Hogwarts Lion Girl
Chapter 211 Lighthouse
Warm sunlight poured into the room through the gaps in the curtains. Salina stretched and climbed out of bed.
Today is the first day of summer vacation. She opened the window happily and breathed in the fresh air.
At this moment, a brown owl flapped its wings and landed on the windowsill with a letter tied to its legs.
Salina opened the envelope curiously and found that the sender was her alchemy teacher, Nicolas Flamel.
In the letter, Flamel invited Salina to attend the International Alchemy Congress held in Egypt and hoped that she would attend the conference as his student representative.
After careful consideration, Salina decided to accept her teacher's invitation and embark on a journey to Egypt.
Salina excitedly told Cedric about Professor Flamel's invitation and her own plan. Cedric's eyes lit up and he said he also wanted to go and see it.
Salina smiled and nodded. The two of them looked through the map and travel guide. There was still some time before the opening of the International Alchemy Conference, so they decided to go somewhere else to relax.
Cedric suggested going to the beach. Salina remembered the mermaid singing she heard in the golden egg during the second game of the Triwizard Tournament. The mysterious and melodious melody kept lingering in her heart.
They hit it off and decided to look for the legendary mermaid and find out the true face of this mysterious creature.
……
Sharina and Cedric flipped through a magical geography book and discovered that the legendary sirens and the whirlpool were located in the Strait of Messina between Sicily and the Apennine Peninsula in Italy.
There is a beautiful town called Taormina near the strait. The town is surrounded by mountains and the sea, and has the ruins of an ancient Greek theater with a strong historical atmosphere.
At the southern end of the town is a steep cliff scenery, from which you can overlook Mount Etna in the distance. It is said that this was the hiding place of ancient giants.
To the north of the town stands an ancient lighthouse, which is the starting point of the Siren Protection Zone established by the Italian Ministry of Magic.
It’s a pity that the lighthouse has fallen into disrepair and is now damaged, and the Italian Ministry of Magic does not recommend people to go out to sea rashly.
This ancient lighthouse not only guides ships at night, but also has a powerful magic to resist the seductive singing of sirens.
However, ever since the lighthouse was damaged, the Muggle workers who came to repair it have become mentally ill and crazy.
Investigators from the Italian Ministry of Magic claim they have seen Dark wizards haunting the dilapidated lighthouse.
However, when they reported the matter to their superiors, they received no response.
After hearing the rumors about the lighthouse, Salina and Cedric decided to go and find out for themselves.
This ancient lighthouse stands alone on the reef of the Strait of Messina. It has been eroded by the sea breeze for many years. The white exterior wall has become mottled and the iron gate is rusted, as if it would collapse with a slight push.
Salina and Cedric carefully pushed open the heavy door, and a damp and rotten smell hit their noses.
The space inside the lighthouse is small and dim, with only a little light coming in through a few narrow windows on the wall.
The two of them climbed up the spiral iron stairs in the dim light. With every step, the stairs made a teeth-grinding creaking sound, as if they would break at any time.
They climbed to the top of the lighthouse and entered a square room.
There was a huge floodlight in the center of the room, but the power switch was broken and could not be turned on.
Cedric tried to use a spell to light the floodlight, but nothing happened.
Salina walked to the other side of the room and pushed open a heavy wooden door. Suddenly, the view in front of her opened up and a magnificent view was in sight.
In the afterglow of the setting sun, the majestic Mount Etna is in the distance, with its snow-capped peak contrasting with the blue-purple sky.
Salina was immersed in the scenery when suddenly, she felt Cedric stiffen behind her.
Before she could react, Cedric was suddenly pulled forward by an invisible force and let out a cry of surprise.
Salina subconsciously reached out to grab him, but she only managed to grab a corner of his clothes.
"Cedric!" Salina exclaimed. In the dim light, she saw a vague black shadow flash past Cedric's feet and quickly disappear into the dark corner.
Cedric tripped and fell forward.
Without thinking, Salina rushed forward and tried to hold him back, but because she rushed too hard, they both lost their balance and fell heavily together.
The expected pain did not come, and Salina found herself being tightly protected by Cedric. His arms were tightly wrapped around her shoulders, and her head was protected against his chest to prevent her from any harm.
A faint masculine scent mixed with a hint of soapberry fragrance lingered at Serena's nose. She raised her head and met Cedric's worried gaze.
The two were so close that they could clearly feel each other's breathing.
Outside the window, the sea breeze blew gently, lifting the hair by Salina's ears and brushing across Cedric's cheek. Time seemed to stand still at this moment, and the two of them only had each other in their eyes.
Salina leaned on Cedric's chest and chuckled, with a barely perceptible sweetness in her smile.
She waved her wand lightly and muttered something.
In an instant, a dazzling white light gushed out from the tip of the wand and transformed into a silver-white ferret, circling gracefully in the air.
The light of the guardian dispelled the surrounding darkness, and the creatures hiding in the dark let out roars and fled from the lighthouse in panic.
Cedric took the opportunity to try to use magic to light the floodlight again.
This time, the searchlight finally responded. Amid the crackling sound of electricity, a huge beam of light cut through the night sky, illuminating the originally dim coastline.
The bright light is like a beacon of hope, guiding the direction for ships sailing at night.
Cedric gently helped Salina up, patted the dust off her body, and said in a relaxed tone: "It seems that we can go out to sea tomorrow."
Salina tidied up her hair that was messed up by the sea breeze, with a trace of worry between her brows: "But why did those dark wizards leave dark creatures here? Are they taking any action?"
Cedric looked out the window with deep eyes, pondered for a moment, and said slowly: "Compared to that..."
He suddenly paused, turned his head, looked at Salina softly, and raised a faint smile at the corner of his mouth, "I have something else I want to do now..."
His hand gently stroked Salina's waist, and the warmth of his fingertips seemed to carry an electric current, instantly spreading throughout her body.
Salina's body trembled slightly, and she avoided his gaze uncomfortably, and said softly: "...I feel like you seem to have changed."
Cedric's fingers gently stroked her waist, and his tone was a little teasing: "Maybe your true nature is revealed."
Salina: Oh..."
