The Split-Actress in Conan's World

Chapter 8 GRYNFIDDICK: Ah, Shirley—

Miyano Shiho moved the mouse and looked through the list of people that Gin had sent her not long ago.

This is the list of victims who have taken APTX4869 recently.

Most of the names were marked with a confirmed death, and a few targets were marked as unknown.

Gin asked her to confirm the conditions of those people and collect relevant data from any bodies that could be found.

The human experiment of APTX4869 had been stuck by her and no research had been carried out. Gin had been dissatisfied with this for a long time and therefore strongly demanded that she quickly conduct experiments in this regard.

She mustered up the courage to refuse, and Gin took away several batches of semi-finished products from the laboratory. Now it seems that he directly used the drug as poison.

Maybe the initial idea was to apply it on the human body to see the effect, but a series of death lists and the victims' causes of death that could not be traced made Gin naturally regard this thing as a poison to conveniently silence people.

It is also for this reason that her voice in the research center has been slightly reduced.

Ruffling her brown hair in annoyance, Miyano Shiho slumped back in her chair, feeling completely confused.

Since she was taken to the United States, she and her sister have never seen each other again. Now that she has finally returned to Japan, Gin has not responded to her request to see her sister...

Click.

With a crisp sound, the office door opened. Glenfiddich put his hands in his pockets and looked around with interest, without any sense of intrusion.

"Hey, Shirley." He pulled out his right hand and waved it twice, greeting casually, then grabbed a handful of children's candy and threw it into his mouth.

"Compared to the lab in New York, the conditions here seem terrible. Is Gin deliberately making things difficult for you again?"

The moment the door was pushed open, Miyano Shiho's heart skipped a beat, but she quickly controlled herself and calmed down.

For most members of the organization, their dangerous aura would induce fear in her, allowing her to detect their presence.

But Grenfiddich was a surprise. Perhaps it was because his ability to hide was too outstanding, or because he had no ill will towards Shirley, but she could never detect him approaching.

Maybe because he's a little silly?

Just like the big silly guy Vodka, she wasn't afraid.

When she was in the United States, Glenfiddich would often suddenly appear and scare her, so she developed a half-big heart.

"Although I've mentioned it many times, could you please try knocking on the door?" she choked unhappily.

Since she came back from the United States, she thought she would never see this bomb maniac again, but she ran into him again just a few days later.

"I didn't know the flight from New York to Tokyo was so fast."

Glenfiddich raised his eyebrows and said vaguely, "I don't like that kind of unsafe means of transportation."

Without dwelling on this topic for too long, he wandered around, fiddled with the instruments on the test bench, and half leaned on the table.

"Don't be so cold, Shirley. After all, we have known each other for several years. I think I've been pretty good to you, right?"

His pretending to be pitiful made Miyano Shiho frown, but she relaxed her eyebrows in the blink of an eye and said in the same artificial tone: "Oh, it's been a long time since we last met, Mr. Grenfiddich. I couldn't sleep all night when you were away."

Then he returned to his expressionless look and said calmly, "If that's what you want to hear, I can reluctantly satisfy you."

Grunfiddy crossed his arms exaggeratedly, looking as if he was struck by the cold. "Then there's no need for that. It's really a bit creepy to see an unlovable woman like you show that kind of attitude."

"But your habit hasn't changed." He turned and looked at the bottles and cans on the table. "Which one can I drink?"

Miyano Shiho took a sip of the warm coffee and pointed to one of them. "The one marked with FeCl3 is coffee powder."

"Hey, hey, after all, I know ferric chloride, you don't want to poison me to death, do you? Next time Gin bullies you, no one will help you!"

With a slight hum, she put down the coffee cup and walked to the test bench to make him a cup of coffee.

While she was away from her desk, Glenfiddich took the opportunity to look through her computer. Miyano Shiho tilted her head slightly to glance at her but said nothing.

"Gin is still so petty, sending researchers out on field trips."

"He has already used semi-finished drugs to kill people. Is this enough for him?" Miyano Shiho put the brewed coffee on the table and scooped out a spoonful of suspicious white gel from a petri dish nearby.

"I don't have any cream here, I only have condensed milk that I made when I was bored, is that okay?"

Grenfiddich looked up and said, "Oh, that's fine. Thanks."

"If you're unhappy with his behavior of taking the medicine without permission, I have an idea that can ensure that he will never do such a thing again in the future."

The crisp sound of the teaspoon and ceramic cup colliding echoed in the small office. Miyano Shiho knew what this guy was thinking without having to think about it.

"If it's a dangerous idea to put a micro bomb in the medicine box, forget it. I don't want to face Gin's Beretta the next day when I wake up."

Gryffindor shrugged.

"So do you mind if I come along on this mission?"

"It would be better if you could take care of it all."

"That's impossible." Glenfiddich spread his hands. "This is different from when we were in New York. Gin is the person in charge in Tokyo. I was just dispatched here to assist in the operation, but I don't have the same power as I did in New York."

"And in Gin's eyes, you probably have to go on this mission."

Miyano Shiho was a little confused: "Why do you say that?"

What we got was Glenfiddich's irrelevant answer.

"Do you know why I, as the head of the New York region, was assigned to Japan?"

She shook her head.

"Not long ago, Gin reported a crucial piece of intelligence. The FBI's ace agent, Shuichi Akai, will leave New York and go to Japan in the near future."

"After multiple attempts, this intelligence is basically true. This means that the frontline of the battle between the FBI and the organization will be transferred from the United States to Japan. As the person in charge of New York, I will of course move with it to reinforce Gin. All matters in New York will be handed over to Ireland to contain the power of the FBI headquarters."

"But in fact, I came to Tokyo not just to assist in the operation. The bigger reason is that the organization believes that having me monitor you is the softest option. If it were any other cadre, you might have taken extreme actions."

Miyano Shiho was still puzzled. How come the organization didn't monitor her enough these days? Gin was almost living next door to her.

Glenfiddich knew that she had not grasped the most important clue, so she blinked and continued, "Maybe you are not familiar with the name Akai Shuichi, but do you remember the mortal enemy of Gin that I mentioned to you?"

"You mean the 'lover of gin'? Rye?"

"Yes, rye whiskey. The undercover agent who has been hiding in the organization for many years, your sister's boyfriend...he is Akai Shuichi."

Miyano Shiho finally understood what he meant. Her mind suddenly went blank and her lake blue eyes trembled slightly.

"Gin is obsessed with catching Akai Shuichi. He is willing to do anything. In order to lure out Akai Shuichi to the greatest extent, he laid a lot of baits, and your sister is one of them."

"So... you need to monitor me?"

Glenfiddich nodded.

Miyano Shiho collapsed weakly, and he considerately made way for her so that she could fall back on the chair.

"Why are you telling me all this?" The reasons behind Glenfiddich's dispatch and Akai Shuichi's itinerary were things she had no way of knowing. But now, because of this man, the organization's huge network of operations had revealed only the tip of the iceberg to her.

She and her sister are just insignificant nodes in the process, and are discarded pawns that can be sacrificed at any time.

It's just that compared to her sister, her utility value is higher, so the organization chose Glenfiddich in the arrangement to reduce the possibility of her self-destruction.

But that's all.

As the person who introduced the undercover agent and also had an emotional connection with him, my sister was the most suitable victim no matter how you looked at it.

She could predict her sister's fate just by hearing these key words.

But what can she do?

She couldn't even resist Gin, so how could she save her sister from such an important operation?

Realizing her own powerlessness, she turned her gaze to the man in front of her.

"Why?" Grenfiddich uttered a sigh and couldn't help laughing. "Maybe it's to remind you not to do anything stupid. After all, it's not easy to find a substitute that can easily make gin sick."

She shouldn't have had any extra hope. There was no humanity at all in this dark organization.

He just treated her as a prop from beginning to end.

The last glimmer of light in Miyano Shiho's eyes disappeared, and her dull lake blue pupils were filled with despair.

"Okay, let's go and complete the mission. Only when you are distracted by the mission will Gin be at ease with you and won't point his gun at you."

The man in black yawned, held Miyano Shiho's arm and pulled her up, and tidied her messy clothes meticulously, like he was fiddling with a puppet.

Looking at Miss Shirley, who was distraught and not resisting at all, Gryffindor smiled with satisfaction and ruffled her brown curly hair.

He put his hand across her shoulders in a somewhat ambiguous manner, lifted up her scattered hair, and then left the office.

Miyano Shiho followed obediently behind.

Glenfiddich opened the back door and Miyano Shiho got in very consciously.

While the man was going around to the driver's seat on the other side, she took advantage of the blind spot for a moment and moved forward, raising the rearview mirror slightly, so that it would be difficult for Glenfiddich, who was sitting in the driver's seat, to see the situation in the back seat through the rearview mirror.

The vehicle started quickly, but Glenfiddich still didn't like to wear a seat belt as usual. Considering the action in a while, Miyano Shiho hesitated for a moment and decided not to wear one herself.

She sat down with an expression close to heroic sacrifice, her hands tightly grasping the hem of her white coat.

Glenfiddich looked back at her from the driver's seat, examining her from top to bottom, which made her feel a little uncomfortable.

After a long while, he finally spoke: "Are you sure you want to wear these high heels and ride in my car?"

"If you need to jump out of the car later, you might sprain your ankle."

Miyano Shiho clenched her fists with a dark face.

Seeing that she was not prepared to change her shoes, Glenfiddich had to purse his lips and nodded, then started the engine.

buzz-

The rear wheels kept accelerating, leaving clear black marks on the ground. The rear end of the car began to briefly float in the air, then swayed from side to side.

He released the handbrake gracefully, and the car shot out like an arrow. Just after starting, it reached a terrifying speed of 120 mph!

Shirley's face turned pale. Although she also rides a Harley and is considered a half-racer, Glenfiddich is different.

He's not racing, he's playing with his life!

Who would drive at an average speed of 180 in the city?

And there are often bombs in his car!

Holding the handle of the car tightly, Miyano Shiho felt her heart beating violently, and she bent down tremblingly and began to search under the back seat.

Fighting the dizziness brought on by the high speed, she quickly saw several secret compartments. She glanced sideways at Glenfiddich who was concentrating on driving, then reached out and opened the secret compartment.

A USP, two magazines, and a Remington lying on the other side... Found it!

She quickly grabbed the colorfully wrapped lollipops and closed the secret compartment.

After returning to her normal sitting position, she couldn't help but feel dizzy for a while.

After calming down for a while, she heard the beeping of police sirens behind her and fell into silence.

Glenfiddich didn't seem to take this little scene to heart. He casually glanced at the traffic police chasing behind him through the rearview mirror and said to Miyano Shiho, "We are almost there, get ready to get off."

He pulled and released the handbrake, turned the steering wheel sharply, and drifted into the alley in a handsome manner.

Miyano Shiho expressed doubts about the so-called "handsomeness". She only felt nauseous and a sour feeling in her stomach.

Glenfiddich jumped out of the car window and opened the back door. Miyano Shiho glanced at him secretly. When he came out, he almost lost his balance and half fell on him.

Gryffindor grasped her malicious wrist and smiled.

Miyano Shiho quickly regained her footing as if nothing had happened.

The two men climbed over the wall and left the scene from the other side.

After they had some distance between them, Glenfiddich took out his cell phone from his windbreaker pocket, entered a string of numbers, and pressed the dial button.

Miyano Shiho's eyes widened and her scalp went numb for a moment.

Fortunately, the explosion did not happen to her. A fierce fire broke out where she had just got off the car, followed by black smoke.

She breathed a sigh of relief as if she had survived a disaster.

Then he stared at the phone in Glenfiddich's hand with an ambiguous look.

She just pretended to be unsteady in order to try to get the "detonator" from him.

She did not give up struggling. She knew where Glenfiddich liked to store his bombs and was ready to give it a try.

As long as he could master the means of detonating the bomb by Gryffindor, he might be able to kill Gin and the others by himself. At the very least, he could cause chaos within the organization and create an opportunity to escape with his sister.

Although she didn't know where her sister was, and she didn't know what to do even if she escaped, she was already in a desperate situation and believed that the outcome would not be too bad.

She had no room to plan her steps carefully and could only leave everything to fate and take one step at a time.

Unfortunately, the first step of the plan was caught by this hateful guy!
