Hogwarts Lion Girl
Chapter 177 Malicious Report
There was a tense atmosphere in the air of Hogwarts. Everything had changed since the Goblet of Fire uttered Harry's name.
The Hufflepuff students looked at Gryffindor with hostility. They gathered in groups of three or five and whispered to each other, their words full of doubts about Harry and protection of Cedric.
"Cedric is the real warrior. That Potter must have used some despicable means!" said a Hufflepuff girl indignantly.
"That's right, he's already famous, and now he wants to steal Cedric's limelight!" another boy echoed.
Even Professor Sprout, the usually mild-mannered and friendly head of Hufflepuff, looked at Harry with a bit more scrutiny and suspicion.
The students of Ravenclaw behaved more rationally. They did not express their hostility towards Harry openly, but they also discussed Harry's eligibility to participate in the competition in private.
"I don't believe Harry would do such a thing, but he is definitely not an adult." said a Ravenclaw girl.
"Maybe someone wants to frame him?" another girl guessed.
"No matter what, the Goblet of Fire can't go wrong." A boy concluded, "Harry must participate in the competition."
As a warrior from Beauxbatons, Fleur Delacour was pursued by many boys, who were amazed by her elegant temperament and outstanding magical talent;
As a Quidditch star, Krum was extremely popular. Wherever he went, he was the focus of the crowd. He could hear the enthusiastic screams and cheers from boys and girls.
Cedric Diggory won the love and support of most Hogwarts students with his handsome appearance, excellent character and outstanding Quidditch skills.
In contrast, Harry Potter became the least favored warrior.
He was under pressure and doubts from all sides, and had to face the upcoming dangerous challenges, all of which made him feel exhausted.
……
Before the competition, the brave warriors still need to do some preparation and testing.
Wand testing and media interviews were held in a spacious classroom on the third floor of the castle.
Headmaster Dumbledore smiled kindly and waved his wand, moving the podium aside to make room for Mr. Ollivander.
"Next, Mr. Ollivander will check the warriors' wands to make sure they are in good condition and can handle the upcoming challenges."
Mr. Ollivander trudged into the center of the room, his eyes gleaming intelligently behind his thick glasses.
"Ah, yes," he said in his distinctive high-pitched voice, "a wand is a wizard's closest companion, and it is vital to be in top condition during competition."
Fleur Delacour stepped forward gracefully and handed her wand to Mr. Ollivander.
It was a slender wand made of light wood, with a sparkling blue gem set in the handle.
Mr. Ollivander gently waved his wand, and clusters of silver sparks gushed out from the tip of the wand, drawing graceful arcs in the air.
"Hmm..." Mr. Ollivander narrowed his eyes and examined the wand carefully. "Nine inches long, very flexible, the core is..." He paused, "Ah, Veela hair, what a rare and powerful combination."
"It's my grandma's hair." Furong's soft voice came from the crowd, and she smiled slightly, revealing her white teeth.
Ron stared with his eyes wide open, and it was not until Hermione stepped on his foot hard that he came to his senses and rubbed the back of his foot awkwardly.
Cedric Diggory stepped forward confidently and handed his wand to Mr. Ollivander.
This is a finely crafted wand, made of ash wood, with a light woody scent.
Mr. Ollivander flicked the wand lightly, and it made a crisp sound.
"Twelve and a quarter inches, male unicorn tail hair, very elastic!"
Ollivander exclaimed, "What an excellent wand!"
Krum then stepped forward with his crude looking wand that looked more like a twisted twig.
Mr. Ollivander carefully examined this unusual wand and found that it was made of hawthorn wood and the core was the tendon of a dragon's heart.
"Gregorovitch's work," Mr. Ollivander observed, "is crude, but powerful."
Finally, Harry handed over his wand, and Mr. Ollivander recognized his work immediately.
"Holly wood, phoenix feather, eleven inches." He said as he examined the wand. "You need to take good care of it, Mr. Potter. Maintain it regularly and avoid overuse, otherwise it may break and need to be replaced."
Before leaving, Mr. Ollivander walked up to Dumbledore and suggested seriously, "Principal Dumbledore, I think it is necessary for the school to offer a wand maintenance course so that students can learn how to use and maintain their wands correctly."
Dumbledore pondered for a moment, shook his head gently, and declined: "Thank you for your suggestion, Garrick, but the children's current courses are already very heavy. I'm afraid we can't add new courses."
……
During the media interview session, reporters from various newspapers surrounded the warriors, flash lights flashed constantly, and various questions came one after another.
Rita Skeeter, a reporter for the Daily Prophet, a short, plump woman wearing jeweled glasses, asked Harry in a sharp, shrill voice: "Mr. Potter, do you really think that you, a fourth-year student, are capable of participating in the Triwizard Tournament? Aren't you worried that you will become a disgrace to Hogwarts?"
Harry blushed, he wanted to retort but didn't know what to say.
At this moment, he noticed that next to Rita Skeeter, a feather pen was sliding quickly on the parchment, making a rustling sound.
After the interview, Harry angrily approached Ron and Hermione.
"That Rita Skeeter is just too much!" he complained. "She keeps twisting my words to make me out to be a cocky, irresponsible liar!"
Hermione patted his shoulder and comforted him, "Ignore her, Harry. She is just a troublemaker. Her reports are not credible at all."
Sure enough, the next morning, the front-page headline of the Daily Prophet read: "Harry Potter: Hero or Liar?"
In the article, Rita Skeeter described Harry as a boy who was desperate for fame and would do anything to get into the competition, and hinted that he had taken advantage of loopholes in the rules and might even have used dark magic in order to enter the competition.
"Damn Rita Skeeter!" Harry was so angry that he crumpled up the newspaper and threw it to the ground.
He knew that his situation seemed to be getting worse.
