Wars happen all the time in this world.

But war only happens in weak territories, where people may often feel this kind of fear.

The church is clearly not a weakling.

For the church knights, war was far away from them.

One reason is that the church is very powerful, and the other reason is that no one wants to mess with a group of fanatical lunatics.

Of course, not all people are crazy. There are always a few rational ones. Knight William, who was chosen by Beth to be the instructor, is one of the few relatively rational ones.

"Knight William, church bells don't ring randomly, and why did you ask the children to evacuate?"

Standing in front of Instructor William was a fanatical knight.

The church bells rang, indicating that it was time to sacrifice one's life for the Lord.

There was no fear in the knight's eyes. Instead, they were filled with excitement, anticipation, and a chilling madness.

"The orcs are coming. I plan to evacuate the children and villagers. Go help the villagers move their belongings."

"Evacuate? Isn't it time for them to prove their loyalty to the Lord? How can the Lord's holy temple be left in front of the filthy orcs? They should sacrifice themselves for the Lord."

William looked at the knight in front of him who was twisted with excitement. His short golden hair was well-groomed, his face was clean and tidy, and his facial features were three-dimensional and delicate. He didn't look like someone who could say such words.

But he just said it.

"Follow orders, knight. You have no room for questions here."

"Yes!"

The knight turned and left.

William did not explain anything. For these fanatical knights, sacrificing for the Lord was everything to them. And the scary thing about them was that they would also let others sacrifice everything for the Lord.

Otherwise, it would be against God.

William was able to make them surrender because of Beth's arrangement. In the eyes of these knights, there was no difference between Beth and God, and Beth's arrangement was God's arrangement.

The villagers didn't have much, just a few loads of grain, but for a village of several thousand people, the grain added up was not a small amount.

The fanatical knight just now had no complaints at all and informed the villagers very enthusiastically that as for these knights, as long as the orders were related to Beth, they would execute them perfectly.

After arranging a knight, William looked at the remaining three knights, took out a map from the side, drew an oval on the west side of the map, and marked a point on the north side.

He pointed to the area enclosed by the oval and said:

"I need to know where the orcs are. Go check this area."

Then he pointed to the marked point.

"Then meet me here and do not take any action against the orcs. I only have one request: survive and be loyal to the Lord in the future."

"Yes."

A knight took the map from William and left with the remaining two knights.

The tranquility of the small village was broken. People were not very willing to leave here. They had only lived a good life in the past few years. It was only after Beth came that they could live a good life.

Now that they were talking about leaving, they all felt a little confused. The old man moved the grain out of the house, looked at the carriage driving towards them, lowered his head to recheck whether the grain bags were damaged and whether the markings were obvious.

When the carriage arrived, the old man seemed to come back to his senses. The knight came to the old man, took the food, and threw it heavily on the carriage.

The dull sound was not very loud, but it hit the old man's heart directly: This is food.

The old man stepped forward and gently placed the food. Although the knight did not understand the old man's psychology, he still stepped forward to help him.

The old man sorted out the food and turned back to ask the knight:

"We're leaving this time, and we don't know when we'll be back."

The knight was very happy. He thought that the old man cherished this land of God so much because he missed God.

"I don't know either. When Saint Beth comes back, I think we will retake God's land."

The old man looked at the fanatical knight and didn't know what to say for a moment. He had lived here all his life. Leaving was a heavy burden for the old man. He didn't know how to express his feelings and could only murmur:

"Let's fight the orcs."

There was a hint of excitement on the knight's face. At this moment, he felt that the old man understood him. However, when he thought of William's order and Beth's trust in William, he still felt that William's idea was right. After all, that was Beth, the person appointed by God.

"The order from above is to retreat, old man."

The knight lifted the old man onto the front of the carriage to make it easier to drive him, then turned and walked towards other villagers who needed help.

The children also packed their luggage and stood behind William.

As the sun set, the long convoy left the village. The children played carefreely beside the convoy, while the villagers, especially the elderly, were all silent.

The convoy passed by wheat fields. This season was the time when crops were sprouting. The deep yellow earth was dotted with neat rows of green dots. It should have been a time full of vitality, but everything seemed so desolate.

The old man looked at the newly sprouted malt, which he had planted with his own hands, with his back to the sky and sweat dripping down his face. Every seedling was his child and his hope for the coming year.

"Can the orcs take good care of these crops?"

As soon as the old man finished speaking, sobbing sounds were heard beside him.

The knight was stunned for a moment and then he became angry. He thought the old man was reluctant to leave this place because he was grateful to the Lord, but it turned out that the old man was just worried about the crops.

"Old man, God's territory is about to be occupied, but you only care about your poor crops. Old man, you should confess to God in the flames."

After saying that, the knight grabbed the old man by the collar and threw him heavily into the field. The land was soft and the weeds had just been hoed. There was still the smell of soil that had been turned over by an iron hoe.

The old man curled up his body, feeling a little confused. Why did the world suddenly seem to have changed?

After the church came to the Viscount's territory, they reduced the grain tax here. With grain sold at high prices and various daily necessities sold at low prices, this place instantly became a paradise in the old man's heart.

But all of this has already been priced in. The church is not doing charity, it is a new ruling class. For this rural area, it is just one of the church's hundreds of God-given production lines.

These farmers are not even worthy of being labeled with a number.

The villagers were unaware of their situation. Their belief in God was simply because the church had given them the life they longed for, an Eden where as long as they worked hard, they would never have to worry about food and clothing. The knight had lost his former kindness, and the beautiful world was completely destroyed in an instant.

The villagers nearby stopped crying. They were stunned by this scene. The children also stopped playing and hid behind William in a daze.

William also realized that something was wrong. This was the place where Beth became a saint. It was a God-given birthplace with special significance to the church. As an instructor, he knew that children must not be allowed to doubt the Lord.

"That's enough. Help the old man up and apologize to him."

The knight was stunned for a moment. He looked at the children hiding behind William. The respect for him was gone in their eyes. Instead, they looked at the knight with fear and suspicion. This did not make him repent, but made him even more angry.

"Allah has given you everything, but you have regarded Him as nothing. You shall all be in the flames..."

He didn't finish his sentence.

The thrown head passed through everyone's sight, and until his death, his eyes were full of anger and confusion.
