"Tell me the truth." Li Xueyue asked. "Who is she to you?"

Yu Zhen pursed his lips. She had only been here for a few days, but their relationship was already shaky. Didn't she trust him? Was that the case? His mood darkened at the thought of this unwelcome thought.

"Excellently?" she asked.

"Before you arrived, I had already announced to the court that I would marry a servant."

Li Xueyue was stunned by his words. She felt as if cold water had been poured on her face. What did he just say?

"Of course, this was a cover-up, to scare the ministers into thinking I would marry someone of lower status than themselves, so that they would be happy when I proposed marriage to you, a foreign princess." "I changed my mind and they would accept the new proposal. They did, flawlessly."

Li Xueyue gritted her teeth. Did the Hanjian court hate Wuyi so much that it only considered her as a second choice? She didn't like it at all.

"Xu Jiaqi, it's nothing to me." Yu Zhen's tone was serious, and he didn't sound like a lie.

He reached for her hand, but she moved it away, pretending to adjust her sleeve. "Snow Moon," he warned. He tried to grab her again, but she stepped away.

“I don’t think so,” she said. “I saw the way she looked at you, with such admiration in her eyes, that I—”

"None of this matters to me." Yu Zhen said expressionlessly. He walked towards her, and she had enough courage to stand her ground.

Yet her gaze was filled with malice. Her eyes were fierce waves of earthy brown, a color so surreal he didn't think it was real. He had never seen her eyes as bright as hers, yet they were pitch black when she was angry.

"Trust me, my little sunshine," Yu Zhen consoled her. He put his hands on her waist, but she refused to look up at him. She refused to meet his gaze or listen to him.

"You can't be so stubborn," he whispered to her.

Yu-jin grasped her fingers and shook her hand. His lip twitched as she continued to burn a hole in his shoulder with her fury.

It's hard not to kiss her. She's cuter when she's angry. Maybe it's because she's so short that it's hard to come across as threatening.

"You are cute in this side too." Yu Zhen thought, raised his finger and placed a kiss on the fingertip.

Li Xueyue pulled her hand away, but he fought back, pulling her toward him until their chests were pressed together.

Her eyes widened as he craned his neck. His face was close to hers. His onyx eyes had a familiar gleam in them—like a predator eyeing its prey. His mouth curled into a sly smile.

She tensed as he bent his neck. His soft lips brushed against her ear. She shivered at his touch, his hot breath fanning her earlobe.

"Yuzhen," she called out in a threatening voice, but he ignored her. Her eyes widened. Then he gently bit her earlobe.

"Let's have some fun," he mused.

"Are you crazy?" she hissed.

"No, are you?" he retorted.

Li Xueyue pulled away and saw his playful smile. His obsidian eyes were shining.

Seeing her blushing, Yu Zhen chuckled. "What do you think I'm hinting at?"

Li Xueyue refused to fall into this game again. She crossed her arms and put her chin to one side.

“Wow, is the little hamster angry?” Yu Zhen poked her cheek again and again. It felt soft to the touch, but lacked the familiar elasticity.

"Don't bother me," she complained.

“So she can talk!” Yu Zhen exclaimed, like a magic trick. Her nose wrinkled at his words.

"Does this irritate you more?" he mused.

She ignored him.

"If you don't talk to me, I'll continue to annoy you," he promised. Her lips were tightly sealed.

Yu Zhen narrowed his eyes. A wry smile appeared on his face. All right then. He grabbed her cheeks and tried to pull, but to no avail. He squeezed tighter and watched her eyes sparkle. She wanted to say something. But didn't.

Suddenly, an idea occurred to me. His smile widened eerily.

Without warning, she was pulled toward him. Her arms were still crossed, and she continued to gaze to the side, exposing her neck to him. He pounced and pressed a kiss to the exposed skin.

She leaped into his arms, but he kept going. He bit and kissed, trailing open-mouthed kisses down her neck. When he found where her shoulder met her neck, he sucked. His grip on her tightened. Her knees buckled a little, but he held her in place.

Li Xueyue bit her tongue. She tried to ignore the warmth spreading through her body. His hands began to move, and she let out a trembling breath. Only then did she realize what he was doing.

"you-"

Her eyes widened as he captured her lips. She refused to kiss him back, her lips pressed tightly together. But he was cruel.

He bit her bottom lip, causing her to gasp. Just like that, he was granted access. His slick tongue slid inside until she finally kissed him back.

He moved her body back until her back was against the bookshelf. One hand slammed down the side of her neck as he steadied them both. A second later, his fingers dug into her hair and he tilted her head to deepen the kiss.

Their lips fit together perfectly. His tongue swirled around hers, controlling hers with ease. The kiss was hot and passionate.

He bit the corner of her lips lightly, causing her to tremble and gasp. But before long, their lips collided again.

Yu Zhen was as ruthless as ever. He bit, sucked, and licked her as he pleased until she turned into a ball of mud in his hands.

He kissed her until she was on her tiptoes, unable to run, unable to fight. When he finally let her go, she was already panting. Her head rested on his solid chest, breathing hard.

"Do you think this is our fun?" Yu Zhen teased her. He slowly pulled his hands out of her soft hair. Strands of it hung on his fingers and he played with it.

"That wasn't fun," she lied.

“Is it really now?” Yu Zhen pinched his chin and spoke. He raised it until he looked down at her. Her cheeks were flushed. Her eyes were hazy. Heat gathered below his abdomen.

Rose-red lips greeted him. He had done this to her. Trapped between his warm body and the bookshelves, she had nowhere to escape but into his arms. She was completely desperate. He could do whatever he wanted.

She thought he would. But he didn't.

Yu Zhen stroked the sides of her cheeks instead. Her eyes trembled shut. Her heart skipped a beat as his lips pressed against her forehead. It was a chaste, gentle kiss that left her wanting more.

“You can’t bite off more than you can chew,” Yu Zhen muttered.

His hands slid down her shoulders until they rested comfortably on her back. She leaned against him, fully supporting her weight.

Li Xueyue leaned her face against his chest while his other hand played with her hair. She didn't realize her hairpin had slipped off until she found it next to her shoe. Touching her bruised lips, she knew he was right.

But she would never admit it, not because she was stubborn, but because it would hurt his self-esteem.
