Naruto: Blood Mist Escape

Chapter 54 Leaving the Desert

Yellow sand filled the sky, and although the walls of Liefeng City were tall and solid, they still couldn't stop the sandstorm. The sandstorm raged for more than half an hour before gradually dissipating.

Wuxin, the four members of Kaguya Takema's ninja team, and the caravan manager sat quietly in a room. The room seemed a little crowded as the team was assembled.

Wuxin and others have been guarding the merchant caravan and have been staying in Liefeng City of the Wind Country for half a month. After being cautious for half a month, it is finally time to leave.

All of the merchant's goods were sold out, and some specialty products from the Land of the Wind were also purchased. All of the merchant's actions were normal, and although the Sand Village ninjas checked them, nothing unexpected happened.

Now the team is ready to leave Gale City in the Kingdom of Wind and set off for the Kingdom of Rivers to join up with the commander, Jonin Murayama Yuto.

The people who were used to the watery environment of the Land of Water were not used to the dryness of the desert. As the sandstorm outside the window stopped, Kaguya Takema said in a deep voice to the assembled team:

"The sandstorm has stopped. Let's go to the Land of Rivers."

"Yes!"

Everyone present agreed, and the merchant manager went out to gather the caravan attendants.

After a short while, the team was ready and returned along the same route.

Wuxin and others escorted the merchants and set out from the hotel. After more than an hour, they arrived at the city gate and slowly left the city.

After leaving Fierce Wind City, the entire team felt a lot more relaxed.

The increasing oppression and strictness of Liefeng City was not only felt by Wuxin and other ninjas, but also by the main persons in charge of the business trip.

"You haven't left the Wind Country yet, don't let your guard down!"

Wuxin noticed that the three Genin beside him were a little lax, and raised a warning.

The first three days after arriving in Gale City were a bit strict, and then there was a curfew, as well as frequent inspections and warnings from the Sand Village ninjas. All this showed that the Sand Village troops in Gale City were on high alert, and there was a sign of a major war.

"Yes!"

The three Genin responded respectfully. They did not dare to neglect Wuxin, the deputy captain who was temporarily transferred in. They quickly adjusted their state, relaxed their guard, and resumed their vigilance.

The team moved forward slowly. Wuxin stopped, closed his eyes, formed seals with his hands, and used perception magic to investigate as usual.

Ten meters, thirty meters, fifty meters, one hundred meters, three hundred meters, five hundred meters.

Wuxin was in his early teens. Every once in a while, he could feel the growth of his chakra. When he graduated, Wuxin's perception range was only about two hundred meters, but now it has reached five hundred meters.

After a search, Wu Xin found nothing unusual within his perception range and relaxed a little.

Wuxin stopped and performed the perception technique. The merchant did not wait for Wuxin and continued to sneak slowly. Wuxin changed the seals of his hands and his chakra fluctuated again.

The perception range changes from the surrounding area to one-way exploration, increasing the one-way perception distance.

Wuxin's perception range turned to the direction of Liefeng City behind him. Wuxin's team had been walking for two hours since they came out of Liefeng City. As long as there were no ninjas following from the direction of Liefeng City, then this journey would be basically safe.

One hundred meters, three hundred meters, five hundred meters, one thousand meters, one thousand two hundred meters.

The one-way exploration has reached its limit. Within 1.2 kilometers behind us, the same people and small caravans were sensed as before, with no other changes.

After some careful perception, Wuxin found that the guarded caravan was already some distance away from Wuxin, and only Kaguya Takema was guarding Wuxin.

"How about it?"

Seeing Wuxin open his eyes, Kaguya Takema asked softly.

"Just like before, nothing unusual. However, when I left Fierce Wind City before, I always felt something was wrong...

I hope I’m overthinking it.”

Wuxin frowned slightly, feeling a little uneasy. He glanced at Kaguya Takema who was guarding him, with a complicated look in his eyes.

Kaguya Takema's face was calm and handsome, giving people a very reliable feeling. After hearing Wuxin's words, Kaguya's eyes gradually narrowed slightly:

"No, I have that feeling too, an inexplicable sense of crisis...

Ninjas should be careful, let's go!"

"Um..."

The two of them chased after the merchants not far ahead, moving forward calmly all the way.

The daylight hours in the desert are very long, and as March approaches, there is still no sign of darkness at eight o'clock.

The team set out around noon and after walking for more than eight hours, they were finally about to leave the territory of the Wind Kingdom.

The caravan manager trotted to the middle of the caravan, his face showing fatigue, and asked Kaguya Takema:

"Master Zhujian, are we still setting up camp in the stone forest we passed by when we came here?"

"Yes! We will set up camp in the Stone Forest. We should be able to arrive before dark."

Kaguya Takema's words were cold and serious.

"Yes!"

The caravan manager agreed and gave instructions to the other caravan members.

Wuxin, who was standing aside, estimated the time, stopped, made the seal of not yet knowing with his hands, closed his eyes, and activated the perception technique.

The chakra in Wuxin's body fluctuated slightly, and the invisible chakra seemed to turn into a thin membrane, spreading around.

"Eh? Four, five, they look familiar..."

Wuxin let out a light exclamation and opened his eyes.

Wuxin would sense and explore the surroundings and the back every once in a while. During the perception just now, his chakra spread in all directions and he sensed something unreasonable.

Wuxin closed his eyes, and his chakra turned into one-way extended perception, moving quickly backwards.

“It’s that caravan indeed. They fell behind for four hours, but they caught up with us.

Their team had a total of twenty-eight people, but now it has become twenty people.

There were four people lying prone in front of us, and one on the right...

The number of people doesn’t match, what about the other three?”

Wuxin explored while quietly describing his perceptions.

After Wuxin and other merchant groups left Liefeng City, they were followed by several other merchant groups.

After walking for three hours out of the city, they separated in their respective directions, and only one team was heading in Wuxin's direction.

At first, Wuxin sensed once an hour. After many times, he didn't sense any danger, so he slightly lengthened the perception interval.

Wuxin remembered clearly that the merchant team on the same road had 28 people, leading several pack horses and pulling a carriage. At first, he sensed them a kilometer behind Wuxin's team, but later they disappeared from Wuxin's sensing range and he failed to sense them several times.

Now they appeared behind him again, because this team had appeared within Wuxin's perception range several times before, Wuxin had an impression of this team of business travelers.

Now, there are four people lying prone 400 meters ahead, and about 400 meters to the right, a person is holding a tubular object, which should be a telescope. These five people are all members of the caravan.

After Wuxin finished the perception from behind, he initiated a one-way perception towards the person who was scouting him on the right, expanding the range.

"There are three more people behind him. Four plus four is the organization of the Ninja Team...

The four in front are still lying down, seemingly in an ambush. These people have bad intentions..."

After some unintentional perception, he made a judgment.

Kaguya Takema stood beside Wuxin with a cold and calm expression. She looked aloof, but was actually very caring.

"Eight people?"

Kaguya Takema's calm expression and tone seemed somewhat disdainful.
