Hogwarts Lion Girl

Chapter 28 Luna

The bell for the end of get out of class rang like a sigh of relief, and students rushed out of the classroom like a tide, eager to breathe a breath of fresh air.

Just at the corner of the corridor on the first floor, Salina stopped and turned to look at the door of the empty classroom.

Right there, a figure suddenly appeared in her sight.

It was a girl who looked like a Ravenclaw student, but her dress was impossible to ignore.

The girl's blonde hair was messy, as if it had not been combed for some time, and the dust had almost blended into her hair.

Under the protruding light-colored eyebrows are a pair of eyes that always seem to be filled with surprise, as if the world is always full of surprises to her.

Her earrings were impressive, peculiarly shaped, as if they had been snapped straight from a turnip, and her neck was surrounded by a necklace of roughly handmade corks, each cork from a bottle of Butterbeer, all of which exuded an unruly and eccentric air.

Sharina stared at the girl, and for a moment she couldn't tell whether this was an elaborate costume show or her everyday outfit.

After walking a few steps, Colin asked uncertainly in a low voice: "What are you doing?"

"Oh, I'm looking for the traces left by the Bubble Snot Monster that escaped just now." The girl answered in a daze, her eyes still fixed on the open space outside the door of the Transfiguration classroom at the end of the corridor on the first floor.

"Excuse me, what are you looking for?"

"Bubble Snot Monster." The girl looked up at Serena, "You are Serena Swinburne."

"Yes, it's me. Who are you?"

"Luna Lovegood." She turned her pale gaze to Colin beside her, "I wonder who you are?"

"I've heard of you," Colin muttered. "You're the Ravenclaw freshman who everyone calls crazy and who believes in imaginary creatures like Bubble-Nosed Monsters and Squiggle-Horned Snorks."

"They do exist," Luna suddenly interrupted.

"How is this possible? Those are just made up..."

"Keep your voice down, Colin." Salina pushed him. "Also, only discuss something when you know it for sure, otherwise you will make mistakes."

"That's a wise choice." Luna said in a tone that was almost like singing: "Extraordinary wisdom is the wealth of mankind."

The school bell rang in the corridor like a death sentence, and Colin's voice was so low that it was almost a whisper.

He patted the protagonist's shoulder gently, with a warning gleam in his eyes.

"Hurry up, the next class is Snape's Potions class." There was no expectation in Colin's voice, as if the news itself was a kind of suffering.

"Professor Snape's class. Yes, I don't want to get into trouble in his class." Although the protagonist did not find Potions class painful, he did not want to be noticed by Professor Snape and targeted because of being late.

"Goodbye, and good luck to you." The protagonist said goodbye to Luna.

"Goodbye." Luna also waved goodbye.

The lights in the corridor cast deep shadows, and the students hurried to their respective classrooms like flowing water. Only Luna remained there, staggeringly looking for those bubble-nosed monsters.

The Potions classroom is located deep in the basement, where the light is much dimmer. Coming here to take classes always gives people an inexplicable sense of oppression.

There is always an indescribable familiar but unpleasant smell in the air, as if it has been caused by years of handling various chemicals, and the lingering smell of chemicals has seeped into even the cracks between bricks and stones.

Glass jars are neatly arranged on the walls, with various animal specimens sealed inside. Their curious postures and eyes are chilling, as if they are telling various tragic stories.

Professor Snape's expression was even uglier than his potion, as if any mistake would cause him extreme dissatisfaction.

Under his stern gaze, the students were making all kinds of complicated and dangerous magical potions. The process was boring and full of danger, requiring great patience and extreme caution. Every drop of potion was carefully measured and mixed, and no mistake was allowed.

For Gryffindor students who crave excitement and bravery, the dullness and delicate requirements of Potions class do not make them feel more suitable for the majesty of the lion. They often complain after class that this course tortures their patience.

The bell rang, ending the Potions class.

The young wizards breathed a sigh of relief, packed up their tools and notebooks, and left the classroom.

However, Salina was stopped by Professor Snape.

"Swinburne, you stay." Snape's voice was cold and indifferent, without any emotion.

The rest of the students hurried away, and in a blink of an eye the classroom became empty, with only Salina and Snape left.

The professor's sharp eyes fell on Salina, whose pale and gloomy face looked even more depressing under the dim light.

"Professor, is there anything wrong?" Salina tried her best to keep her voice calm.

Snape slowly walked out from behind the podium and pointed to a small medicine pot next to the blackboard, which was bubbling with smoke. "You figured it out, didn't you?" His tone was a little surprised and even a little approving.

"Which step are you referring to?" Salina asked tentatively.

"The process of cooking tentacled slugs," Snape answered simply.

Salina frowned and thought carefully about the approach in the book.

"Indeed, the book does not mention such a treatment method. But today's changes seem to make the potion more effective. Professor Snape, can you help me clear this up?"

Professor Snape gently brushed the items on the laboratory table, making a crisp sound of ceramic and glass hitting each other.

"This change actually stems from a configuration error. I found that if the slug with tentacles is added at a specific time, it can make the potion and the scabies shell produce a specific chemical reaction, thereby enhancing the efficacy of the medicine."

"But this is extremely subtle. One second earlier or later can weaken the efficacy of the medicine or cause side effects. Do you remember that little pinch of pink foam? That is the sign that the potion is reacting correctly." Snape's tone softened a little, as if he approved of Salina's spirit of inquiry.

Salina recalled the strange bubble phenomenon in class and quickly looked through her notes. "So that's what happened. I wrote it down! Thank you for your explanation, professor."

"Well, not bad. Swinburne, master this course well. It will win you countless respect in the future wizarding world." Snape looked at Salina sharply, then turned and returned to the dark podium, disappearing in the smoke of potion.

Gossip on campus is always like a flame meeting the wind, fleeting yet often leaving people with endless aftertaste.

The potions practice in class 1 made Snape's strict image a hot topic among Gryffindor students again.

At dinner time, in the huge dining hall, students were sitting around long tables enjoying hot food.

Colin looked a little downcast, as if the surging sorrow in his heart and the growing shadow of the class that had just ended had fallen on his thin shoulders.

The food in front of him didn't seem to attract his attention, as if the crisis of putting the wrong porcupine quills in the potion was still lingering.

If Salina had not come to his aid in time, he would be drinking potion behind the white curtain in the medical room.

Snape's harsh comments were still echoing in his ears. At the same time, the deduction of points was more like a mental blow to Colin, going straight to the depths of his soul.
