Harry Potter: Reunion with the Enemy

Chapter 2 Reuniting with Draco

"haven't seen you for a long time."

Harry's first reunion with Draco after the war was less awkward than he had imagined.

Harry had not seen the Malfoys since testifying for their innocence in the Wizengamot Court.

"There is no need to sacrifice any more lives in this war." Harry walked to the witness stand with this thought in mind.

Although Lucius Malfoy had offended quite a few people before, they were finally exempted and forgiven after Harry, the "savior", made his attitude clear, and the Malfoy family did not leave any clear evidence of direct killing or murder.

Of course, there are also quite a few wizards who fiercely criticize the Ministry of Magic for being forced to turn a blind eye to the Malfoy family because they are afraid of the Malfoy family's extensive investments and influence in various industries.

Harry couldn't be sure whether he was doing the right thing.

Maybe the Malfoys will become the remnants of the Death Eaters, and continue to secretly brew the next storm?

Harry only remembered seeing Draco Malfoy leaving the courtroom with red eyes and tears after the final announcement. When he and Draco Malfoy looked at each other hastily, his lips seemed to be opening and closing, as if...

"Hmph. Saint Potter."

------

I didn't expect to meet Draco again as a temporary partner.

Harry was originally waiting for the assignment notice of the long-term task mentioned by the temporary office director Max, but it turned out to be a short-term task completed by his former rivals together.

The two were waiting for the Floo network to connect. After the greetings, they were silent, but seemed to be secretly sizing each other up.

Harry seemed to have exercised a lot after becoming an Auror, and he often went out to perform missions. His originally injured and thin face looked much healthier, but it was obvious that some of the wounds were new. From school to now, Harry has been a frequent visitor to the hospital, and has suffered all kinds of magical injuries.

Potter is still Potter.

Draco murmured in his heart that a savior should never live up to his reputation in vain, and he would feel uncomfortable if he didn't rush around in danger for a day.

Feeling the dull atmosphere, Harry was the first to break the silence, "So...what's the mission for Gringotts this time?"

"Gringotts has received armor and ornaments made of dragon scales from there before. They were goblin products. Those items were sold from Muggle merchants. This time, Gringotts's request is to use Muggle currency to buy back all goblin products."

"It stands to reason that goblins wouldn't cooperate with humans?" Harry raised the question.

"Yes, goblins will not sell their products easily. After all, they believe that the maker is the owner." Draco nodded in agreement.

"But your current job is to work with goblins?" Harry asked a new question.

"The reason why the goblins are facing a storm of public opinion this time is actually mostly because you turned Gringotts upside down - several times. That's why I had the opportunity to get this job." Draco turned around and looked at Harry seriously.

"·······" Harry didn't say anything more.

"I am only responsible for spending the money and buying what they want. The extra money belongs to me, and I don't have to worry about anything else." Draco casually counted the Muggle currency in his hand.

The Floo network was set up, and after a while of rotation, Draco and Harry crawled out from a modified stove.

Although it was an improved and enlarged stove, it was still much narrower than a British fireplace. Harry arrived first, but it took him a long time to find the direction. Draco, who came later, fell directly on Harry.

"Ahem, this way, slow down." Harry tried to point the direction.

"Ah."

-------

Harry recited to himself. Escort the dragon back to the Dragon Sanctuary. Reclaim the goblin artifacts. Follow the Auror Workbook. Then we can go back.

Harry remembered so many fights with Draco at Hogwarts that he was surprised at how stubborn the memory was.

Harry originally thought that many things had disappeared from his brain, but in fact it was just covered with a layer of dust. If he shook it out of the corner and wiped it clean, he would find that everything was as new as new.

Harry glanced at Draco out of the corner of his eye. Fortunately, he seemed to be well behaved, and the faint smell on him was the same as when he was in Hogwarts.

Maybe it was perfume, maybe it was fabric rescent, maybe something else, Malfoy family fragrance? Every time Harry smelled it he knew he had to respond to Draco's advances, or try to dodge the incoming curses while trying to strike back.

The Chinese Fireball Dragon is not difficult to find. Although it has only grown to the height of a person in captivity, the roar of the red dragon is still very abrupt.

Muggles have already heard strange noises in the valley. In order to control the situation, the Ministry of Magic needs to act quickly.

Harry and Draco finally found it in a cave in the mountains. It seemed to be controlled by magic. It looked very weak because of frequent blood extraction and dragon scale removal. The scales of the fireball dragon were scarlet, and there was a lion nose on its face, with a circle of golden tassel-like spikes around the nose, and bulging eyes. The dragon eggs of the fireball were bright crimson, dotted with golden spots.

The person involved in the sale of dragon scale products was a silversmith, and soon Harry and Draco discovered that his wife was a wizard. Negotiating with her did not take too much time, because as the fireball dragon grew up, it became increasingly difficult for ordinary magic to control it.

After all, it is a species that even Hagrid finds difficult to deal with.

Walking out of the silversmith's house, Harry called for help from the Dragon Protection Base. Led by the silversmith's wife, Draco and Harry found the goblin who made the weapon.

When the goblin saw the Gringotts brooch Draco was wearing, he pointed out, "Are you from Gringotts, too?"

Draco didn't deny it.

"My brother is a goblin working at Gringotts. Your brooch is the same as his. After Voldemort started the war, he planted his own spies at Gringotts. My brother was eventually killed in the melee."

"For a long time, goblins have no right to use wands, and wizards refuse to share the secrets of wands with goblins. In order to find a way to revive my brother, I reached an agreement with this witch. I provided her with tools in exchange for maintaining her life in the Muggle world, and she had to share the method of using the wand with me. I wanted to study the magic of resurrection..."

Draco stared at the goblin's eyes, which had turned bloodshot due to sadness, and spoke slowly: "The chances of success if you fight alone are slim."

"It's my stuff. It's not too late to get it back later." The goblin looked at his own work in Draco's hand with disdain. He had just bought it from the witch.

"I'll take you back to the Ministry of Magic first." Harry, who had been silent for a long time, suddenly spoke.

"This operation wasn't very difficult... isn't it much simpler than your usual missions?" Draco noticed that Harry had been in a daze since returning, and tried to start a conversation.

Surprisingly, there was no response.

Turning his head, Draco found that Harry still looked lost.

It seemed that the goblin's words about rebirth had stimulated a sensitive nerve in Harry's mind.

Too much has been lost. The Gryffindor Lion who once could call Voldemort by his first name now only recalls the people who have passed away and the pain hidden deep in his memory when he mentions this name again.

Never mind, take your time. Draco sighed.

"As far as I know, this plan concerning Gringotts should be a long-term cooperative project between Gringotts and the Ministry of Magic. We will meet again next time." Draco stretched out his hand and hesitated.

Harry simply nodded quickly and said nothing more, extending his hand politely for a shake.

Draco actually still had a lot of questions to ask.

For example, how have you been lately?

For example, I heard that you occasionally suffer from mental stress reactions after the war. Are you feeling better now?

Like, need some potion support? I've developed a lot of my own since leaving the court.

In the silence, Draco was unable to ask a single question.

It took a lot of money to publish so much negative media news about Gringotts, and then a little bit of political means to make Gringotts's restructuring successful. Starting today, I can finally accompany you on this adventure.

We have a lot of time ahead of us, Harry.
