Rebirth of the Return of Chu

Chapter 32 The Snow Ferret Dies

At noon, Xiaotao prepared dinner and called them to eat.

Halfway through the meal, Gu Qing suddenly came over: "Sir, the ferret is dead."

Qin Yuanyi frowned slightly. "Dead? What happened?"

Gu Qing replied, "Today when I was feeding it as usual, I felt that it didn't eat much, so I asked the medicine boy to keep an eye on it. But at noon, the medicine boy came to report that it was not moving. I opened the cage and found that it was dead, but I found something in its stomach. It seemed to be a poisonous insect, which emitted a long purple light, but it died after leaving the ferret's body for a while."

Qin Yuanyi asked again: "Do you understand these things?"

Gu Qing shook his head. "It is said that there is a tribe in Nanxiao, and the people there are good at using Gu. I think I can go and ask around."

Qin Yuanyi nodded, "We'll decide on this matter after Wang Xing comes back. I sent him to Nanxiao to investigate secretly. He should be back soon. Come with me. I have something to tell you."

After saying that, Gu Qing and Qin Yuanyi entered the room together.

Mu Chu knew that they had something to discuss, so he went back to his room. He felt a little tired, so he lay down and fell into a deep sleep. When it was dark, Xiao Tao saw that she was still asleep, so she woke her up.

Mu Chu woke up and saw that it was already dark outside. "Xiao Tao, why didn't you wake me up earlier?"

Xiao Tao said helplessly: "My lady, I called you several times, but you couldn't wake up."

Mu Chu felt a little dizzy from sleeping, so he asked Xiao Tao, "What time is it?"

Xiao Tao replied: "It's the You hour now, would you like to have dinner, Miss?"

Mu Chu asked, "Well, go call your uncle and eat together."

Xiao Tao turned around and said to her: "Miss, the second young master has left. He told me to wait until you wake up and tell you."

Mu Chu was stunned. "Gone? Is he going to accompany Mingyue?"

Xiao Tao shook her head: "That's not the case. Wang Xing suddenly came back. I heard the second young master talking to Wang Xing. He said he needed to confirm something. It seemed like he was going on a long trip."

Mu Chu thought, yes, it’s normal for him to be so busy.

During Qin Yuanyi's absence, Mu Chu returned to his previous life. In order to put aside his distracting thoughts and study medicine seriously, Mu Chu set up a house in Taohua Valley and devoted himself to studying.

What’s strange is that Gu Qing is also missing. When I asked my master, he said that he had gone out with Qin Yuanyi to do some work.

Without Gu Qing's constant guidance, and his master being often away, he would only occasionally instruct Mu Chu when he showed up, and the rest of the time he would just let Mu Chu read medical books.

When Mu Chu felt bored, he would take Xiao Tao and Taxue to the mountains to dig herbs.

Summer was slowly approaching, and there were more and more wild flowers in the mountains. Every time Mu Chu went out to collect herbs, he would pick some and put them in a vase on the table. He would look at them every day and feel contented.

One day, Mu Chu and Xiao Tao encountered a cocoa tree on the mountain. Mu Chu was very interested and picked a basket of cocoa and took Xiao Tao with him to make chocolate.

Xiao Tao pinched her nose and said the smell of fermented cocoa seeds was stinky. She didn't believe that she could make anything delicious.

However, the other little medicine boys were attracted by her strange method and kept asking her every day when she would be done.

Gu Jia Leng looked at Mu Chu who was making a fuss and was too lazy to care about her. He let her play around as she pleased, because he knew the child's talent and knew that she could complete many academic tasks on her own without strict requirements. So he simply let her do what she wanted. Anyway, this lifeless Peach Blossom Valley became lively after Mu Chu moved in.

When it was late at night and everyone was asleep, Mu Chu would still toss and turn, wondering why his uncle hadn't come back yet. He would also persuade himself to give up and just treat him as an ordinary elder.

A few days later, Mu Chu was making chocolate when he heard the chirping of snowflakes in the yard, and then he heard Xiao Tao's voice, "Second Young Master."

Mu Chu felt stunned for a moment, then she reacted, picked up her skirt and ran out, chocolate still stuck on her face: "Uncle, you're back?"

Qin Yuanyi looked at Mu Chu, who looked like a calico cat, and laughed. He reached out and wiped her face. "Chu'er, what are you doing?"

Mu Chu said mysteriously: "You will know in a moment. Please wait for a while in the pavilion, uncle."

After a while, Mu Chu came out with her spoils. When she placed them on the table, Qin Yuanyi looked disgusted and asked, "What is this? Poison?"

Mu Chu ignored Qin Yuanyi's disdain, picked up a piece and handed it to him: "Try it quickly."

Seeing Mu Chu's expectant expression, Qin Yuanyi reluctantly took a bite. There was a bitter taste at first, but then a sweet taste came slowly. It was actually quite delicious.

"How is it?" Mu Chu asked impatiently.

Qin Yuanyi looked at her lovingly and shook his head.

Mu Chu felt disappointed all of a sudden and pouted unhappily.

Qin Yuanyi laughed loudly: "Okay, I won't tease you anymore, I think it's great."

Mu Chu's expression instantly turned from cloudy to bright, "Really?", and he happily spun around on the ground.

Then he shouted to Xiaotao, "Xiaotao, go to the kitchen and share the chocolate I made with everyone."

Soon, the sound of people scrambling could be heard in the yard. Qin Yuanyi looked at the lively and cheerful Mu Chu in front of him. He thought it was right to bring this child out. She could live out her true life in this world without the worldly affairs that bound her.

What he didn't know was how grateful Mu Chu was to be able to experience this relaxed life. His previous life was too hard and lonely.
