Chapter 241: Eastern Town

Qin Feng and his companions headed eastwards, their destination being a small town called Chenxi Town. Although this town was small, it was the commercial and intelligence center of the eastern region. Various merchants and travelers gathered here all year round, making it an excellent place to obtain information.

"We're finally reaching Chenxi Town." Zhang Meng stretched as he walked. "I've been walking so much these days that my legs are almost broken."

Qin Feng nodded and thanked him, put his luggage in the room, and then went downstairs with his friends to the hall for dinner. Zhang Meng couldn't wait any longer, and his mouth was watering as he smelled the fragrant dishes.

"I want a plate of barbecue and a pot of wine!" Zhang Meng said loudly.

"Haha, Brother Meng, you have to control your alcohol intake." Chu Tian said with a smile, "We still have to find out some information."

"Don't worry, I know what I'm doing." Zhang Meng waved his hand, but his eyes were fixed on the barbecue that had just been served.

Ye Li ordered a few light dishes, and Qin Feng ordered a pot of tea. They ate while observing the surroundings. There were people coming and going in the inn, including merchants, adventurers, and some townspeople in ordinary clothes.

"It seems that this is indeed a well-informed place." Ye Li whispered, "We need to find a suitable person to inquire about the information."

"Leave this task to me." Chu Tian smiled slightly, "I've always been good at dealing with people."

"Then be careful." Qin Feng reminded, "Don't attract unnecessary attention."

After finishing his meal, Chu Tian left the inn alone and wandered around the town. He walked into a tavern, sat at the bar, ordered a glass of wine, and then started chatting with the tavern owner.

The tavern owner was a plump middle-aged man with a kind smile on his face: "Of course. Our Dawn Town is the largest commercial center in the east, and there are many merchants coming and going."

The boss smiled, leaned in and whispered, "Little brother, since you asked, I'll tell you. Recently, there have been a lot of strangers moving around in town, and they don't look friendly. I heard they're looking for something."

The boss shook his head: "I don't know about that. However, some people say that they seem to be from a mysterious organization and they are not friendly. You have to be careful."

Chu Tian nodded, paid for the wine, and left the tavern. He knew that these people were likely followers of the Shadow Lord and he had to be careful.

After returning to the inn, Chu Tian told Qin Feng and his friends what he had learned. After hearing it, everyone felt that the situation was not good.

"It seems we have to be careful." Ye Li said, "These people may take action at any time."

"We can't wait for them to make the first move." Qin Feng thought for a moment, "We have to take the initiative to find them and see what they are looking for."

"Okay, let's go out and investigate tonight," Chu Tian suggested, "Maybe we can find some clues."

"I agree." Ye Li nodded. "It's more covert to operate at night and it's not easy to be discovered."

Zhang Meng also expressed his support: "I can't sit still anyway, so it's a good idea to go out and exercise."

Qin Feng decided to act: "Okay, everyone get ready and set off after dark."

As night fell, the town gradually quieted down. Qin Feng and his companions changed into black clothes that were easy to move in, quietly left the inn, and blended into the night.

"Brother Feng, where do you think those men in black will hide?" Ye Li asked in a low voice.

"It may be on the edge of the town, or in an abandoned building." Qin Feng replied, "We have to look carefully."

Walking to a remote alley, Qin Feng and Ye Li found a half-open wooden door, and there seemed to be light coming out from behind the door. Qin Feng signaled Ye Li to be careful, then gently pushed the door open and walked in.

Inside was an abandoned warehouse filled with old boxes and sundries. Qin Feng and Ye Li held their breath and slowly approached the direction of the light source. As they approached, they heard some whispers.

"Did you find the thing?" asked a deep voice.

"Not yet, but we have a clue." Another voice replied, "It is said to be in an ancient ruin outside of town."

Qin Feng and Ye Li looked at each other and knew they had found an important clue. Ye Li gestured to Qin Feng to retreat first and not to alert the enemy.

Just as they were about to leave, a figure suddenly appeared in front of them. The man had sharp eyes and had obviously noticed their presence.

"Who are you?" the man asked coldly, holding a dagger in his hand.

"Oh no, I've been discovered!" Qin Feng was shocked and drew out the Dragon Shadow Sword, blocking Ye Li.

"It seems we have no choice but to force our way in!" Ye Li said in a low voice.

Seeing that Qin Feng and Ye Li did not answer, the man immediately rushed over with a dagger. Qin Feng was quick-witted and swung his sword to block the dagger's attack, and the two quickly fought.

"Are you followers of the Lord of Shadows?" Qin Feng asked while fighting.

The man sneered: "You know too much!"

Ye Li assisted from the side, using spells to restrict the man's movements. The small space in the warehouse made the battle seem particularly fierce, and the sound of swords clashing seemed extremely harsh in the dark night.

Soon, the man found that he was no match for Qin Feng and turned around to escape. Qin Feng would never let him do that, so he quickly drew his sword and forced him back into the corner.

"What are you looking for?" Qin Feng asked.

The man's eyes flickered, and suddenly a strange smile appeared on the corner of his mouth: "You will never find it! The Lord of Shadows will be resurrected, and you will have nowhere to escape!"

After saying that, he suddenly pulled out a black bead from his arms and smashed it hard on the ground. A burst of thick smoke instantly erupted in the warehouse, and Qin Feng and Ye Li were choked and coughed, and their vision was also blocked by the thick smoke.

"Chase him!" Qin Feng shouted and rushed out of the thick smoke, but the man had disappeared.

"That's right!" Chu Tian and Zhang Meng answered in unison.
