Hogwarts Lion Girl
Chapter 44 Dobby’s Warning
The cold of the night penetrated into his bones. Harry wrapped himself tightly in the quilt, breathing rapidly, with sweat beading his forehead.
The horrific images in the dream were still echoing in his mind, and Voldemort's laughter was like a cold blade cutting through the silent night.
Suddenly, an unusual green flashed in the darkness, and Dobby appeared silently in Harry's sight.
That unusual green skin looked particularly strange in the dead of night. He leaned against the bed, his body trembling slightly. The green color looked even more strange in Harry's frightened eyes.
Dobby's big eyes were full of worry, and there were a few tear marks on his face, as if adding a bit of uneasiness to Harry's fear.
"Don't be afraid, Harry." Dobby's voice was thin and soft, with an attempt at soothing tone.
Dobby stretched out his slender fingers and gently touched the back of Harry's hand, and a string of crystal tears rolled down.
In the dim light, the wrappers of the cocoa beans glowed lonely as they lay quietly in the jar.
Harry's heartbeat grew louder in the quiet night, and his palms trembled slightly as he clenched another cocoa bean.
"Dobby! Why are you here again? How did you get in?" Harry's voice was filled with undisguised surprise and doubt.
"Harry Potter has come to Hogwarts after all," Dobby whispered sadly. "Why didn't Harry Potter listen to Dobby? Why did Harry Potter come if he didn't catch the train?"
Harry frowned and stared at the house-elf in front of him, a look of confusion and curiosity mixed on his face.
"Wait a minute, Dobby, how did you know I missed the train..." Harry suddenly asked.
Dobby's lips trembled slightly, like a swaying leaf that might fall at any time in the cold wind.
Harry's throat felt like it was frozen, and his voice almost froze in the cold wind.
"So it was you who was causing trouble?!"
Magical lights danced on the mottled corridor walls, and his eyes flickered with anger and suspicion.
"I said no one was late at that time, it turned out to be you!" Harry repeated this fact slowly and forcefully.
Dobby stood beside Harry's bed, his figure looking particularly desolate in the dim moonlight.
The worn pillowcase on his body was covered with mottled water stains, as if recording his silent tears.
"Yes, it was Dobby who did it." Dobby nodded, his big ears flapping, as if trying to convey the loyalty and regret in his heart, "Dobby blocked the entrance, Dobby prevented Harry Potter from boarding the train. Then Dobby punished himself..." Dobby raised the ten fingers wrapped like sausages and waved them excitedly.
Harry stared at the house-elf in front of him with mixed feelings.
"Why did you do this? Did I offend you?" Harry's tone was full of confusion.
Dobby lowered his eyes, and his intermittent crying voice sounded like an unfinished elegy, "Because Dobby failed to stop Harry Potter from coming to Hogwarts, Dobby should be punished."
Dobby began to pace beside Harry's bed, his voice particularly abrupt in the quiet night, his big green head swaying back and forth like a heavy ball that might fall out of its socket at any moment.
As his head swayed, Dobby's large, pointed ears swayed along with it, like flags hanging from a giant tree, waving violently in the wind.
Harry's eyes were sparkling with excitement and his hands were clenched into fists as if he was trying hard to control his emotions.
"Punishment? You almost caused Ron and I to be expelled by Snape! You were clearly punishing me!" Harry's voice rang out, like a gust of angry wind blowing across the calm lake, causing waves.
Dobby took a few steps back involuntarily, his big eyes filled with fear and sadness. His fingers tightly grasped the worn pillowcase on his body, as if looking for a trace of comfort.
In the dim room, Dobby's figure seemed particularly lonely. His trembling body and shaking voice seemed to be filled with endless sadness and self-blame in every corner of his body.
"Dobby... Dobby just... wants to protect Mr. Harry Potter... but the master wants to harm Harry Potter, Dobby must stop..." His voice was intermittent, and every word was filled with pain and regret.
Harry's heart was filled with doubt and anxiety. He looked into Dobby's big eyes filled with tears and took a deep breath. "What do you mean? Who is your master?" Harry frowned, with a hint of imperceptible anxiety in his eyes.
Dobby shook his head slightly, an extremely embarrassed and struggling look on his face.
"Can't...can't...Dobby can't tell!"
Dobby's whisper echoed in the silent room, and Harry sensed the fear and helplessness in his voice.
Dobby stopped pacing, his thin figure looking increasingly helpless.
His worn pillowcase was already stained with stains and tears, and gave off a smell mixed with mold and detergent.
As Dobby moved, the corner of the pillowcase was twisted into a rope of varying thickness, and then twisted into a dirty handkerchief of snot and tears. The leftover dinner residue was still hanging on the corner of the dirty pillowcase.
He raised one foot, sniffed hard, and then hastily wiped the tears from his face with the corner of his freshly wrung handkerchief, trying to make himself appear less cowardly.
But the constant flow of mucus and tears made his efforts seem futile. One of his eyes was blurred by tears, and he looked pitiful and aroused pity.
"Dobby, don't you have any clothes that would fit? Why are you wearing this?" Harry asked curiously, looking less angry than he had at first.
Dobby's heart was beating violently, and beads of sweat appeared on the tip of his nose. He tugged at the worn pillowcase on his body, looking very conflicted.
Dobby bit his lip, his voice low and lost. "House elves are like this. We don't have our own clothes, and the master can't give us clothes, because that means we are expelled and can no longer serve the master. House elves are slaves, but... Dobby wants freedom..."
Dobby groaned, tears rolling down his ash-covered face.
He raised his tiny fingers and slowly wove a ray of light in the darkness. Those magic spells were obscure and difficult to understand for ordinary people, but they were simple and familiar to him.
Dobby wiped the tears from his cheeks, "Harry Potter is the savior, shining like a beacon of hope..." He repeated these words in a low voice, as if reminding himself that no matter how dark the night sky is, it cannot stop the fact that light will eventually come.
"So Dobby had to protect Harry! Dobby had no choice. Dobby had to get Harry Potter out of Hogwarts, so Dobby controlled the Bludger..."
