The End of the World: Chaos

Chapter 359 Quick decision

He stood up from a dry stump, looked around to make sure no one was following him, and then began to tear off the disguise on his face so that he could put on the new human skin mask. Although the mask was made of crude quality, it was considered a "luxury" in his current situation.

"Damn it!" he muttered, tearing at the mask to make it fit his face better. "No time for perfection."

At this moment, a noise came from deep in the woods. A small group of soldiers were patrolling. Red Skull couldn't help holding his breath, quietly hiding behind a tree, staring at the soldiers with cold eyes. He sneered in his heart: "These ignorant people didn't even notice me."

At this moment, a young soldier suddenly walked out from the bushes nearby. He was a member of the patrol team. He was completely unaware of the Red Skull's presence and was holding a radio, talking to his companions.

"Yes, sir, there is nothing unusual around us, everything is normal." There was a hint of nervousness in the young soldier's tone.

An idea flashed in the Red Skull's mind, and his eyes flashed with a sinister light. He knew that he had to obtain some manpower and armed forces, and the young soldier in front of him was obviously a good target.

"Hey, kid," he thought to himself, and seeing the soldier turn and walk towards him, Red Skull finally decided to show up.

"Who are you?" the young soldier asked vigilantly, raising the weapon slightly in his hand as a defensive measure.

"Don't be nervous, I'm just passing by and want to know the situation here." Red Skull lowered his voice, trying his best to sound calmer.

"Passing by? This is a military area. Mortals are not allowed to enter at will." The soldier frowned, obviously doubting Red Skull's words.

"I know, I know." Red Skull pretended to be calm on the surface, but he had already planned his next move in his heart. "I heard that you have made some changes recently. I wonder if you are working on a new project?"

The soldier was slightly stunned, and seemed to be interested in this topic. "What do you know?"

"I don't know much, but I heard from outside that you are in urgent need of manpower to carry out the protection work outside, and I happen to be very passionate about this matter." Red Skull tried hard to adjust his tone, showing a sense of trustworthiness.

"You want to join us? What makes you say that?" The soldier looked puzzled, but his doubts gradually subsided.

"I was once a soldier and have rich combat experience." Red Skull secretly prayed that this lie would go through the roof.

"What's your name?" The soldier still held the gun in his hand, but his face looked relaxed.

"My name is Alan." The Red Skull made up an insignificant name and felt proud of himself.

"Alan?" The soldier looked straight at him, a hint of doubt flashing in his eyes, "I don't think I have ever heard of this person."

"I haven't been around here for a long time, so perhaps you haven't noticed my name." Red Skull smiled slightly, secretly cursing himself for feeling uneasy because of this small soldier's suspicion.

"I need to take you to see my superior before I can decide whether to allow you to join the regiment." The young soldier seemed bold, but he was secretly hesitating in his heart.

"Okay, I'll go with you." The Red Skull was rejoicing in his heart. It seemed that the plan was gradually being realized.

Afterwards, the two walked along the woods towards the base, and Red Skull secretly thought about how to explain it when he met his superiors.

Soon, they arrived at a temporary command post. The young soldier knocked on the door and then walked in. "Sir, there's a newcomer here..."

The commander looked up, his eyes wandering from Red Skull to Red Skull, his face showing confusion. Red Skull was fearless and knew what was coming next.

"Sir, my name is Alan. I just graduated from the training camp and have rich combat experience. I'm here to apply to join your army." Red Skull spoke with confidence, trying to make himself appear steady.

The commander frowned slightly, as if assessing the credibility of this strange soldier. "What is your background? Where have you served?"

"I was transferred here. I previously served in the Northern War Zone." The Red Skull's eyes moved flexibly, trying to make his expression look sincere.

"From the Northern War Zone? I haven't heard of any new people being transferred there recently." The commander still did not let down his guard.

"Because I have carried out special missions, I have always been in secret." The Red Skull gradually raised his voice, as if to emphasize his own uniqueness.

"Special mission?" The commander's interest grew, but he was still a little skeptical. "If you were really ordered to come here, why didn't you contact me in advance?"

"I contacted my superiors directly and was arranged to rush over." Red Skull thought to himself that this move was indeed a good one.
