Hogwarts Lion Girl

Chapter 104: Night Chat with Percy

When Salina returned to the Gryffindor common room, there were not many people in the common room. The fire in the fireplace crackled, casting a warm light into every corner of the room. Salina walked gently to an empty table and sat down, taking out a thick book from her bag.

This book, titled "100 Ways to Communicate with Magical Animals", was found in a corner of the library. The pages were yellowed and smelled mildewy. It was obvious that no one had read it for a long time. When Selina opened the book, she saw a sentence on the first page that made her laugh and cry: "If you want to communicate with magical animals, first of all, you have to have a magical animal."

Salina sighed. She didn't even have an owl, let alone magical animals. She continued to flip through the book. The book introduced various ways to communicate with magical animals, from simple eye contact to complex spells. Salina was dazzled.

"I hope I can find something useful." Salina whispered to herself as she flipped through the book. As time passed, Salina became more and more fascinated. She was completely immersed in the world of the book, forgetting time and her worries.

The book mentions an ancient magical language that is said to be able to communicate directly with any creature, whether it is a magical animal or an ordinary animal. The learning method of this language is very complicated, requiring learners to have extremely high magical talent and language learning ability.

"Isn't this too difficult?" Salina looked at the densely packed symbols and spells in the book and couldn't help feeling discouraged.

Just when she was about to give up, her eyes were suddenly attracted by a passage on the page: "For those who cannot master the ancient magic language, there is a simpler way, that is to feel with the heart."

Feel it with your heart? Salina chewed on this sentence over and over again, but after a while, she still didn't get anything out of it.

Salina sighed. This kind of idealistic theory is usually prepared for the protagonist. It seems that she should just study the ancient magic language honestly.

Although Salina also knew that learning this ancient magic language must be very boring, she was determined to stick to it. After all, if she could master the ability to communicate with magical animals, it would be the door to a whole new world for her. So, Salina took a deep breath, turned the page, and started a new round of learning.

Salina closed the musty old book and rubbed her sore eyes. It was completely dark outside the window, and the only thing left in the common room was the crackling fire in the fireplace, struggling to dispel the chill on her body.

"What are you looking at?" A gentle voice sounded in Salina's ears.

Salina turned around and saw Percy standing behind her, his tall and thin figure outlined in the soft firelight.

He was wearing a dark green sweater with a small piece of white shirt collar showing at the collar, making him look particularly gentle.

Percy's red hair looked even brighter in the firelight, with a few mischievous strands falling across his forehead, framing his sharply defined, chiseled face.

There was a gleam of curiosity in his eyes as he looked at Sharina intently.

"Senior, why are you walking so quietly?" Serena complained, smoothing out a crease on the page of the book, then looked up at Percy.

Percy sat down next to her, the soft light casting a shadow on his face, making his eyes look particularly bright.

"I'm the prefect," he raised his chin and showed a smug smile, "of course I have to learn to appear quietly in order to catch those little bad guys who wander around at night."

"Okay, okay, Prefect," Serena teased, "Then why didn't you go on patrol today?"

Percy was amused by her playful tone. He reached out to ruffle her hair, just like he did with Ginny, but pulled his hand back halfway, cleared his throat awkwardly, and asked, "What book are you reading that you're so engrossed in?"

Salina pushed the book in front of him. "100 Ways to Communicate with Magical Creatures."

"Fantastic Beasts?" Percy was visibly stunned. He flipped through the tattered book. "I thought you would be more interested in Quidditch."

"Quidditch is of course very interesting, but," Salina paused, "I am also attracted by these magical creatures."

"Actually, I'm also quite interested in magical beasts," Percy suddenly said, his tone a little unnatural, "I once saw a creature called Bowtruckle in the book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. They..."

Salina looked at Percy in surprise. She didn't expect that the serious Percy would be interested in magical animals. She held her chin and listened carefully to Percy's talk about Bowtruckles, asking questions from time to time.

Percy was obviously enjoying the pleasure of sharing, as he talked incessantly, from Bowtruckle to Niffler, from mermaid to phoenix, as if he had opened his chatterbox and poured out everything he knew about magical animals.

Salina listened with fascination. She found that although Percy was usually serious and old-fashioned, he would show his childish side when talking about topics that interested him.

The fire in the fireplace gradually died down, and the temperature in the common room slowly dropped. Salina couldn't help but shiver.

"It's getting late. You should go back to your dormitory and rest." Percy stood up and looked at the dark night sky outside the window. "If you want, I can take you to the prefect's special bookshelf to find some rare books. Of course, it's too late now. I can take you there early tomorrow if you don't mind."

"Really? That's great!" A bright smile broke out on Salina's face, and there seemed to be stars twinkling in her eyes.

"See you tomorrow then, good night, Serena."

"Good night, Percy."

Percy watched Salina leave. Her back disappeared at the stairs leading to the girls' dormitory. Only then did he look away, a smile unconsciously appeared on the corner of his mouth, and he turned and left.

The next day, Salina got up early and came to the library with anticipation. Percy was already waiting for her at the door. He was wearing a dark blue robe today, which made him look even more handsome.

"Good morning, Serena, you look good today." Percy greeted with a smile.

"Good morning, Percy." Salina waved her hand, "Let's go in now."

Percy took Salina through the towering bookshelves. He seemed to know everything here and quickly found the books Salina needed.

"These are the basics about magical creatures. You can start with these books." Percy handed a few books to Salina. "If you have any questions, you can always ask me."

"Thank you, Percy." Salina said gratefully, "You helped me a lot."

Salina found a seat by the window and sat down, eagerly opening one of the books. The sunlight from the window shone through the glass onto the pages, illuminating the fantastic words and illustrations in the book. Salina was completely immersed in the world of the book, forgetting the time and everything around her...
