Hogwarts Lion Girl
Chapter 110 Substitute Players
The first rays of sunlight in the morning filtered through the stained glass, casting a warm golden light over the Gryffindor common room.
The clear ringing of the school bell echoed in the ancient castle, and Professor McGonagall walked into the classroom with steady steps, following the ringing of the bell.
She was wearing a dark green robe today, and her face looked as serious as ever.
Her sharp eyes swept across the entire classroom, as if she could see into the hearts of every student.
Finally, her gaze fell on Ginny and Serena. They both felt their hearts tighten at the same time, and an inexplicable sense of tension arose.
Professor McGonagall said in a low, authoritative voice, "Miss Weasley, Miss Swinburne, please follow me."
Salina and Ginny exchanged nervous glances, and each could feel the confusion and uneasiness in the other's eyes.
They hurriedly gathered up the quills and parchment on the table, and followed Professor McGonagall out of the classroom silently, full of questions. Their light footsteps echoed in the corridor.
The playground of Hogwarts was bathed in the warm morning sunshine. There was still some dew on the green grass, which sparkled in the sun.
In the distance, the ancient castle looks particularly majestic under the sunlight, and its towering spires seem to pierce the sky.
Oliver Wood, the captain of the Quidditch team, was already waiting at the edge of the field. He paced back and forth anxiously, his tall figure casting an uneasy shadow on the ground.
From time to time he looked up in the direction of the castle, expecting something.
Finally, he saw Professor McGonagall leading Salina and Ginny down the stone steps, across the lawn, and walking towards him, and he hurried forward to meet them.
Professor McGonagall turned to Oliver and said in a serious tone: "Captain Wood, two members of the Gryffindor team are about to graduate, and we need new blood."
She paused, her eyes falling on Ginny and Salina, "Ms. Weasley and Miss Swinburne have shown extraordinary talent in flying lessons. I believe they will be suitable candidates."
Oliver looked at the two slightly nervous girls in front of him and smiled encouragingly, "Welcome to the Gryffindor team! I hope you can get along well with everyone as soon as possible and win honor for the school together!"
Professor McGonagall nodded and added, "Captain Wood will be fully responsible for future training and competitions."
Professor McGonagall nodded slightly to Oliver Wood, indicating that everything had been explained, then turned around and walked away from the court with a brisk pace.
Her black robe swayed rhythmically with her steps, drawing an elegant arc behind her.
The morning sun shone on her silver hair, reflecting a soft glow.
Soon, her tall figure disappeared in the shadow cast by the ancient castle.
"Here are your brooms," said Wood, bending down and picking up two sleek flying brooms from his feet.
He handed one to Ginny. The handle gleamed in the sun and had a nice, polished wood scent.
Then he turned around and handed the other broom to Salina. Salina saw that there were still a few golden broom conditioner hairs left at the tail of this broom.
Salina took the broom and felt it was smooth and cold.
The branch at the tail was carefully polished to be very smooth and was much lighter and more flexible than the practice brooms they used in flying lessons.
"Okay, girls, stop standing there and watch. Come up and try it!" Wood couldn't wait to see how the two girls performed in the air. He pointed to the vast sky and signaled that they could practice freely.
Ginny confidently stepped onto the broom, took a deep breath, and felt the fresh morning air and the scent of the grass. She tapped the ground with her toes, and the slender broom carried her nimbly into the air.
Salina followed her example, her heart beating nervously, she took a deep breath, and stepped onto the broom.
She tapped the ground lightly, but the broom just shook a few times and didn't fly up.
She gritted her teeth and pushed hard again. This time, the broom finally rose slowly into the air and carried her off the ground.
Salina felt a sense of weightlessness, but she quickly stabilized her body. The sound of wind whistling in her ears made her want to cheer excitedly.
"How does it feel?" Wood asked loudly, standing on the ground, looking up at the two people hovering in the air, squinting his eyes to see their movements more clearly.
"It's great! It feels like flying in the clouds!" Ginny responded excitedly. Her voice came from the air with a hint of trembling, but more of excitement and joy.
She steered the broom skillfully, drawing graceful arcs in the air. The golden sunlight sprinkled on her red hair, as if it was coated with a layer of gold.
Although Salina was not as experienced as Ginny, she quickly mastered the essentials. She flew freely in the air like a light swallow.
She felt the wind whistling past her ears and her skirt fluttering in the wind. She lowered her head and looked down at the entire stadium. The green lawn was like a huge carpet, and the ancient castle in the distance was shining with golden light in the sun.
Wood looked at the scene with satisfaction. The two girls were even more talented than he had imagined. Their movements were light and confident, and it was obvious that they had a great passion for flying.
"Next, I'm going to test your reaction speed and control ability." Wood threw a red Quaffle, "Try to catch it!"
As soon as Wood finished speaking, he threw the red Quaffle in his hand high into the air.
Salina saw that the bright red color drew a parabola in the air, shining brightly in the sunlight.
She heard a whistling sound of wind in her ears, which was the sound of the Quaffle flying through the air at high speed.
Ginny and Serena exchanged a firm look, and they bent down at the same time, gripped the broom handles tightly, and tapped the end of the broom with their toes. The two brooms dived towards the Quaffle in the sky like arrows.
Serena felt her heart beating violently in her chest and the wind whistling in her ears. She stared at the red sphere that was getting closer and closer. Ginny's figure was flying below her, their brooms almost touching each other at an astonishing speed.
Serena's eyes were fixed on the fast-flying Quaffle, which drew a red arc in the air like a shooting star.
She held her breath, controlled the broom and constantly adjusted its direction, trying to catch up with the red color.
Close, closer!
Salina stretched out her hand, and just as she was about to touch the Quaffle, she felt a powerful force hitting her palm.
She held the Quaffle tightly, her fingertips turning white from the effort.
It worked!
