed? Even if he was exposed, why did she tell him this?

"Our thoughts and actions, the moment our deeds become the past, they determine the future. Just like if I drink half a bottle of Coke in one breath, I will definitely burp after a while." Roland shook the Coke in her hand, and the carbonated drink stirred up bubbles in her hand.

"That's just the effect of carbon dioxide, that's all." Li Jie shook his head.

However, Roland did not accept Li Jie's point of view: "It's not just CO2, it's the future. Because I made this choice, I got this future. The past determines the future!"

"Because I can see and I know. Everything is so powerless! I know what is going to happen, but I can't stop it. Because the future has been locked in the past. Even if I can see the future, it is just a part of the future design." Roland took a big gulp of Coke, drank half a bottle in one breath, and then burped happily.

She didn't care at all whether it was rude for a pretty girl to do this. She laughed heartily, but her tone was filled with an inexplicable enthusiasm: "Look, life is so boring. When you know all the endings but are powerless to change them, you can only become a manipulated pawn, being manipulated and rewritten at will."

"I saw the trouble SHIELD and Nick Fury would get into, with that half-vampire Deacon Firth. I warned them, but the result was still the same. Nothing changed. I flicked the beautiful timeline, but I could only succumb to it all. Me, us, everyone! We are just marionettes, a blue string, a golden string, that's all our lives!"

Li Jie wondered if the girl was drunk. He said, "Okay, Miss Roland. Do you want me to take you back to your companions? Or do you want me to take you somewhere to rest?"

Roland ignored Li Jie's words and just smiled and said, "Do you believe everything I just said, Jason? Are you willing to be a puppet being manipulated invisibly? The seemingly possible future variables have actually been set in the past. All efforts and hopes are just illusions."

"I don't like fatalism, and I don't like what you said even more. Okay, Roland. Let me take you to find your friend." Li Jie said as he prepared to send Roland back.

"Since you don't like it! Then tear these into pieces! Destroy and trample all those terrible rules and those ridiculous established routes! Step on them all!" Roland suddenly shouted hysterically at Li Jie.

Li Jie felt that there was an indescribable madness in the look in the girl's eyes when she looked at him just now, as well as a hint of inexplicable expectation.

You have the ability to do all this, you are special. I can see it! " Roland felt that there was no need to say more. Compared to the monotonous golden and blue timelines of others, Li Jie's golden future timeline was as complex and dense as a spider web.

Each line symbolizes a different choice, which brings a completely different future. Roland saw a person who was not bound by the past timeline, and his future was boundless.

Roland couldn't see into Li Jie's future, nor could he try to see into his friends' futures. Once involved with Li Jie, all futures would become blurry.

Roland is tired of her life. She can foresee the future, but she cannot change it. She cannot avoid tragedy, because in the future she sees, she herself is also part of the past.

She has become part of the push for that future to happen. Can you understand this feeling? You know you will be hit by a car tomorrow, but you can only watch it happen. You know your loved ones or loved ones will leave unexpectedly, but you can't stop them. It may even be that they left because you foresaw the future and tried to interfere.

Life has lost its expectations and freshness. There are no surprises or shocks. All emotions have been felt before they are actually encountered.

It's like a role-playing game with a single plot. You complete the game and understand all the stories. But you become the protagonist of the game. No matter how hard you try, you can only follow the original route and repeat the protagonist's experience.

It was dull and boring, and there was an indescribable loneliness and solitude. It was like diving into the deepest part of the Pacific Ocean and experiencing the darkness and coldness of the deep sea. Roland had had enough of it.

When she first met Li Jie, she knew he was different. She had wanted to talk to Li Jie countless times, but she was never a brave girl. Until today, she finally mustered up the courage to tell him everything in her heart.

Although Li Jie was confused and didn't understand what she was saying, Roland didn't care. The foreseeable future was too bad, and she didn't want to live like this, not even for a second.

Even just once, she would roar at fate: "No! Screw the destiny!" And Li Jie would be her best entry point to change the future. No matter what the result is, she decided to give it a try, even if it might be worse.

So today's conversation happened. Roland's excitement frightened Li Jie a little. He couldn't help but ask, "Are you okay?"

"Don't worry about me, okay? I want to tell you something now. There will be a huge explosion in this stadium and thousands of people will die. Do you think you can change this future?" Roland's big eyes flashed with determination.
