Genshin Impact [Outsider]

Chapter 3 City Defense

Su Li racked her brains but could not think of any way to transport these sand pigs. The only solution now was to find someone to help, but there happened to be few people in the wilderness.

"It seems that I can only look for it nearby." Su Li scratched his head and glanced at the harvested sand pigs. "Given their size, I don't know how the meat tastes. I must try it when I get back." Su Li was not afraid that someone would come to steal his prey. After all, he really didn't believe that anyone could lift these sand pigs easily.

As expected, Su Li soon found a sentry post not far away. Su Li had hardly noticed it from a distance. The earthy brown color, like the sand, and the short roof made this sentry post look like a mound of earth.

Su Li walked over quickly and looked around the sentry post, which made her a little suspicious. "Is there really someone else in this place..."

Su Li knocked on the door gently, "Is anyone there?"

……

After a long time, there was no response. Su Li knocked three times in a row, but got no response.

"No one is here... Is he out on patrol, or is this place already deserted?" Su Li turned the bolt tentatively, and the door opened with a click.

Su Li hesitated at first, but since the door was already open, it would be better to take a look, in case someone was resting. Su Li gently pushed the door open and looked inside the sentry post, but the next moment he was stunned.

Su Li slowly pushed the door open, letting the light in. He was not mistaken, there was a person slumped against the wall beside the table in the sentry post.

Su Li called out, but seeing that he didn't respond, she hurriedly walked over to him, squatted down, put her hand in front of his nose, and then sighed.

"He's dead." Su Li stood up. Judging from his attire and plate armor, he should be Xingji's city defender.

Su Li carefully observed his body and found that a dagger had been deeply stabbed into his abdomen. It seemed that he died from this fatal wound. Was there only one guard here? Or...

Before Su Li could think about it, there was a loud noise outside the door. Then a figure blocked the door, "Hey, who are you!"

Su Li turned around and saw a man with the same decoration as the one lying on the ground. At this moment, he was holding a long sword and staring at him vigilantly. There was no doubt that he was also a guard here.

"Well... I wanted to find someone to help me, so I came here, but I didn't expect..." Su Li looked at him helplessly and continued to explain: "Anyway, I definitely didn't kill him. I hunted five sand pigs nearby, but I couldn't carry them away, so I came here to find someone to help."

The guard looked at Su Li suspiciously, "You said you took down five sand pigs by yourself, without any help from your companions?"

Su Li nodded, "That's right, if you don't believe me I can take you to see it."

After hearing this, the guards slowly put away their weapons. "I'm sorry, I misunderstood you." He stood at attention and saluted, then said to Su Li seriously, "If you are here to complete the commission, then you must be an adventurer."

Su Li could only nod and respond: "I guess so."

The city defenders no longer hesitated and came straight to Su Li. "Since you are an adventurer, I hope you can accept my commission." He solemnly explained to Su Li: "We were attacked by a treasure-stealing group and are in urgent need of manpower. If you can assist us, I will pay you 300,000 Mora after the attack."

Su Li was shocked when he heard this. Three hundred thousand Mora was much more than assisting in patrols, so it was definitely a good deal. But then he hesitated. After all, the guards were a little overwhelmed, so the opponent must not be too weak.

"Who are the treasure-stealing group?" Su Li did not agree immediately. He planned to understand the situation first. If possible, it would not be too late for him to agree.

"They are just a group of thieves. They drifted across the sea and came to our place. Not only did they steal things everywhere, they even destroyed the statues that our Lord Miao worked so hard to build." The guards complained about their dissatisfaction with them. "This is not the worst. Although they did bad things before, at least they didn't take the initiative to cause trouble. But later, I don't know what happened. They started to attack nearby residents like crazy, and now they even come to our place to cause trouble!"

The guard looked at his dead brother leaning against the wall, sighed, and said resentfully: "Originally, this brother and I were patrolling nearby. When I heard his screams, he had already been stabbed by the treasure-stealing group. I wanted to chase the murderer, but I didn't chase him because I was afraid that he would get into trouble."

He punched his chest hard, suppressed his inner grief and continued, "But the knife was poisoned, and by the time I carried him back, it was too late... Damn the treasure-stealing group!"

Su Li briefly understood the situation. The Treasure Stealers didn't seem like a difficult enemy to deal with. "I understand. I promised to help you. Do I have to go fight now?"

The guards nodded. "Yes, our people are still resisting their attack. They have at least thirty people, while we only have a dozen. The situation is very unfavorable for us. With your joining, I believe we can win!"

Su Li did not hesitate and followed the guards out of the sentry post and rushed towards the direction where the battle was taking place.

"Brothers, hold on, don't let them disrupt the formation!" A dozen people gathered together, huddled together nervously, forming a vigilance circle with no blind spots.

Opposite them, there was a group of masked people of different heights and statures. All of them were dressed in grey cloth. Some of them held daggers and kept throwing them at the guards, while others held strange bottles and were looking for opportunities to throw them at the guards.

"Boss, they are quite stubborn. We can't deal with them in a short time." A member of the treasure-stealing group said to his burly accomplice beside him.

"We have no choice but to get rid of them all. Otherwise, we won't be able to explain to the leader when we return!" The treasure-stealing group member was somewhat helpless. "I don't know what's wrong with the leader. He suddenly became so violent that he even killed his brothers who had been through thick and thin with him..."

"Hurry up and leave. They are the guards. It will be troublesome if they come to support us later!"

"Don't worry, I've already checked. There's only this one sentry post nearby, and there are only a few guards left. If we wipe them out, this area will be ours."

Just when the treasure-hunting group was about to force their attack, an arrow flew over from nearby and directly pierced the calf of one of the treasure-hunting group.

"Ah!" With a scream, the treasure-stealing group member covered his right leg and fell to the ground, wailing in pain. "My leg, my leg..."

"There are archers!" A member of the treasure-hunting group hid behind a nearby tree, nervously looking around. "Damn it, why are there archers? Didn't they only have knives?"

"Brother, I don't know either. I watched them for a long time and they really don't have any archers."

"Could it be reinforcements..." Before he could finish, a sharp arrow whistled in, pierced through the tree, and stabbed directly into the back of his head. As the arrow disappeared, the treasure-stealing group also lost their fulcrum and fell down.

"Boss...Boss!" The treasure-stealing group suddenly panicked. They had no idea where these arrows were shot from, let alone come up with a countermeasure.

"Their leader is dead, brothers, charge!" After the guards found that they were in chaos, they did not hesitate. With an order, they charged forward with other companions and killed the treasure-stealing group that had not yet reacted.

The threat of hidden arrows and the direct confrontation made the treasure-stealing group completely disadvantaged at this moment. The survivors had already been frightened and fled in all directions. The guards quickly won the battle.

"Brothers, we won! Long live Xingji!" The general of the guards finally breathed a sigh of relief, and with his shout, the other guards cheered. They had thought they were going to die, but the sudden reversal of the battle situation undoubtedly brought them the joy of surviving a disaster.

Seeing that victory was certain, Su Li walked out with the guard. "Captain, I'm back with reinforcements!" The guard excitedly ran to the captain, saluted, and pointed at Su Li.

"Xiao Zheng? It's you! Didn't I tell you to run away..." The captain looked at Su Li with admiration and gratitude in his eyes. "Thanks to you!" He first hugged Xiao Zheng, then came to Su Li and saluted solemnly. "On behalf of our entire team, I thank you for your help!"

Su Li shook hands with him, "No, no, it's my duty."

The captain was not polite and pulled Su Li back. "Clean up the battlefield, and interrogate any survivors." He first instructed his men, then smiled and said to Su Li, "You are really amazing, a rare archer! I must thank you!"

Su Li also smiled. After all, he was an all-around martial arts expert, so it was easy for him to master common weapons. Su Li originally wanted to try to transform into a firearm in this world, but the result was predictable. He could imitate the action of pulling a string to shoot an arrow, but he could not imitate the action of a firearm to shoot a bullet.

Su Li can directly imagine arrows in her mind and make them her own power, but it is completely impossible for guns and the like. She can only see vague outlines and cannot display them at all.

Su Li had thought that maybe he could only transform things that existed in this world, and things that did not exist could not be materialized. However, even if many weapons could not be displayed, Su Li did not need to worry at all, after all, this ability was already very cheating.

Su Li suddenly thought of her sand pigs. It was getting late, so she could ask them to help her. "I just happened to need your help. I hunted five sand pigs nearby, but they were too big to be transported back to the village. Can you help me?"

The captain agreed without hesitation. "Of course, there is a camp near our outpost with carts. I'll have someone bring a few carts over and take the sand pigs back. I'll also treat you to a big meal!"

Xiao Zheng also followed at this time, "Captain, this is an adventurer. I just asked him to help us. Wait, is it..."

The captain was stunned at first, then burst into laughter. "Hahaha, you are quite smart, it's just a small matter, I'll report it to the finance department later and settle the salary for my benefactor!"

"Yes!"
