The Fire Dragon Dance usually requires three shifts of eight performers in each shift, including one spider and seven fire dragons, who can interchange with each other.

The lead dancer of the Fire Dragon Dance is Zhang Yafei. Her team of eight people chose the Five Dragons Hui style and performed the Five Dragons Flower.

The production process of the fire dragon is complicated. The dragon head has a peculiar shape, very much like a Qilin, with a mechanism in its mouth that can spit fire. The dragon body is relatively short, usually with seven to nine sections, each section in the shape of a round bamboo tube with an oil belly placed inside. The dragon's tail is tied with bamboo strips and wrapped with velvet, and a copper bell is tied to the tip of the tail.

The fire dragon was custom-made by Shen Xue Ning and was shipped back just a week ago for tonight's performance.
