End of the World

The camp is smaller than I imagined. It is estimated that there are only one or two squads stationed here, and they should be the troops in charge of the checkpoint.

"Where are the zombies? No?" Dafeng poked his head inside. The camp was quiet, with only the rustling sound of leaves swaying in the wind in the yard.

"There are no other buildings nearby. After so long, any zombies should have left!" said Wu Bin.

Since there were no zombies, Chen Guangjun drove into the camp and honked the horn a few times, but the only response was the sound of the wind, so there should be no zombies.

"I always feel like this trip is a loss!" Dafeng got out of the car and looked at the several small buildings. There won't be much to gain from a small camp.

"Now that we're here, let's take a look around!" Wu Bin slammed the car door with a gun in hand.

There is a layer of fallen leaves on the ground in the camp. New tender leaves poke their heads out from the cracks in the concrete floor, basking in the sunshine of the world. They are full of vitality and reveal the prosperity of life everywhere, which is in sharp contrast to human society.

I don’t know what Dafeng’s obsession with toilets is, he always goes in first to check. Jiang Hong doesn’t understand why, but just follows him. There is nothing unusual in the toilet except for the floating dust.

"Someone has been here!" Wu Bin pushed open the door and saw a messy room.

He Yuxin leaned out from behind him, and the two of them entered the room one after another. It was a small living room with a small room on each side, with a bunk bed.

The two men checked the small room separately and found no danger. The tofu-like bedding was overturned on the ground, leaving footprints of the previous group of people.

"It's nothing, I was just scared by the dead body!" said He Yuxin.

Wu Bin squatted down and opened the lid to take a look. The corpse looked hideous and indeed scary at first glance. The corpse was not wearing a military uniform, so it should be an outsider, not a soldier in the barracks, and had died a long time ago.

"Let's go!" Wu Bin stood up and took her hand, and they walked out of the room.

When Dafeng saw Wu Bin, he spread his hands and Wu Bin shook his head at him. The only one left was Chen Guangjun.

Chen Guangjun also came back, holding two slightly stained marching backpacks in his hands.

"I found the ammunition room in the camp. There were only two backpacks. They can be used after being washed. What did you find?"

"No!" Dafeng and Jiang Hong both shook their heads.

"We only found dead bodies!" Wu Bin also shook his head.

"Go back!" said Chen Guangjun.

Several people returned to the car. Jiang Hong glanced at everyone and it seemed that no one wanted to speak.

When we returned to the convoy, the air was filled with the smell of blood. There were new zombie corpses lying on the ground, and everyone began to clean up the battlefield.

"Are there any casualties?" Wu Bin asked Qiao Xinghua.

"There were two unlucky ones who were attacked by mutant zombies!" Qiao Xinghua brought a few people to the dead body, and their friend was crying sadly.

"They were taking precautions outside when they were attacked by a night zombie. By the time Brother Tao found out, it was already too late. They were injured when they killed the night zombie, so..." Qiao Xinghua didn't say anything else. They could only take action to end it.

"Got it!" Wu Bin sighed and looked around. The place was a bit remote, with woods on both sides, so there was a high possibility of being attacked by zombies.

"I'll go and help, you organize the others!" Chen Guangjun said to Wu Bin and left to find Chen Haitao.

"Hurry up and make a way out, we are not far from our destination!" Wu Bin said, and left, followed by Dafeng and Qiao Xinghua.

He Yuxin stayed where she was. Meng Qi came up from behind and grabbed her hand, with some sadness in her eyes. They were in the same team and she witnessed the process of the two people being put in the bags.

He Yuxin patted the back of her hand gently, then let go of her hand to comfort the lost people.

Human life is fragile, and there’s no telling how many more sacrifices like this they’ll have to make.

Wu Bin organized people to use the RV's winch to tow away the abandoned vehicles on the road, creating enough space for the convoy to pass.

The sound of the engine will attract zombies. Chen Haitao and Chen Guangjun on the roof have to be very alert to detect and contain the danger in time.

When the lane was half cleared, there was a slight commotion in the convoy and Meng Zihan's hurried voice was heard over the intercom.

"Lu Qiqi ran away!"

"What's wrong?" Wu Bin grabbed the walkie-talkie.

"Qiqi broke free from her restraints and ran out when I wasn't paying attention. I'm chasing her. Qiqi~ah!" Meng Zihan said anxiously. She also ran out. When she saw Lu Qiqi running into the woods, she followed in.

"Zi Han!" Wu Bin shouted, but there was no response. Qiao Xinghua grabbed the intercom and shouted anxiously.

“Xiao Han, Xiao Han!”

But there was no response.

"Xinghua, you take command, Dafeng, let's go!" Wu Bin said and ran back to the convoy. Qiao Xinghua was anxious, but Dafeng assured him and caught up with Wu Bin.

Chen Guangjun discovered what had happened and got down from the roof of the car, where he saw two people running towards him.

"follow me!"

The two nodded. He Yuxin also came over with Meng Qi after hearing the voice. She wanted to follow.

"Yuxin, you stay and take care of everyone!" Wu Bin's words made her stop.

“But…!” Before she could finish her words, the three of them went into the woods and chased after her.

"Don't worry, nothing will happen!" Meng Qi comforted her, and Jiang Hong and Su Yun came slowly behind her.

"What happened?"

Meng Qi glared at him, meaning why are you so slow!

Su Yun felt something was wrong so he left Jiang Hong and ran away. Sure enough, Meng Qi came up and slapped Jiang Hong on the arm.

"I'm just asking!" Jiang Hong looked puzzled.

Meng Qi didn't say anything, but signaled to Qiao Xinghua with her eyes. Jiang Hong didn't dare to be dissatisfied and turned around and ran to help.

Here, Wu Bin was running while calling Meng Zihan, and he picked up the walkie-talkie she had dropped on the ground before he ran far.

Dafeng looked at Wu Bin, meaning what to do? Chen Guangjun looked at the footprints on the ground, and the footprints on the fallen leaves were somewhat obvious.

The three followed the footprints and not long after they went, they saw a zombie's body with its head pierced by a sharp weapon.

A bamboo forest appeared in front of the woods, and further ahead there was a small village. The footprints were already very shallow here.

Meng Zihan's voice came from far ahead.

The three of them immediately ran towards the small village, and then they saw several violent zombies surrounding a tree, one of which had a spear stuck in its body. Meng Zihan's voice came from the tree: "Here, I'm here!"

She was about to cry. She couldn't deal with these zombies. Fortunately, there was a tree nearby. She climbed up using her hands and feet. Otherwise, she would have become their food.

"Damn it, how can you be a hero if you bully a little girl?" Dafeng roared fiercely and rushed over.

Wu Bin and the other man were unwilling to be left behind, so they rushed forward and put an end to them completely with the weapons in their hands.

These zombies are survivors who mutated not long ago. No wonder Meng Zihan couldn't handle them all at once.

Wu Bin and Chen Guangjun stabbed the zombies to death, while Dafeng made them fly on a plane, giving them a comminuted fracture. There was a sound of bones breaking when they came into contact, and the zombies flew backwards, which was very entertaining.

After two or three rounds, all the zombies were lying on the ground, Wu Bin said to Meng Zihan.

Meng Zihan came down from the tree tremblingly. She was shaking violently and needed to take a break.

"Are you OK?"

"No!" Meng Zihan quickly shook her head. She was relieved when Wu Bin found no external injuries during the examination. Otherwise, she would have no way to explain to Qiao Xinghua.

He couldn't lose Lu Qiqi again, so Dafeng pulled out the zombie spear and gave Meng Zihan a thumbs up.

"Where did you see Qiqi run to?" Wu Bin asked after taking a look at the environment in front of him.

"I only saw her running here. I didn't see her when I came down and ran into these zombies!" Meng Zihan pointed at the corpse on the ground and suddenly burst into tears again: "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have chased her out. If I had kept an eye on her, everything would have been fine...!"

Meng Zihan felt very guilty and she didn't dare to think further.

"It's not your problem. When a person is determined to commit suicide, only the King of Hell can stop him!" Wu Bin didn't blame Meng Zihan. No one would blame her either. She had been taking care of Lu Qiqi during this period and had become much more haggard. Everyone saw it.

"It was Qiqi's own choice. I was surprised that she could run so fast without eating or drinking!" said Wu Bin.

"Although Qiqi doesn't talk much, she is a good girl and she is loyal to love. She is Li Xun's blessing, but also their misfortune!" Chen Guangjun spoke. After all, she didn't figure it out and didn't have the courage to face it.

"Should we continue to pursue her?" Dafeng said. He didn't have much feeling for Lu Qiqi, but she was his own.

Meng Zihan recovered, and several people went into the village to look for Qiqi. The buildings in the village were relatively scattered, and there were zombies in twos and threes. The zombie that just died at the hands of the three people was a recent mutator, and there were survivors active here.

Meng Zihan only saw Qiqi running here, but no one was there, so a few people searched around, and then found a piece of clothing next to a stone, and confirmed that it was left by Lu Qiqi.

Following the search, several people found it and their mood suddenly became heavy.
