The End of the World: Chaos
Chapter 442: Network as a Price
Steve frowned slightly, his tone was calm but with a hint of annoyance: "However, your words 'shut down the global network' are really shocking." He paused, his eyes as firm as a torch, "However, can we sacrifice the world's network to solve the current crisis?"
Tony slammed his fingers on the table, and for a moment he was furious. He said in an annoyed tone: "I don't want to do this either! But if we don't take tough measures, this ubiquitous network bug will continue to cause harm."
"Network Bug?" Natasha, the Black Widow, was a shadow among the crowd. Her voice was gentle but slightly sarcastic. "Tony, what you are talking about is not real? Or is it just an imaginary monster?"
"I was just explaining the seriousness of the matter!" Tony was immediately impatient, his face changing, indignation and helplessness intertwined. "You all need to know that if we don't stop it in time, the consequences will be disastrous!"
Hill frowned and thought, his tone persistent: "So, apart from this extreme plan, do you have any other good plan? Even a stopgap measure will do." As soon as these words came out, the atmosphere in the meeting room became tense again.
Tony was silent for a moment, his face showing hesitation. He knew that every word he said could be interpreted as a fuse, and his hesitation at this moment might lead to a bigger dispute.
"I know this sounds hopeless, but what we need is time." Tony's voice softened a little. "Even if we can't shut down the network, we can try to explore other ways to control it."
"How?" Steve interrupted without allowing him to argue. "Can we consider other means to control or guide this existence? Sometimes proper guidance may be more effective than coercion."
"How ridiculous is that? Using gestures?" Tony rolled his eyes, full of disdain. "Of course, I know this case is difficult, but if we don't stick to our position, how can we give up so easily!"
Banner sat and watched, remaining silent, his eyes deep, as if he was thinking a lot. He finally spoke, his tone low and firm: "No, I agree with Tony. Being forced into a desperate situation does not necessarily mean going to extremes. We need a detailed strategy, not a single extreme."
"Detailed? What do you mean?" Tony couldn't help himself, tapping his fingers on the table rapidly, his eyes were sharp, and his anger could no longer be concealed. "Do you think a detailed strategy can solve this dilemma?"
"No one said this would be easy." Banner leaned forward slightly, his eyes as firm as iron, suppressing his anger and trying to maintain a calm voice, "However, we cannot rely on such extreme measures. If we take overly drastic measures, we may end up in a quagmire."
After these words, there was a moment of silence in the conference room, and everyone's eyes turned to Hill. She frowned, as if thinking about something.
"I understand your concerns, but can you consider setting up a professional team to focus on network security? Perhaps we can strengthen the network's defenses to distract their attention, and then find a solution." Hill's proposal eased the atmosphere in the meeting room slightly.
"Distract attention? Make the network more complicated? Isn't that adding negative binding to the network?" Tony took a deep breath, obviously finding this suggestion unbearable. "The network is already complicated, and what you can control is just a small area. You can't cure it at all!"
"Even so, it's better than nothing." Hill's voice gradually became firm, as if he was trying to convince not only Tony, but the entire team. "In a critical moment, we should take action instead of just arguing here."
At this time, the urgency revealed by Maria Hill attracted everyone's attention, and everyone began to think seriously about her words.
“Even if we set up a team composed of technical experts and cybersecurity experts, this move is far more constructive than simply taking extreme measures!” she kept saying, with a hint of urgency in her voice.
"I am willing to join this team to provide technical support," Tony responded softly. Although he was still dissatisfied, he gradually felt that his thoughts had turned around. "But we cannot underestimate this opponent. We need a more targeted attack strategy."
"If we can lock the core of this network, we may be able to confront it directly." Banner looked at Tony, a glimmer of hope gradually appearing in his eyes.
"Okay, we can go down this path first." Steve finally spoke, looking a little more relaxed. "Tony, you will be in charge of forming a technical team. What we need is action, not just talk."
"I will act quickly, but I also need to remind you that we may face more unknown challenges." Tony paused, his eyes were as firm as a mountain, and his tone revealed a hint of determination, "But we must continue on this road."
"Without a doubt, this is our Avengers spirit!" Natasha clenched her fists and a smile appeared on her face, instantly dissolving the tense atmosphere in the conference room.
