Chapter 80 Final, Mitsuki vs Gladion (Part )

The first match of the afternoon was not the final, but the match between the two who lost the semifinals, that is, the match between Chihaya and Hao. This time, Chihaya changed her strategy and did not beat around the bush. She had a very intense head-on confrontation with Hao. In the end, Hao was one step behind and lost to Chihaya. Naoki was not surprised by this. Hao's Pokémon lineup was too straightforward and monotonous, and it was very difficult to fight against a pure numerical opponent like Chihaya.

After the intermission, the much-anticipated finals were about to begin. Mitsuki and Gladion had known each other for quite some time, but they had rarely communicated with each other, and had never fought a Pokémon battle. They probably never thought that their first Pokémon battle would be in such a heavyweight setting.

Without too much words, neither of the two champions would let go easily. They looked at each other, and after the referee announced the start, they took out the Poké Balls and threw out their starting Pokémon.

Gladion's starting player was Lycanroc, not Zoroark in disguise. Mitsuki's starting player was Muddy.

Gladion didn't know Mitsuki's tactics, nor did he care: "Manerock Werewolf, use Stealth Rock."

The Werewolf starts the game by laying down invisible rocks, which is a very common tactic in a full-scale battle.

"Smelly mud, use charge."

The Charged move sounds like a variable move that increases the next damage, but in fact its effect is to increase the physical defense and special defense by one level each, and enter the Charged state. The Charged state can be stacked up to three times, and the two moves of Spray and Swallow can consume the Charged state to cause damage to the opponent and restore health to yourself.

Theoretically, these three moves can only be learned through inheritance, but Naoki has skill learning devices for three useless moves, so he taught them to Mitsuki's Muddy. For a durable Pokémon like Muddy, the double defense improvement of charging is still a good enhancement.

"Another enhanced tactic? Werewolf, use Roar!"

"Smelly, use provoke!" Mitsuki saw through Gladion's thoughts and chose this torture tactic, so she naturally thought of various countermeasures. Because the roar move has a priority limit of -6, the slower Smelly took the lead in using provoke. The provoked Werewolf could not use transformation moves, so naturally he could not use roar.

"In that case, come back, Werewolf." Gladion was not afraid of this kind of opponent with enhanced defense. He had a paper sword, and one of the Paper Sword's moves was specifically designed to fight this type of opponent.

The Mud used Charged Power Up again, while Gladion switched to Paper Sword, preparing to use Holy Sword, a move that ignores the opponent's defense and dodge ability, to deal with the Mud. Gladion's judgment was normal and very quick. The Alola Mud had no resistance to fighting attributes, so no matter whether it was a tactic of shrinking to increase dodge or other tactics of increasing physical defense, it had no effect in front of the Holy Sword move.

"Paper Swordsman, use Sword Dance!" Gladion was not in a hurry, and even had enough time to strengthen it. The grass and steel attributes were immune to the poison attribute, and the evil attribute moves of the same multiple did not cause much damage to Paper Swordsman with high physical defense.

"Hmph! Then let me show you! Stinky Mud, use Big Word Explosion!"

Gladion's eyes suddenly widened. Muk's Special Attack racial stat is only 65, which may not be even higher than some baby-level Pokémon. It is the type that will never use special attack moves in its life. Well, the above are only true in the game. In reality, Pokémon's moves are not restricted by skill grids at all, so naturally you can learn whatever you want to learn. There is also a plug-in device called the Skill Learning Device for one-click learning, so it is understandable that Muk can learn the big word Explosion.

The large-character flame hit the petite Paper Sword head-on, and people even worried that this origami-sized Pokémon would be burned to ashes by the large-character explosion. After the flame dissipated, the original white body of Paper Sword was covered with black scorch marks, floating in the sky as if it would be blown away by the wind at any time, but it did not fall down, and its HP was still about 1/4, but it was very unlucky and fell into the burn state.

After all, Muk's special attack is still too low, and without the power bonus of its own moves, it is too difficult for it to kill Paper Sword in one second with a large-character explosion of fire. However, Paper Sword in the burned state is actually not much different from losing its combat ability. After the physical attack is halved, the holy sword can't do much damage.

Gladion knew this, of course, but the fact that a move like Flame Explosion could hit a target and trigger an additional effect was just bad luck. He couldn't change the result, so he could only let Paper Sword use the Holy Sword to attack, and he would get as much HP as possible.

The physical attack +2 and the halving of physical attack due to burning cancel each other out, and the damage from this holy sword took away nearly half of the HP of the Mud.

"Smelly mud, use Big Character Explosion to solve it!" Miyuki waved her little hand and struck a rather cool pose, but this coolness only lasted for a few seconds. Perhaps it was because of the law of conservation of luck, the previous burn luck explosion overdrew the subsequent luck, and this time the Big Character Explosion was avoided by Zhi Yujian with a glider in the air.

The hit rate of Big Character Flame Explosion is only 85%, so few people dare to use this move in a battle. Those who feel that they are unlucky will generally only use Jet Flame or Hot Air.

"Paper Sword, use the Holy Sword!" Gladion did not expect that things would turn out so drastically, and he subconsciously commanded Paper Sword to launch a counterattack. The Holy Sword hit Stinky Mud, who still had a little HP left and did not fall down. He also took out a pomelo fruit from behind and stuffed it into his mouth to restore his HP to the yellow blood state.

"Smelly mud, use Big Character Explosion again!" Miyuki wanted to keep the last skill slot and did not choose to use moves like defending to delay time and wait for the burning effect to consume Paper Sword's physical strength. This time Big Character Explosion hit accurately, and Paper Sword finally lost its combat ability.

Gladion once again replaced Lycanroc. The attribute combination of Poison and Darkness of Alola Mudkip is a very excellent combination, with only one weakness of Ground attribute. There are no Ground attribute Pokémon in Gladion's team. The only Pokémon that has something to do with Ground attribute is Lycanroc, a pure Rock attribute Pokémon.

"Glengar, use Drill!"

The Pokémon Lycanroc cannot learn Earthquake, and the most powerful Ground-attribute move it can use is the 80-power Straight Drill. Non-ground-attribute moves have no power bonus, and Gladion is not sure whether this move can eliminate the low-health Muddy Slime.

Fortunately, the damage was just right. Even with physical defense +2, the Mud with only 1/4 HP left was ultimately unable to withstand this double-restrained move and lost its ability to fight.
