"Madam is in the prime of her life." Qiu Xiu complimented her, then walked forward and picked up a jewelry box on the table, bowed again, and turned to leave.

When she came out of the flower hall and felt the cool night breeze, she realized that a thin layer of sweat had formed on her back.

She held the box in her fingertips and returned to the Guiyue Pavilion, where she saw two candles still lit in the inner room. The girl had not yet rested.

She walked around the screen, slowly stepped forward and presented the box.

"Madam..." Ruan Yuluan stretched out her fingertips and opened the lid. Then she could hear her voice suppressing her nervousness and whispering, "I have covered it up. Madam... should not be suspicious."

The girl's fingertips gently stroked the gold and jade hairpins in the box and she smiled silently.

"Well done," she said, "but... there is still one final test."

Qiu Xiu looked over in confusion, and saw the girl pick up one of the hairpins with her fingertips and gently shake it in the candlelight.

"If I knew she suspected me," she said softly, "I would definitely be very isolated and would not wear this hairpin. Madam will be happy to see you only if you don't tell me anything and I know nothing."

Qiu Xiu hadn't expected this, and a little sweat broke out on her forehead.

Even though Qiu Xiu was now a maid serving her, she was still a member of the main courtyard, and the lady would not expect her to be loyal to her.
