Naruto: My Eye Technique is Infinite

Chapter 17 Hokage Election

The setting sun was like blood, and the afterglow fell on the roofs of the ninja village. Madara, Amamizu, Tobirama, Itama, and Izuna walked into Hashirama's residence one by one. Inside the house, a round wooden table was quietly placed, with a few cushions scattered around. The bamboo forest outside the window was quiet and deep, and occasionally a few birds chirped, breaking the tranquility.

Hashirama stood quietly by the window, his back tall and steady, like an indestructible mountain. The sunlight shone through the window onto him, outlining his sharply defined figure. His gaze was deep and distant, as if he had traveled through endless time, staring at the unreachable future.

"Thank you for coming." He turned around slowly, his tone calm and firm, like the warm sun in winter, making people feel extremely safe and warm. His eyes were as calm as water.

However, in stark contrast to Hashirama's calmness, Madara frowned slightly, his heart full of doubts and confusion. As a man of action, he was not interested in such mysterious gatherings. He preferred to face the problem directly and solve it, rather than listen to some empty words here.

"Hashirama, what important thing do you want to tell us? Stop keeping us in suspense!" Madara's voice was filled with obvious impatience and confusion. His eyes were sharp as he stared at Hashirama, trying to find the answer from his expression.

Hashirama nodded slightly, his eyes as sharp as torches, sweeping over everyone present.

"Yes, I have a proposal, and this proposal concerns the future of our village." His voice was deep and powerful, as if it contained endless wisdom and power. He sat down slowly, and then waved his hand to signal everyone to sit down as well.

"I want to create a brand new position, a position called 'Hokage'. This position will be held by the most capable and trustworthy person among us. He will be responsible for protecting our leader, while also maintaining peace and tranquility in the entire Fire Nation. What do you think?" Hashirama's voice was full of expectation and determination. He believed that his proposal would be recognized by everyone.

Tianshui raised his eyebrows, looking a little excited. This was a historical witness. "Hokage? That sounds like a big responsibility." His voice was full of anticipation.

Tobirama and Itama exchanged complicated looks, they knew what this meant. Izuna remained calm as always, her eyes fixed on Hashirama, waiting for his next words.

Hashirama took a deep breath. "Yes, this is a great responsibility. I have observed you for a long time, and I think Madara is the most suitable person to be the first Hokage." His voice was full of trust and expectation.

Madara was stunned. He didn't expect Hashirama to make such a suggestion. "Me? But why me? I just want to protect my brother." His voice was full of confusion and confusion.

Hashirama smiled and shook his head. "No, Madara, you have the qualities of a leader and the determination to protect the villagers. Your strength, wisdom, and loyalty to the village make you the best choice." His voice was full of appreciation and affirmation.

Madara was silent, struggling in his heart. Becoming Hokage meant that he would give up many personal freedoms and take on the responsibility of protecting everyone. But he also knew that this was for the future of the village and for all the people he loved.

Tianshui broke the silence. "I support Madara to become Hokage. He does have qualities that we don't have." His voice was full of support and encouragement.

Tobirama and Itama also nodded, and Izuna's voice was calm and firm. "If this is for the future of the village, then I also support Madara." Her voice was full of determination and belief.

Madara looked at the companions who had fought alongside him over the years, and felt warmed by their support. He took a deep breath, and then looked at Hashirama firmly. "If I become Hokage, I will do my best to protect this village and every villager." His voice was full of determination and commitment.

Hashirama nodded with satisfaction, knowing that he had made the right choice. "However, I can only recommend Madara as a candidate for Hokage, but the final choice needs to be decided after listening to the opinions of the Land of Fire Daimyo and the people of the village, and then communicating with the higher-ups. This is no longer the era of my father." His voice was full of seriousness and earnestness.

Hashirama reminded everyone seriously: "We have to hurry. In addition to the Uchiha and Senju families, the Sarutobi and Shimura families are also interested in joining us. I'm afraid they will also be involved." His voice was full of urgency and worry.

Madara asked back in confusion: "Really? Are you kidding?" His voice was full of confusion and puzzlement.

Hashirama looked forward and said, "Not only that, there are many other families interested in joining us. This village will continue to grow." His voice was full of anticipation and longing.

Izuna declared confidently: "Speaking of candidates for the position of Hokage, who else is qualified besides the six of us?" Her voice was full of confidence and pride.

Tianshui half-jokingly suggested: "Why don't the six of us run for election together, and those who are not elected will be responsible for other village affairs. But let me make it clear first, no matter what the result is, we must not hold grudges against each other because of it." His voice was full of ease and humor.

Everyone agreed with this suggestion. The election rules are as follows: The election is divided into two rounds, both of which adopt real-name voting. The first round lasts for three days, and the two candidates with the highest votes are selected; the second round lasts for one day, and the final decision on the candidate for Hokage is based on public opinion, supplemented by the support of the daimyo.

The news of the Hokage election spread quickly throughout the village. Ballot boxes popped up in every corner, and each polling station was managed by a dedicated person. For the villagers, this kind of election was new. Now that they had the opportunity to choose on their own, everyone wanted to choose the best Hokage in their hearts. These six candidates were all outstanding in the ninja world, both in strength and prestige. Faced with such a choice, it was indeed difficult to make a decision.

As the voting began and ended, the moment of the first round of voting results finally arrived. The tense atmosphere condensed in the air, as if water could drip out. Then, Madara's votes were also read out, and he followed closely behind, with only a few votes behind.

That night, the moment of the result announcement came, with Hashirama and Madara leading by a narrow margin, followed closely by the other candidates. The votes were almost evenly matched, showing that the villagers' support for the candidates was quite dispersed. There was a murmur among the crowd, as if they were both surprised by the result but also found it reasonable.

Finally, the two founders of Konoha Village, Hashira and Madara, entered the next round of voting.

Tianshui set out on his way home alone, revealing a hint of loneliness in his steps. However, when he pushed the door open and saw Mito, all his disappointment disappeared like smoke. The two of them were together, and the sweet atmosphere filled the air, and their happiness was beyond words. Tianshui promised that he would hold a grand wedding after this busy period. After hearing this, Mito stared at Tianshui with expectation, and their eyes were tightly intertwined, as if silently telling their vision for the future, and then welcoming a new day together.

At dawn the next day, Tianshui quietly placed breakfast at the door of Mito's room, then turned and left, heading towards Madara's residence. He took out the medical ninjutsu secret book that he had exchanged in the mall in advance and handed it to Madara, hoping that this secret book would increase his popularity when he ran for Hokage. Although Madara disdained such petty tricks and wanted to defeat his opponent with his real ability, Tianshui persuaded him that the family that had just joined Konoha had frequent contacts with the Senju clan and had already intended to betray, and this superb medical ninjutsu was the weapon to disintegrate their alliance. Tianshui reminded him earnestly: "Brother Madara, having no sword and holding a sword without wielding it are two different things."

Tianshui's words finally moved Madara, and he put the medical ninjutsu close to his chest. Tianshui then asked Madara to be the witness for his and Mito's wedding. Madara could not find a reason to refuse and gladly accepted the request. Tianshui did not stay any longer and stood up to say goodbye.

After leaving the Madara family, Tianshui went straight to the police department to take up his duty. He did not hide his whereabouts, and the movements of this trip were soon put on Tobirama's desk. Tobirama flipped through the intelligence, trying to figure out Tianshui's true intentions, but found that he could not detect any chance of a comeback, and finally decided to destroy the intelligence.

The second round of voting began, and the villagers cast their sacred votes one after another. The Senju and Uchiha clans actively canvassed for their candidates. Hashirama and Madara waited for the results to be announced in the newly built Hokage building.

The vote counting process was launched under the joint supervision of Amamizu, Izuna, Tobirama, and Itama. In the end, Madara led Hashirama by a narrow margin in the popular vote, while Hashirama won the support of the daimyo. Although the second round of elections was mainly based on public opinion, with the support of the daimyo in second place, anyone who really thought they could get rid of the influence of the daimyo could only be immature. After all, the economic lifeline of Konoha Village is still in the hands of the financial allocation of the Land of Fire, and the daimyo has the right to decide the amount of the allocation. Only when Konoha achieves financial independence can it completely get rid of the constraints of the daimyo.

Now, Madara and Hashirama are on the same starting line again. Tobirama suggested holding a round of campaign speeches, and both agreed and began to prepare their respective speeches.

Tianshui and Izuna assisted Ban in perfecting the speech. Tianshui spared no expense to exchange a large number of speeches from the previous life's presidential election in the United States from the mall as references, removed the unrealistic parts, and carefully polished out a wonderful speech.

Madara memorized the entire speech effortlessly. Tianshui told him to be natural and smile during the speech, to be approachable and not condescending. He also announced that the Uchiha clan would make all fire ninjutsu available for people to learn.

Madara was surprised by Tianshui's generosity. Tianshui smiled and explained that the reason why the Uchiha clan was famous in the ninja world was because of the blood limit of the Sharingan, and although the fire ninjutsu was powerful, it was an external thing after all. Once there was a ninjutsu scroll, anyone could learn it. The current ninja school was recruiting students of the right age. The Uchiha was willing to share the fire ninjutsu, which would not only help the growth of civilian ninjas, but also help the school recruit students smoothly. With their support, it was only a matter of time before he became Hokage.
