The End of the World: Chaos

Chapter 317 Out of place

At this time, Yang Yi walked in leisurely, his gestures exuding a sense of casualness. He was out of tune with the gloom of the outside world, like a lonely and proud cloud.

"You're late." Hill spoke immediately when he saw him sit down, with a hint of dissatisfaction in his tone, as if he was dissatisfied with his slowness.

"I want to have a cup of coffee, why rush?" Yang Yi disagreed. After sitting down, he ordered a cup of strong coffee, completely ignoring the tension around him, as if all this had nothing to do with him.

"You just drink coffee all day long. You're really not doing your job properly." Hill frowned slightly, feeling puzzled by his attitude.

"I have nothing to do? I am busier than you think." Yang Yi raised his eyebrows and smiled, with a hint of amusement on his lips, "But being busy is not necessarily a good deed."

"Mr. Jun, please use your words to judge." Hill shook his head helplessly, "The consequences of this incident are not trivial. We must consider the subsequent impact."

"I understand, but what I care about is why we always focus on a single thing, as if other things have nothing to do with me." Yang Yi's eyes flashed, revealing an intelligent and unruly expression.

"This is a murder case, but the person is dead!" Hill's tone became higher and his expression became more determined. "Why don't you face these facts?"

"Those who face it should be, based on what you see. But can we forget the health of our whole body because of a spear?" Yang Yi asked back, his eyes flashing with unusual vision, "Hell's Kitchen is a chaotic place, how can we cry because of the death of one person?"

"But they are all living people!" Hill's voice revealed long-suppressed emotions, "How can we be indifferent to this, as if everything has nothing to do with me."

Yang Yi smiled slightly, picked up the coffee in his hand and took a sip, "You don't know what I mean. I am by no means indifferent, I hope you understand that the truth is often deeper and more complicated than appearances." He seemed to be savoring the bitterness of the coffee, with a thoughtful look on his face.

Hill looked him in the face, hesitating whether to continue arguing. Yang Yi's words always made her think deeply, but she knew that arguing might not change anything, but would only make her feel more powerless.

"So, based on your opinion, what should we do? Should we just let the situation continue?" Hill finally asked, with helplessness in his tone.

"We should pay attention to the overall situation, not just individual events." Yang Yi seemed to be thinking about something, his eyes dim. "The dead are everywhere, but this is the norm in Hell's Kitchen. How can we let a tiny needle stop the health of our entire body?"

"Are you trying to make us ignore the dead?" Hill showed anger, obviously disagreeing with Yang Yi's opinion.

"It's not indifference, but insight." Yang Yi paused for a moment, his eyes becoming more profound, "If we limit ourselves to a certain event, we will eventually be trapped in endless fear and unable to move forward."

Hill took a deep breath, his mind in turmoil: "What do you mean? I really can't understand your logic."

"My intention is not to deny the entire environment because of a small matter, nor should we let terror bind our hearts. We should look at all this from a long-term perspective." Yang Yi's tone gradually became gentler, but there was still an unshakable firmness in it.

Hill's heart wavered. Although she was skeptical of Yang Yi's ideas, she began to ponder his logic. For many years, she had focused on the crisis at hand, but no one dared to look at everything from a higher perspective.

"I know the chaos in Hell's Kitchen, but I can't help but feel sad for the dead. Every life has its own meaning, and I can't get rid of this feeling." She said slowly, her voice was like a clear stream, gentle and firm, "No matter how bad the environment is, we should seek warmth in it."

"But warmth is indeed scarce in this environment." Yang Yi sighed, as if touched by her words, "However, what the world considers warmth is often nothing more than concentrated fragility."

"However, can we give up the pursuit of light because of darkness?" Hill responded firmly with bright eyes, "Even in Hell's Kitchen, we should work hard to change the status quo."

"You mean to change the whole darkness?" Yang Yi raised his lips slightly, with a hint of disdain, but also a hint of appreciation, "Do you know how difficult it is?"

"I know, but I am willing to do it." Hill did not hesitate, a flame of determination bursting out of his eyes.

"Well, maybe I should ask you for advice." Yang Yi answered with a hint of sarcasm, but there was a hint of sincerity in his words.

"No, I don't want to be your disciple." Hill chuckled, and the atmosphere suddenly became much more relaxed.

Yang Yi raised the cup in his hand: "Cheers to our persistence!"

"For our persistence." Hill smiled slightly, clinked his glasses, and the two drank gently, as if at this moment, they sympathized with each other.
