The Fat Wife of the 1980s Awakens

Chapter 18 Remember to eat but not to fight

Only by winning the trust of children can we better guide and educate them and help them realize their respective potential.

"If you're hungry, come and get the food!" Xu Xiufang said as she turned and walked into the kitchen.

Erbao was about to follow, but Dabao grabbed his sleeve and said, "Don't worry, what if the food is poisonous? She has been acting strangely these days. I don't believe she would be nice to us for no reason. She must have other intentions."

After hearing this, Erbao hesitated for a moment, finally retracted his steps, nodded seriously, and agreed with his elder brother's opinion.

Sanbao, who was watching silently from the side, finally couldn't help but speak: "Mom won't hurt us."

As soon as these words were spoken, Dabao and Erbao turned their heads at the same time and glared at Sanbao with dissatisfaction, as if they saw the shadow of "betrayal" in him.

"Let me try it first and show you." Sanbao said calmly. He has always been gentle and doesn't like to argue.

Seeing this, Xu Xiufang walked out of the kitchen again, filled each of the three children's plates with food, and placed the delicious braised pork in a prominent position.

Although Dabao and Erbao stared at the irresistible delicacy and their throats gurgled, they still resisted the urge to turn their heads away and said stubbornly, "We are not hungry."

In this regard, Xu Xiufang did not blame them. She chose to ignore their stubbornness, but she also did not intend to accommodate them without principles.

She specially moved Sanbao's small rocking chair to the table and carefully placed a cushion behind him so that he could sit more comfortably.

Sanbao picked up the chopsticks and began to enjoy the food without any hesitation.

Xu Xiufang personally added three large pieces of braised pork to the Sanbao bowl and said softly, "If you are hungry, eat more. Some people don't want to eat, and there is nothing we can do about it."

Xu Xiufang sighed softly, smiled at herself, and shook her head at her slightly plump figure in the mirror.

On the dining table, next to a few simple dishes, she casually picked up a few vegetables with her chopsticks, thinking about her diet control plan in her mind.

Before leaving, she whispered to Dabao at home, "Xiaobao, Mommy has to go out to take care of something. You take your brothers to eat first. If there is any leftover braised pork, I will come back and find a way to deal with it."

Upon hearing this, Dabao nodded sensibly, but there was a hint of confusion and disappointment in his eyes. He suppressed his desire for the bowl of braised pork and stood there like a little adult, determined not to touch the tempting delicacy.

The second baby was quick-witted. Remembering what his "bad mom" often said, "waste is shameful", he took the opportunity to break free from his brother's obstruction, sat down at the table, and started to enjoy the braised pork with big mouthfuls.

Xiaobao had already eaten his fill, with a chubby belly. He smiled gently and playfully at Dabao, who was still hesitating, and said, "Brother, this meat is so delicious. You see, my belly is about to protest after eating so much, but I'm still fine."

After saying that, he patted his belly playfully.

The two babies' cheeks were bulging from chewing, making them look like two greedy little hamsters.

"Brother, 'Bad Mom' was eating with gusto just now. She's fine, so it's definitely okay for us to eat. Come and try it. You'll regret it if you don't. This braised pork is absolutely delicious!"

Before he finished speaking, another piece of meat entered his mouth, filling his mouth with the taste of happiness.

In the end, Dabao couldn't resist his younger brothers and sisters' enthusiastic persuasion. He pursed his lips, finally gave up resisting, sat down next to them, and gobbled up the delicious food in the bowl.

At the same time, Xu Xiufang stepped into Widow Li's simple but tidy home, and the scene before her made her feel mixed emotions.

I saw Widow Li pounding clothes diligently by the well. Her thin body looked particularly tired in the setting sun.

When Widow Li saw Xu Xiufang holding the porcelain bowl, her hand movements involuntarily slowed down for a moment, and a hint of surprise and vigilance flashed in her eyes.

"Sister Li, don't get me wrong. I just happened to have some braised pork, and I wanted to give some to Xiaoya so she can try it."

Xu Xiufang said this as she handed over the bowl of meat, trying to break the awkwardness.

Widow Li's initial vigilance gradually turned into emotion and surprise after she smelled the rich aroma of meat. The flash in her eyes revealed her joy.

"Oh, you're busy enough with your three little ones at home, and yet you still think of my little girl. How thoughtful of me. I...how can I accept this?"

Seeing Widow Li's hesitation, Xu Xiufang smiled and explained, "Sister Li, don't think too much. I am very grateful that you helped me take care of the child last night. Let the child eat without worry. This is my intention."

These words were like a warm current flowing into Widow Li's heart, making her smile.

"That's great. I have some freshly steamed buns here. You can take some back and let the children have some."

Widow Li turned around hurriedly, wanting to return this rare friendship.

Xu Xiufang smiled and declined, saying that the children had already eaten, and asked if Xiaoya was at home, as if she had something to discuss.

Seeing Xu Xiufang's persistence, Widow Li smiled from ear to ear and kept saying, "Yes, yes, I'll go call her."

As she spoke, she opened her clear voice and called deep into the inner room, "Little girl, come here quickly!"

This call was filled with a hint of gentle eagerness.

Hearing the sound, the little girl jumped out from the inner room.

Seeing this, Xu Xiufang bent down and smiled warmly, "You clever little guys, which little teacher taught you those interesting words you said today?"

The little girl blinked her big eyes, her gaze fixed on the braised pork in Widow Li's hand, sucking it secretly with her little fingers, looking drooling. Her expression was both childish and adorable.

Widow Li looked at the little girl's greedy look and couldn't help laughing but felt a little anxious. She gently pulled the tuft of hair on the little girl's head, with a bit of pretended severity and urgency in her tone.

"Tell Auntie quickly, who taught you this? This braised pork is yours now!"

Xiaoya's eyes lit up when she heard this, and she quickly replied, "Zhou Xiaoyun taught me."

As soon as this name came out, Xu Xiufang couldn't help but feel a subtle ripple in her heart.

Recalling the confrontation with Zhou Xiaoyun over Ma Chang's matter when he first came here.

Did she forget the profound lesson she learned last time?

As you step into the simple yet warm courtyard of your home, the old but spotlessly clean square table comes into view.

The two little rascals, Dabao and Erbao, had already moved the bamboo couch under the shade of the old locust tree and were immersed in their dreams.

Xu Xiufang's gaze gently swept across their bulging bellies, and the corners of her mouth inadvertently curled up.

Turning and walking into the house, she quietly took out two neatly folded clothes and carefully covered the children's bellies with them, fearing to disturb their sweet dreams.

Her eyes inadvertently swept across the old towel hanging on the bamboo pole. The holes and wear on it made her frown slightly.

With determination, she began a comprehensive inventory of items in her home.
