Pirate: Nami! Give me back my Berry!
Chapter 8: Oikot Kingdom
"Is this the Kingdom of Oikot?" Ling Yan looked at the ruins in front of him with curiosity in his eyes.
Nami looked at such a desolate country and felt a little overwhelmed for a moment. This was her first time going out to sea!
She was still thinking about earning some berries, but in such a desolate place, there might not even be a single berry!
When Ling Yan saw Nami’s dejected look, he knew what she was thinking.
"Well, Nami, maybe there is a treasure left here? Let's go treasure hunting here!"
"Treasure hunt? Yes, there must be treasure here! Let's go! Ling Yan, let's find the treasure here!"
After hearing Ling Yan's reminder, Nami felt that it must be true. There must be treasures left somewhere in this abandoned country!
Then Nami pulled Ling Yan and started the treasure hunt immediately!
"Slow down, Nami, there might be people living here. We have to be careful!" Seeing Nami's excited look, Ling Yan immediately reminded her.
After hearing this, Nami immediately stopped and hid behind Ling Yan.
"Ling Yan, you go ahead. You promised Bellmair that you would protect me!"
"Hehehe, no problem, follow me, there will be meat to eat!"
Then the two children shuttled through a group of dilapidated ruins, looking for the so-called treasure, and they were busy and happy.
After searching for more than an hour, Nami finally got tired. After all, she was not even ten years old yet and her physical strength was not good enough.
"Ling Yan, what should we do? It seems like there is nothing here." Nami suddenly felt a little discouraged.
She thought she could find a lot of treasure on this trip and bring it back to Bellmère.
"How about, Nami, let's go deeper inside and find the original palace of the Kingdom of Oikot first. Maybe there will be treasures there." Ling Yan pinched his chin and said after thinking for a while.
"Well~ then wait a moment, I'll draw the blueprint of this place first, and then we'll go find the palace!"
Nami felt that what Ling Yan said made sense, so she immediately took out the drawing tools from her backpack, found a relatively flat place, and started drawing the topographic map of the place.
Ling Yan stood quietly beside Nami and waited. Looking at her cute face as she drew seriously, Ling Yan loved her very much.
There was no other sound around except the occasional sound of wind and the rustling sound of Nami's pen tip scratching on paper.
During this period, Nami ran to a high place from time to time to look around, and used measuring tools to measure the terrain here. Ling Yan felt that Nami was really serious and responsible at this time.
Half an hour later, little Nami puffed up her lips and exhaled a breath of fragrance. She had finally drawn a topographic map of the place and recorded some climate information based on her judgment.
"The drawing is done, hehe!" Nami was very happy. This was the second picture she drew besides Hobby Island.
"Thank you for your hard work, Nami. Come, drink some water. I'll help you clean up." Ling Yan took out a kettle and handed it to Nami.
"No, I'll clean up the drawings myself. What if you break them? You're so strong." Nami refused Ling Yan's help.
Then he put the finished drawings and drawing tools back into his backpack one by one.
"You can drink water now." Ling Yan said softly.
"Hehehe, thank you, Ling Yan." Little Nami put on her backpack, then took the water bottle from Ling Yan's hand, opened her cherry lips and took a few sips.
"Ha~ I'm done drinking. Let's continue our journey to look for the treasure of the palace!" Nami covered the kettle and returned it to Ling Yan.
"Well, let's go and continue the treasure hunt!"
Ling Yan held Nami's little hand and continued walking deeper into the island.
"There's really no one here. It feels a bit eerie. Ling Yan, you have to protect me." Nami held Ling Yan's hand tightly and paid attention to her surroundings nervously.
"Don't worry, Nami, I can now lift a thousand-pound stone!" Ling Yan said with some pride.
However, he did not let his guard down. The road was indeed too quiet. Apart from some low bushes and dilapidated buildings, there was not even a bird.
Nami thought of Ling Yan's tremendous strength and was instantly less nervous. Her charming little eyes rolled around, checking out everything around her.
They didn’t know how long they walked, but the two children finally saw a large complex of buildings, which looked like a huge city.
All the houses were destroyed, but the buildings in the middle still showed their magnificent appearance before they were destroyed.
"Wow~ What a big city, Ling Yan, this should be the original capital of the Kingdom of Oikot, right?" Little Nami exclaimed cutely as she looked at the huge complex of buildings in front of her.
"Hmm...it should be. Look at those broken buildings in the middle. Aren't they almost the same as the royal palace?" Ling Yan said softly, pointing at the ruined palace in the middle that had not been completely destroyed.
"Then let's get started. I must find the treasure here!" Little Nami said viciously with a frown on her cheeks.
"Yeah! The treasure here must be ours, let's go!"
Ling Yan brought Nami and started searching from the edge of the area. He didn't believe it. Could it be that this place was searched so thoroughly?
The small figures of the two children appeared, disappeared, and reappeared on the ruined building from time to time.
"Ling Yan! Come here! Look what I found!" Nami waved excitedly at Ling Yan in front of a dilapidated house.
"I'll take it over!"
Ling Yan immediately ran towards Nami. He also wanted to see what Nami had found that made her so excited.
Soon Ling Yan arrived at Nami's place. This was a relatively large house. Even though it was dilapidated, it still had two floors in height.
"How is it? Nami, what did you find?" Ling Yan asked as soon as he arrived at the door.
"Come with me quickly, I tell you, I found a mechanism inside, but I don't dare to open it by myself!" Nami excitedly grabbed Ling Yan's hand and ran inside.
Actually found a mechanism? Ling Yan was a little surprised, and then he began to get excited. Could it be a secret room? The kind filled with treasures?
Nami brought Ling Yan to a room that looked like a study and walked to a bookshelf.
"It's right here. There is a mechanism here and I can't push it. Ling Yan, you try it." Nami said, pointing to a very hidden stone statue behind the bookshelf.
The stone statue was not big, only about 40 centimeters high. Nami had pushed it open a little bit, and a small door shape appeared on the originally flat wall.
"It really is a mechanism. Nami, please move away from me and let me push it open and see."
"Yeah, yeah, be careful. I heard there might be hidden weapons or something where the treasure is hidden."
"Don't worry, I will pay attention!" Ling Yan said, patting his chest.
Then he looked around, removed a piece of wood from the bookshelf, used the wood to support the stone statue and began to push it slowly.
The moment he pushed it, Ling Yan felt that something was wrong with the stone statue. How could this small stone statue be so heavy?
Until he pushed the stone statue away, a small door on the wall opened!
