"I don't want to live in the palace." Li Minghua said angrily. The dinner had just begun, and she had already changed into another set of clothes. It was lighter than the previous one, but still heavy.

Li Xueyue ignored Li Minghua. Everyone was looking at them.

All the ministers and important nobles attended the grand banquet.

The celebration included musicians, a festive atmosphere, and delicious food. Gifts and greetings were given to the Lee family in a show of support.

"What kind of tea is this?" Li Minghua complained. "I like the one my mother makes."

Li Xueyue found nothing wrong with the tea. It was well brewed and had a strong flavor but not too strong. She raised the teacup to her lips and drank it all in one gulp.

No one seemed to care about Li Minghua. His father listened carefully to what Chen Yang said, while his mother quietly scolded Wen Min for eating too much in front of everyone.

Li Xueyue wanted to escape into the night. The huge banquet venue was suffocating.

Curtains hung from the high ceilings and lights seemed to float above their heads. It was a picturesque celebration in the large fields behind the palace.

In the distance, crickets chirped and fish occasionally splashed in the pond. If you looked far enough, you could see fireflies dancing.

Everything about the scenery was perfect. Too bad it was ruined by fake and forced smiles. Everyone was too eager to please the new royal.

"Too domineering." Li Xueyue finally said. She turned her eyes to Minghua who was sitting next to her.

Li Minghua snorted and pushed the plate away. "Of course it is. Everyone is looking at us. There are so many prying eyes full of questions."

Li Xueyue bit her lower lip. She could see the curiosity behind their sickeningly sweet smiles.

"The eldest daughter of the Li family has not appeared in public for two and a half years. What happened to her? When did the Li family have a new daughter? Where did she come from?" Li Minghua expressed the questions that the guests might have in their minds.

“I bet they have something more sinister in mind,” Li Minghua added. She shrugged. “So many questions, so few answers.”

"If they are smart, they will shut up." Li Xueyue raised the corners of her lips slightly.

From a distance, one would have thought the two were chatting in a friendly manner about what color clothes to wear tomorrow. In fact, they were tired of everything here.

"It's great that you can go to Hanjian. The real problem will come soon." Li Minghua said, gently turning the teacup in her hand. She was careful not to let the wind blow through her sleeves, otherwise her burns would be exposed.

"I might encounter more conflicts in Hanjiang than in Wuyi," said Li Xueyue.

There were plates of snacks in front of her, but she had no appetite.

"I can't keep him," Li Minghua muttered. She sighed thoughtfully and continued to play with the edge of the teacup.

"I don't think so," Li Xueyue said. She raised the cup to her lips. Through her eyelashes, she saw him even in the crowd. One would think that his attention was focused on her, but that was not the case. He looked intently at the woman beside him.

"He's watching you." Li Minghua gritted her teeth and said. Her blood was boiling. "Don't mess with me--"

"Touch your mouth." Li Xueyue ordered.

"what?"

"just do it."

Li Minghua was puzzled, but she did as she was told. Her fingers briefly brushed across her lips, and then her lips curled under her chin, as if she was lost in thought.

"That's it." Li Xueyue thought. "His gaze can bore a hole in your face."

Li Minghua refused to respond. She turned her eyes to the table and picked up a piece of cake.

Li Xueyue sat in the chair relaxedly. Minghua finally calmed down. She wondered how little self-esteem Minghua had. Why did she doubt herself so much? For such an arrogant and irritable person, Li Minghua really hated herself.

Li Xueyue was too lazy to interfere in her enemy's life.

"Second prince."

"I'm afraid of him and his abilities, but now, I'm safe, right? No one here dares to attack me. It's not--" Li Minghua interrupted herself. She bit her tongue hard, she actually had such a thought.

“You’re right.” Li Xueyue poked. “No one has the courage to hurt Wen Jinkai’s woman.”

"I don't care." Li Xueyue said expressionlessly. "Keep your doubts to yourself."

Li Minghua closed her mouth, partly because she was tired of Xueyue's accuracy. She should know that the quietest people are the easiest to observe. Otherwise, why would they remain silent for so long?
