Hogwarts Lion Girl
Chapter 26 Library
In the lounge, Colin returned to Salina's table with his slightly immature chess skills, and invited her to play wizard chess with great anticipation: "Salina, do you want to play a game of wizard chess together? You defeated me last time, and this time I'm ready to challenge you again!" The determination in his eyes and the childish smile on his face showed his importance and desire for this game of chess.
Salina smiled slightly, trying to appear gentle as much as possible, but she still refused firmly: "Colin, I really want to accept your challenge, but I have other things to do now. You can invite Ginny, she is also very good at playing wizard chess."
Colin's smiling face showed a little disappointment after hearing this answer, but he quickly showed his tolerance and understanding, "It's okay, Salina." He tidied up his wizard chess box and decided to find other playmates.
Sharina watched Colin leave and then went to the library.
The library of Hogwarts is a calm and quaint world, with oak bookshelves arranged along the old walls and extending under the high dome.
The deep corridors between the bookshelves stretched out like a maze. Each row of bookshelves bore the weight of time and was filled with all kinds of magic books, ranging from basic magic to profound spells, from potions to divination.
The words on the spine of the book shone with gold, appearing both solemn and full of magical temptation.
Some of the books have chains and warning signs next to them. They are usually kept in the restricted area. Only with the teacher's special permission can students have the opportunity to read the secrets contained in them.
Occasionally, the books would let out a low growl or a high-pitched howl, adding to the atmosphere of mystery and danger.
The windows of the library are particularly tall, occupying almost the entire wall. Sunlight shines in through them, illuminating the polished floor and drawing long shadows.
Among the many desks and chairs, students sat in groups of three or four, buried in books and parchment, busy preparing or studying their homework. The air seemed to be filled with the smell of ink and parchment.
Somewhere in the corner there is always a student who can't help but walk towards the library's huge globe, which can show the surrounding geography of Hogwarts' location and even some hidden magical places.
The staff desk was located on one side of the entrance. Under an old green desk lamp, the librarian, Mrs. Pince, was keeping an eye on the order, and from time to time she would use a stern look to stop one or two overly noisy students.
Madam Pince's slightly curly hair looked like interwoven pages of an ancient magic book. Her sharp eyes flashed behind her glasses, capturing every subtle movement among the piles of complicated books.
Her gaze was like a searchlight, lingering from time to time as Salina flipped through the pages of the book.
On the first day of school, she was immersed in a sea of history books. What on earth was this little girl looking for? Madam Pince muttered to herself, her curiosity attracted by this unusual new student.
She paid special attention to the sound of Serena's fingers sliding across the pages. In this sea of books, Madam Pince was the undisputed guardian. She knew the origin of every book and was in charge of the door to every piece of knowledge.
And Salina's fingertips not only touched the pages of the book, but also seemed to be gently stroking the veins of history, looking for some way to connect to the past.
The air between the bookshelves seemed to whisper in a silent conversation, echoing with the low murmurs of magic.
……
At sunset, the glow of the sunset painted the entire sky, stretching the shadow of the Hogwarts castle into a long one.
When Salina walked out of the heavy wooden door of the library, breathed in the fresh air outside, and was about to walk towards her dormitory, a familiar figure came into view.
That was Ginny, and her face was filled with anxiety and hesitation.
Her long hair danced lightly in the evening breeze, filled with the girl's anxiety and expectation.
"Ginny, what's wrong?" Salina asked as she walked towards her.
Ginny's big brown eyes flickered as if she was thinking about how to start.
"I...I want to go find Hagrid, but everyone is busy..." Ginny finally mustered up the courage, her voice low but full of desire.
She didn't want to disturb anyone, but she also hoped someone would accompany her to find Hagrid who lived near the Forbidden Forest.
Salina smiled gently and said, "Come on, I'll go with you."
When I reached the door of the cottage, I heard a few low, whispering dog barks through the heavy door.
Salina reached out and knocked on the door, and the thick wooden door made a dull echo.
Then Hagrid's voice rang out, "Stand back, Fang, stand back."
There was a hint of nervousness in Hagrid's words, as if he was trying his best to control some unstable force.
Through the faint noises coming from behind the door, Salina could imagine Hagrid's burly figure.
Accompanied by the excited barking of dogs, the bolt slowly moved away, the gap in the door gradually widened, and the first thing that came into view was Hagrid's broad bearded face.
The next moment, a gust of black hunting shadow like lightning pounced out, with heavy momentum and amazing speed, jumped out from the crack of the door, and covered Ginny like a shadow.
Ginny felt herself being overwhelmed by an irresistible force, her nose filled with the damp smell of teeth and the fragrance of earth.
Ginny's scream broke the brief silence, with a hint of panic and confusion, while Hagrid's call was like a gentle command, interrupting Fang's revelry.
The hound was pulled up by strong arms, and although the movement seemed a little strenuous, it clearly contained pampering and control.
Ginny struggled to free herself, a horrified look on her face.
She flapped her lapels, trying to get rid of the passionate marks from Fangya.
And Yaya, a big dog with a fierce appearance but a gentle heart, circled around her, and every bark was full of excitement.
"You have Ron's scent on you, and it likes to play with Ron." Hagrid explained, scratching his head embarrassedly.
Salina and Ginny carefully followed Hagrid into the seemingly simple but warm wooden house.
Hagrid closed the door as if he were an old friend. Only then did they notice that the ceiling was not a simple beam, but an elaborately carved wooden strip with pickled hams and air-dried pheasants hanging between them, emitting a meaty aroma.
In the middle of the room, a kettle was boiling in a cast iron brazier, steam was rising, leaving a trace of warmth and moisture in the air.
Through the windows, mottled sunlight shines into the house, giving the entire wooden house a peaceful and friendly aura.
Everything here is so simple and plain, which makes Salina and Ginny gradually relax.
Hagrid poured tea from his huge teapot and took down a large wooden bowl from the shelf beside the fireplace. In it were rock cakes, piled together haphazardly, like small pieces of coke that had accidentally escaped from the fire.
Ginny felt new to all this and reached out to take a piece of rock cake that looked a little flatter.
The rock-hard rock pancake lived up to its name and almost started a revolution between Ginny's teeth.
Serena mourned for Ginny's teeth for a second, without touching the cakes, and simply took a sip of her tea.
Ginny's eyes flashed with embarrassment, but she quickly stated her purpose, "Hagrid, I think you might... uh, you know, my dad used magic to modify a Muggle car some time ago, and the result was -"
Ginny was a little embarrassed to talk about her brother's stupid behavior, "Well, that car, uh...seems to have gotten a little too excited and ran into the Forbidden Forest. Would you mind if you could help us get the car out if you happen to see it?"
Hagrid nodded and agreed, "Oh, okay, I'll keep an eye on it." He lowered his voice and whispered, "After all, this kind of wonderful magical creation will scare the little cuties in the Forbidden Forest."
Looking at the "ferocious" Fang at her feet, Ginny didn't comment on the little cuties Hagrid mentioned. She felt that her own flying car might never be found, so she decided to write a letter back to ask her father for condolences.
