East-West Lane East-West Lane is located in front of Zhengyang Gate of Jingjiang Wangcheng, also known as "Zhengyang East Lane" and "Zhengyang West Lane" respectively. It is the only historical street left over from the Ming and Qing Dynasties in Guilin.

This place is like an old man who has witnessed the rise and fall of Guilin City for nearly 1400 years since it was built during the Wude period of the Tang Dynasty. The wheel of time has left deep marks on it.

Today, Dongxi Lane has become a commercial street, a regional commercial center integrating shopping, dining, entertainment, leisure, culture and other functions.

People come here to shop shoulder to shoulder, and with all kinds of special snacks, the ancient charm is filled with the fireworks of the world.

Chen Zhiyao had made a strategy in advance.

The more famous snacks here are Guilin rice noodles, nun vegetarian noodles, snail noodles, glutinous rice, oil tea, pine flower candy, osmanthus cake and water chestnut cake.

Opening the menu, she found that the first few items were available in the store.

After studying the menu for a while, Chen Zhiyao's eyes were immediately attracted by the most eye-catching photo of snail noodles on the wall.

It looks like it's delicious.

After choosing what to eat, she began to introduce it to her family:

"The signature dish here is Guilin rice noodles, but I saw people online saying that the snail noodles and nun vegetarian noodles here are also quite good."

As soon as the voice fell, Grandma Chen beside her smiled and said gently:

"Guilin rice noodles and river snail noodles are available in town. I'd like to try this vegetarian nun noodles."

"I want the same thing as your grandma, I also want this nun's vegetarian noodles." Grandpa Chen is not picky about food and is too lazy to choose, so he just eats the same thing as his wife.

"It's a rare trip to Guilin, so of course I have to try the authentic Guilin rice noodles here. Your dad and I both want Guilin rice noodles."

It was just past lunchtime, so there weren't many people in the store. After a while, the enthusiastic proprietress brought over a few bowls of steaming noodles. Guilin rice noodles and snail noodles. Chen Weiqiang was really hungry, and he ate the Guilin noodles like a hungry tiger, praising them in big mouthfuls:

"Well, this Guilin rice noodle is indeed as good as its reputation. It tastes better than what I ate in town."

The delicate and smooth rice noodles, paired with special sour bamboo shoots, sauerkraut, peanuts and other condiments, have a unique sour and spicy taste that will greatly increase your appetite.

Grandpa Chen was slurping noodles with a satisfied smile on his face:

"My nun noodles look plain, but they taste pretty good."

The essence of nun noodles lies in the soup, which is golden in color and clear in the mouth. Adding straw mushrooms, vegetarian ham, gluten and other vegetarian dishes, it is very delicious and sweet.

Chen Zhiyao was hungry at that time and felt that the snail noodles tasted quite good, better than any she had eaten before.

The food in this shop tastes good, but the portions are average.

These people usually do physical work and have big appetites, so they are only about 70% full after eating a bowl of noodles.

Just after coming out of the store, Chen Zhiyao bought some fragrant rice cakes and osmanthus cakes from a stall nearby.

A few people ate cakes and strolled leisurely on this quaint street.

Osmanthus cake is quite common, and people are more interested in fragrant glutinous rice cake.

Almost everyone's first choice is this square-shaped fragrant glutinous rice cake. Fragrant glutinous rice cake is made of glutinous rice, with peanuts, sesame and other fillings wrapped inside, and some white sugar sprinkled on the surface.

It tastes soft and sticky, and Chen Zhiyao feels it is quite good, but she gets a little sick of it after eating two more pieces.

After eating two pieces, he stopped eating and took a piece of osmanthus cake which tasted very soft.

As soon as he took a big bite, he couldn't help but frown.

"This osmanthus cake tastes okay, not too sweet, but a little too dry."

Yan Shuting, who was standing by, quickly took a bottle of water from her bag and handed it over:

"Who told you to eat so fast? Drink some water first to slow down."

After walking around for a while, Chen Zhiyao set her eyes on a stall selling sour fruits.

"Suan Ye" is made from locally produced seasonal fruits and vegetables such as radishes and cucumbers, pickled with sour vinegar, chili peppers, and sugar.

There are quite a variety of fruits on the stall, including papaya, mango, peach, ginger, garlic and other fresh fruits and vegetables.

In addition, the stalls provide chili vinegar water and pepper salt for diners to dip in. Suanyetan Suanye is also available in Guangzhou, but the price is much higher than here, and the variety of fruits is also less.

She was afraid that her family would not be able to get used to this sour and wild dish, so she bought another serving of fruit salad from a stall nearby.

Compared with the pastries just now, these two servings of fruit received unanimous praise from everyone.

Chen Weiqiang picked up a piece of green mango with a bamboo stick and skillfully dipped it in a lot of pepper and salt powder.

"This sour and sweet taste is quite appetizing. It has a special flavor when dipped in pepper and salt powder."

The flavor of the sour wild food is quite unique. I didn’t expect that everyone liked it so much that it was sold out very quickly.

"This fruit salad is delicious. Not only is it cheap, but the fruits are also quite fresh." Chen Zhiyao said as she stuffed a piece of dragon fruit into her mouth.

I have heard that there are abundant and cheap fruits in Guangxi. This time I came here to see that it is really as good as its reputation.

The fruits here are much cheaper than over there.

After filling their stomachs, the group turned their attention back to this alley full of history and started checking in and taking photos.

Along the way, Chen Zhiyao became the official photographer for her mother and grandmother.

As for Grandpa Chen and Chen Weiqiang, the father and son followed the three people with their hands full of various specialties and snacks, looking helpless.

The two of them didn't look like they were here to travel, but more like they were here to do hard labor.

The alleys here are well preserved, and are quite similar to the ancient alleys that Chen Zhiyao visited in Shunde, Foshan before. Along the way in the quaint alleys, I met many beautiful young ladies wearing ancient clothes.

Walking down the street, she felt as if she were traveling through time.

Compared to this quaint alley, Chen Zhiyao, as a foodie, is actually more concerned about what special snacks are available here.

The few of them walked from the beginning to the end of the street and tried almost all the local snacks such as oil tea, pine flower candy and water chestnut cake.

Everyone had almost finished eating and walking around the area. Chen Zhiyao looked at the time and found that it was already 3 o'clock in the afternoon.

There are many interesting places in Guilin city, and she plans to take everyone around for a good look.

Elephant Trunk Hill is a landmark in Guilin and is not far from here, so she suggested going over there to take a look.

Everyone had no objection, and we agreed before we went out that we would follow her arrangements for this outing.

After strolling around and eating along the way, Chen Zhiyao saw that everyone was a little tired, so she simply called a taxi and went straight there.
