The Fat Wife of the 1980s Awakens

Chapter 22 Your Mouth is the Cancer

Xiaobao's body has not yet fully recovered. A bowl of hot chicken soup, paired with the crispy and tender grilled fish, will surely make the children happy.

While the water on the stove was boiling, she took out a bag of precious White Rabbit candy from her pocket and slowly walked towards the three little ones in the house.

Xu Xiufang gently picked up a handful of candy, placed it in Xiaobao's chubby little palm, and gently reminded him: "Enjoy it slowly. If you eat too much, you will get worms in your teeth."

Xiaobao's pair of dark and bright eyes sparkled even more because of the temptation of candy.

Dabao and Erbao were so greedy that they licked their fingers unconsciously, looking very eager.

"Hands are the dirtiest, don't put them in your mouth." Xu Xiufang pretended to be serious and gently scolded, then changed the subject, revealing a trace of kindness between her brows, "The rest will all belong to the two of you."

This sentence was like the sound of nature, making the eyes of the three little heads widen instantly. Dabao and Erbao could hardly believe their ears. They were filled with joy and surprise, with naive expressions, their mouths half open, and they looked dazed.

Seeing the children's innocent look, Xu Xiufang laughed secretly in her heart. If they were not so stubborn, she really wanted to go up and kiss their rosy little faces.

These three little guys were so cute and innocent that they made her heart melt into a pool of spring water.

Just as the sweet smell filled the air, Xu Xiufang suddenly changed the subject: "But you can't just eat these candies casually."

As soon as the words fell, Dabao and Erbao's little faces immediately puffed up like two round little pufferfish, full of confusion and grievance, especially Erbao, who had tears in his eyes and his little mouth pursed tightly.

Xu Xiufang paused at the right time and then revealed the secret: "I have found out who is gossiping behind our backs. It turns out that it was Zhou Xiaoyun who instigated her to spread rumors everywhere and damage our reputation."

When Dabao heard this, he was furious, clenched his fists, and shouted, "Second brother, let's go and share the candy with everyone, so that everyone knows what a good thing her mother did!"

Xu Xiufang was secretly amazed in her heart. The wit of these two little guys was beyond imagination.

She secretly made up her mind that she would pay extra attention to these three little ones in the future. Since they were so gifted, as a mother, she should guide them carefully and help them grow healthily.

Xu Xiufang's hands did not stop. She gently placed the fresh chicken into the boiling water, which was steaming.

After finishing, she sat down next to Xiaobao, her fingers deftly moving among the chicken feathers, plucking them gently while starting her story time.

"Baby, do you want to listen to a magical story your mother has made up for you?" Xu Xiufang's voice was soft and seductive.

"I want to listen! I want to listen!" There were stars of expectation twinkling in Xiaobao's eyes, and his little face was smiling brightly, pure and flawless, which made people feel pity for him.

However, just as this heartwarming scene was about to unfold, a sharp scolding suddenly rang out outside the door.

"Is this what Xu Xiufang taught you to say?"

"He is born to be a disaster. Why do you slander my granddaughter as a wild child with no one to take care of him?" followed another voice, mixed with dissatisfaction and resentment.

"Look at you naughty kids. How good can they be from that kind of woman's belly? The evil consequences have already been sown!"

Xu Xiufang's heart sank suddenly. These illogical words undoubtedly cast a shadow on the child's heart.

A determination flashed in her eyes. "Be good and wait for your mother. I will come back to tell you the unfinished story. Now, I have to deal with those people who don't know how to respect others."

Xu Xiufang was holding a winnowing basket filled with chicken feathers and offal scraps, which gave off a raw, fishy smell. She walked out of the yard with firm steps.

The scene that came into her sight made her even angrier: Zhou Xiaoyun's mother was pulling Dabao roughly.

Erbao stared at Old Mrs. Zhou with eyes as sharp as torches.

As soon as Mrs. Zhou saw Xu Xiufang appear, she pushed Dabao towards her.

"You only know how to give birth but not how to teach, right? Look at the good kid you taught! He will definitely be a thief and end up in jail when he grows up!"

Dabao's body swayed and he almost fell. His helpless look completely aroused Xu Xiufang's maternal instinct.

She took a deep breath, tried to calm down, and asked the two children gently but forcefully: "Did they hit you?"

The two children shook their heads in unison, and Xu Xiufang's nervousness eased a little.

"It's a good thing you didn't do anything." Although Xu Xiufang's tone was calm, the power contained in it made the air around them solidify a little.

Seeing this, Mrs. Zhou's eyes were filled with resentment of not getting her way, and she continued to criticize: "Is this how you educate your sons? No wonder they are so unruly and ill-mannered..."

Faced with Mrs. Zhou's endless accusations, Xu Xiufang's patience was exhausted.

She raised the dustpan in her hand, walked closer step by step, and aimed it at Old Mrs. Zhou's chattering mouth without hesitation.

The chicken feathers and debris in the dustpan accurately covered Mrs. Zhou's head. Then, she kicked Mrs. Zhou's buttocks with a clear and decisive voice, "You said my son is a bad embryo? I think your mouth is the cancer!"

"Your girl is full of gossips and talk outside. Can't we say a few words in rebuttal?" Xu Xiufang spoke righteously and did not back down.

Old Mrs. Zhou was so angry that her whole body was shaking, and she pulled the chicken feathers off her face in anger.

Xu Xiufang brought Dabao and Erbao with her, looking calm, and said to Mrs. Zhou: "If you want to know the truth, go home and ask your daughter."

Then he turned and left, leaving behind chicken feathers all over the floor and a stunned look on the face of Old Mrs. Zhou.

Xu Xiufang's voice was firm and powerful, penetrating the fences between neighbors and reaching everyone's ears clearly: "If anyone in the village makes groundless accusations about my son, saying that he is a coward or a bastard, I'm afraid your lives will be in turmoil as well."

The two children clung tightly to Xu Xiufang's back, and the sense of security made them unconsciously smile with relief on their little faces.

Old Mrs. Zhou's face turned pale at these words, and her wet clothes stuck to her body, making her look miserable.

She was furious and said, "Then why didn't you discipline your son when he slandered my granddaughter?"

Xu Xiufang turned around, her eyes showing both tenderness and determination: "The fault is clearly yours, why should I punish my own child? Besides, everything my son said is true!"

After saying that, she took a pair of small hands and strode towards the threshold. The bamboo fence door creaked shut, completely isolating the old lady Zhou's clamor outside the door without any mercy.

Old Mrs. Zhou stood there, her feet jumping up and down in anger. She was furious, but she dared not say anything because of Xu Xiufang's tough attitude.

In the end, she could only grit her teeth, drag her tired body, and set out on the journey home, thinking in her heart how to hold her daughter accountable.
