Pirates: Devour All Evil

Chapter 6: Waking up from a deep sleep

"Ah~ Why hasn't Labang come yet?"

"Yeah, do we just trust a child like that?"

"Shut up. If you don't want to die, then continue to strengthen your defense instead of blaming each other. Even if Labang doesn't come tonight, we won't lose anything, right?"

Seeing that Captain Dalton of the Kingdom's Royal Guard had spoken, the two guards, who were already a little impatient, did not say another word, but stood there conscientiously like a pine tree.

In order to avoid the wind and snow, the guards consciously stood in the houses towards the outskirts of the village. Otherwise, they would be frozen to death before Labang arrived, which would be extremely uncomfortable.

"Click..."

There was a sound of breaking branches in the distance. In this quiet night, even the slightest sound would be infinitely amplified.

"Alert, everyone on alert."

Dalton whispered to the guards.

Suddenly, Labang, who had a horrible scar on his left eye, rushed straight towards the village. He even grinned a cruel and humane smile, as if he was happy that his sneak attack was about to succeed.

"Captain, should we blow the whistle?"

A guard asked the captain in a low voice.

Dalton shook his head.

"Hi~"

The leading Labang made a low sound similar to the cry of a snake, and in the blink of an eye, more than a dozen Labangs rushed out of the woods and began to charge.

"Li!"

Following a sharp osprey whistle, the same osprey whistle was sounded all over the village. After that, only the place where Dalton was was constantly sounding osprey whistles.

Afterwards, the whole village was brightly lit, and almost every household turned on their oil lamps. Even those who did not have oil lamps lit up the torches that had been prepared in advance, trying to leave no dark places so that there would be no blind spots in the vision, thus eliminating the possibility of Labang's sneak attack.

"Ahh... finally, Labang is here?"

Karsus opened his sleepy eyes, walked to the sink, splashed cold water on his face, slapped his cheeks hard, took a deep breath of cold air, and exhaled heavily.

"Ha~ I'm awake now. The quilt really is a warm trap. Once you fall into it, it's hard to get out."

Indeed, it is such a wonderful thing to be able to lie in a warm quilt on this cold winter island!

After wiping off the remaining water droplets on his face, Karsus subconsciously looked in front of him. He felt a little uncomfortable not seeing the mirror he had not seen for a long time, but maybe he would get used to it after more experiences in the future.

Karsus did not see his appearance but was not discouraged. He walked out of the bathroom, came to the living room, picked up an iron oil lamp on the table and began to trot towards the direction of the Osprey whistle.

Karsus was jogging because he was afraid that Labang would attack. If he ran at full speed and had no strength left when Labang attacked, it would be tantamount to seeking death, so he had to save some strength to kill Labang.

The journey was safe and there was no sight of Labang, which meant that Labang had concentrated all his forces on Dalton and was planning a strong attack.

"Then I have to go there quickly. I can also learn some fighting skills."

As the cycle was speaking it sped up, the village wasn't very big and it soon reached Dalton.

Karsus almost vomited his overnight meal when he saw the scene in front of him. As someone who had never been to a battlefield or fought before, he still couldn't bear the sight of a battlefield.
