Reborn Daughter: The Young Lady Wants to Make a Trouble

Chapter 280 I Never Want to See You Again

Li Xueyue should know that Li Chenyang's seat gave her a clear view of the door. When Wen Jinkai came in, the first person he saw was her, and she visibly sipped her tea. The plot unfolded either unbelievably, chaotically, or both.

"Excuse me," Wen Jinkai said, his attention still focused on her. There was another person sitting at the table with his back to him.

"I have to confirm something Xueyue told me in the palace on the night of the riot," Wen Jinkai explained. He continued walking towards the dining table, not caring that the Li family had not yet invited him to dinner.

Wen Jinkai reached out to grab the motionless woman, but was blocked by Li Wenmin who stood up.

"Let's go." Wen Jinkai ordered.

"First." King Li Chenyang groaned. "Commander, which side are you on?"

"I came here alone, without any entourage. I left my weapon at the main gate. I did not accuse you of any crime. Whose side do you think I am on?" Wen Jinkai spat.

Li Xueyue continued to drink her tea, the taste lingering on the tip of her tongue. It was a mixture of chamomile and wild forest honey, which had a calming effect. The two men she told this secret to had never trusted her until now. It was all so funny. It just showed how little they trusted her.

Her attention shifted to Li Wenmin, who still did not leave his seat.

Li Wenmin didn't let Wen Jinkai get close to Li Minghua. Especially after the diary revealed what the commander had done to his sister. The commander's hands were stained with too much blood. Blood enough to stain Li Minghua's white sleeves. Blood stains that could never be washed away.

"Do you want to die?" Wen Jinkai asked. "General Li, do you understand the crime you are committing now?"

Li Wenmin narrowed his eyes. He didn’t care that Wen Jinkai’s clenched jaws ticked as the seconds ticked. He didn’t care at all about his commander’s patience. His family was more important than respect for a military title. He would gamble his reputation to save Minghua.

Li Minghua finally returned home. Li Wenmin would not risk losing her again.

"What is your purpose with her?" Li Wenmin asked. "Hasn't your harm to her been enough? Why did you come here? To confirm whether the woman you abandoned in the palace is still alive?"

"Little General, it's no problem for me to crush you to death like a bug, but don't make me use violence in front of her." Wen Jinkai said angrily.

Li Minghua froze at his words. He was threatening her brother. Although the twins annoyed her, she still cherished Wenmin who stood by her when no one was around.

Li Minghua wished she could do something about it. She couldn’t even speak up for her own brother. Even after all this, she was still a coward.

"I have sacrificed my family like a lamb for what they did to Minghua. You can at least let me see the result of my pain!" Wen Jinkai roared. Without warning, he pushed Li Wenmin aside.

Li Wenmin was stunned for a moment, but it was too late. Wen Jinkai grabbed Minghua and turned her around.

"Commander Wen!" Duchess Wang Qixing's voice was filled with deep disappointment and anger. She was unable to stop the brute force of the powerful commander.

For the first time in their lives, they saw the impossible. Wen Jinkai fell to his knees. Wen Jinkai's emotions fluctuated faster than the tides on a stormy night. First there was surprise, then confusion, and then disbelief. His eyes widened as he held out his shaking hands to her. He looked like he had seen a ghost.

“Little guy?” Wen Jinkai muttered in surprise. He couldn’t accept the woman in front of him. She was Minghua, but she was also not Minghua. The light in her eyes was replaced by shadows. The hope and glimmer were gone. She was thrown into the cruel reality that her family had sheltered her from.

Li Minghua is no longer the innocent little girl she was two years ago. Everything has changed. She has changed.

Wen Jinkai didn't want to believe it. This wasn't her. This wasn't the Minghua who laughed without restraint. A soul as desolate as hers couldn't possibly make a bell-like laugh. She wasn't his Minghua.

"Why are you so surprised?" Li Minghua asked. "You look scared of the truth. I'm not that stupid girl anymore."

Wen Jinkai stood up. Her movements were like her, her voice was like her, but she was not her. "You are not my Minghua."

"The Minghua you knew died in the palace a long time ago. It was your negligence that killed her." Li Minghua said. She had a lot to say, but she couldn't. She would rather maintain her dignity.

After all these years, her heart still ached for him. Li Minghua had seen Wen Jinkai's profile many times when she visited the Second Prince. He never stayed long enough for her to see him in full. The first time she did so in two years was when he roughly grabbed her throat in front of Li Xueyue.

"I want to be better to you," Wen Jinkai began. He stepped closer to her, but stopped immediately when she drew back. "I really didn't mean to--"

"You didn't mean to believe the Queen's lies? Or do you simply not want to believe the Fourth Prince's words instead of mine? Oh no, maybe you didn't mean to find a replacement for me, what do you mean?" What is the commander going to do? "

Wen Jinkai opened his lips in shock. She had never spoken to him like this. Her tone had never been so rough, and her words had never been so arrogant. The woman he once loved deeply would never treat him like this. What on earth happened to those timid smiles and shy glances?

“I never want to see you again, Commander Wen,” Li Minghua said without hesitation. She didn’t mean to do that. She never could. Even now, the pain spread to her chest. She felt like someone had pierced her heart with a knife.

Li Minghua didn't dare to look him in the eye. She was too afraid to fall in love with him again.

Regret weighed heavily on his shoulders and sadness filled his eyes. Both of them regretted the past, but neither dared to admit it. She wished she hadn't fallen in love with him, and he wished he could love her better.

"sorry."

The sudden apology made Li Minghua raise her head sharply. It was just two simple words, but it had such a great impact on her. It was the last sentence he said before leaving the restaurant. He never looked back once. He never fought for her. History repeated itself again. She pushed him away, hoping that he would catch up with her. But he didn’t.

Wen Jinkai ignored her answer and left.

Li Minghua tried to blink back tears of heartbreak, and she did. She bit the inside of her cheek, hoping and praying for some distraction. In the end, she could do nothing but burst into tears.
