The End of the World: Chaos
Chapter 438 Banner's Soul
"Banner, what are you thinking about?" Pushkin's voice was like a breeze, interrupting Banner's meditation. His tone was full of care and anxiety, as if calling Banner's soul.
Banner nodded slightly, and forced a bitter smile. "I just wonder why things have become so complicated."
"The complexity is because we are fighting against a powerful enemy, Banner. This is not a personal choice, but the salvation of the whole world." Pushkin's tone gradually became solemn, as if he was emphasizing some extremely important truth.
"How can I fight?" Banner looked up, his inner uneasiness gradually emerging, "I need to have clear goals, not empty concepts."
"Those experiments, those unpredictable consequences." Pushkin's voice became low, with a hint of heaviness. "The advancement of science and technology has enabled us to create power beyond our imagination, but it has also buried the crisis of extinction."
"You want me to get involved, right?" Banner's heart tightened. He had already had a premonition about this.
"Yes, we need you urgently." Pushkin looked into Banner's eyes with expectation and determination, "Without your help, we can't move forward."
Banner felt an invisible pressure deep in his heart. He understood his role, but it was hard for him to fully accept it. "I don't seem to be that important?"
"But everyone knows that you are indeed important." Pushkin curled his lips slightly, trying to ease Banner's anxiety. "In this struggle, your scientific literacy and deep understanding of mutants make you the key."
Banner was silent for a moment, trying to sort out his thoughts. He had always hoped to escape his fate, but he could not escape this situation no matter what. Although he hesitated in his heart, he had nowhere to retreat.
"If I decide to participate, where do I start?" Banner asked in a low voice, with a hint of determination in his eyes.
"First, we need to determine where Yang Yi is going." Pushkin replied with a stern face, "Your friend's strength comes from all his abilities, but his initial decision will inevitably affect our next move."
"I don't want to talk about Yang Yi anymore." Banner's face was bitter, and his eyes showed helplessness. "Since Hill refused to see him, I knew it would be difficult for us to meet again."
"But precisely because of this, he becomes a variable." Pushkin paused and said earnestly, "We must find him, no matter what. We have the responsibility to convince him and let him return to our generation."
"You want me to go find him?" Banner had a complicated expression and felt a little uneasy.
"I understand that this is not an easy task for you. However, I believe that Hill does not want to see the situation get worse. You can serve as a bridge between her and Yang Yi." Pushkin's tone was firm and enthusiastic.
Banner took a deep breath, fear and responsibility intertwined in his heart. He knew that he could no longer escape. He nodded and smiled slightly. Although his smile was helpless, it was surprisingly firm.
"Okay, I'll try," he said.
"Very good." Pushkin showed a relieved expression, "But before that, I still have a task to complete."
"Is it about Yang Yi?" Banner asked, feeling vaguely uneasy.
"That's right, I will go find him. I hope I can bring him back." Pushkin stood up and prepared to leave.
"Then have a safe trip! I'll pack some things first." Banner nodded, but the uneasiness in his heart lingered.
"I'll do it as soon as possible." Pushkin responded and walked out of Banner's apartment.
Banner watched Pushkin's back, his heart filled with helplessness and hope. The road ahead was bumpy and completely unpredictable. He tried to sort out his thoughts, but he always seemed unable to grasp them. No matter what, he had to face the upcoming challenges.
At the same time, Pushkin had already walked out of Banner's apartment and headed straight for Yang Yi's identity. He had a heavy mission in his heart, and all the hopes for a solution were placed on him.
Yang Yi sat quietly in his apartment, his face calm, but his heart was turbulent. He knew very well that Pushkin's arrival must indicate new developments.
"Pushkin, you are here at last." Yang Yi's voice was calm, but there was a hint of anxiety in his heart, unable to control himself.
"I'm here." Pushkin sat down and said directly, "We need to talk in detail."
"What is there to talk about? I have already cut off contact with Banner." Yang Yi's tone was firm and cold.
"But the complexity of the matter is far beyond your imagination." Pushkin said anxiously, "Banner is facing tremendous pressure, not only from the outside world, but also from the decision made because of you."
"I don't want to have anything to do with him anymore." Yang Yi's face was as cold as frost and his voice was indifferent. It was obvious that he had decided not to look back.
"Yang Yi, you know the truth of the matter is not as simple as you wish." Pushkin persuaded, "If you don't let go of the misunderstanding, the consequences will be even more tragic."
"The truth? The truth you are talking about, are you referring to what happened between Hill and me?" Yang Yi was so emotional that he could hardly control himself with anger and helplessness intertwined.
"Yes, your relationship with Hill does affect everything. But more importantly, the overall situation is in crisis. Only by uniting all parties can we resist the dangerous situation." Pushkin said firmly.
"If everything is for the sake of saving the world, why should I bear such a heavy burden?" Yang Yi's calm voice revealed a hint of fatigue. Faced with a more complicated struggle, he was completely at a loss.
"Responsibility cannot be shirked, but now is a good opportunity for you to return." Pushkin stared at Yang Yi, his eyes revealing determination and hope. "It is because of your uniqueness that the direction of this struggle depends on you."
"What can I do? Can I go back to the past?" Yang Yi smiled bitterly, seeming to be extremely helpless.
