Hogwarts Lion Girl

Chapter 78 Professor Lupin

Harry opened his eyes dazedly, and the dim light in the carriage made him feel dizzy. He struggled to sit up, but found that he was weak all over and collapsed on the seat like a puddle of mud.

"Harry, are you awake?" Ron's concerned voice came from my ear, "How do you feel?"

Harry then realized that Ron was sitting next to him, looking at him with a worried look on his face. The carriage was very quiet, with only the "clang" sound of the wheels rubbing against the rails.

"What's wrong with me?" Harry's voice was as weak as a mosquito's hum.

"You fainted, Harry." Hermione's voice came from the other side, with a hint of reproach, "You scared us!"

"Fainted?" Harry tried hard to recall what happened before. The Dementor's empty eyes and suffocating despair flashed through his mind. "Why did I faint?"

"Don't you know, Harry?" Ron's eyes widened, "Those are Dementors! They will suck away all your happy memories and make you feel worse than death! I heard that some people even go crazy because of it!"

Harry shook his head. He didn't remember having any happy memories. To him, those Dementors were more like some kind of terrible nightmare. He wanted to escape, but there was nowhere to escape.

"But why are you all okay?" Harry looked around and found that everyone else in the carriage was safe and sound, only he fainted, "Am I the only one..."

"Those Dementors, why are they attacking us?" Harry muttered to himself, feeling confused, and replaying the scenes that had just happened in his mind. He remembered the sudden chill, the empty eyes of the Dementors, and the helplessness and despair that welled up in his heart...

"Harry, are you okay?" Hermione noticed that something was wrong with Harry and asked with concern, "You don't look well."

"I'm fine," Harry shook his head. He didn't want to worry his friends. "I'm just... a little tired."

The carriage door was slowly opened, and Harry subconsciously turned his head to look, and what came into his sight was Professor Lupin's face, which was a little tired but still gentle.

"Feeling better, Harry?" Professor Lupin's eyes were full of concern. He walked to Harry and patted his shoulder gently.

"Well, much better, Professor." Harry tried hard to force a smile, but his pale face betrayed his weakness at the moment.

"Eat a piece of chocolate, it will help you regain your strength." Professor Lupin took a piece of chocolate from his pocket and handed it to Harry.

Harry took the chocolate and said thank you softly. The sweetness of the chocolate spread in his mouth, and seemed to dispel some of the haze that shrouded his heart.

……

Cold rain beat against the ancient walls of Hogwarts, pouring down the towering battlements. The marble steps were washed shiny by the rain, reflecting the gray sky and the hurried figures of the students.

The warm lights and noisy voices in the auditorium made the students feel a little more relaxed. Looking up, hundreds of candles floating in the air illuminated the entire auditorium brilliantly, and four long dining tables were filled with students.

Harry chewed the chocolate mechanically, the sweet taste in his mouth like chewing wax. Professor Lupin's worried eyes stayed on him for a moment, then turned to other students.

In the noisy hall, only Harry felt like he was isolated in a transparent bubble, out of tune with everything around him.

As usual, Headmaster Dumbledore gave a speech before the start of the opening feast. His wise eyes sparkled, as if he could see through everyone's mind. Harry noticed that this year Dumbledore's speech was particularly brief, and his tone was much heavier than in previous years.

"As you can see," Headmaster Dumbledore cleared his throat, "this year, Hogwarts has taken some special precautions to ensure everyone's safety..."

As soon as he finished speaking, there was a buzz of discussion in the hall. Students were whispering to each other, and Harry's heart couldn't help but rise, and an ominous premonition came to his mind.

"The Ministry of Magic has sent Dementors," Headmaster Dumbledore's voice drowned out the students' chatter, "They will be stationed around the school to prevent any suspicious people from entering Hogwarts."

Hearing the word "Dementor", Harry's body trembled violently, and his face turned pale as paper in an instant. He looked around in horror, as if those terrible creatures were hiding in the shadows and would pounce on him at any time.

"Is this protection or murder?!" Ron took a breath of cold air, "Those guys are not good people! They will suck away people's souls and make them become neither human nor ghost!"

Hermione frowned and whispered, "Ron, stop talking nonsense! Although Dementors are scary, they are guards of the Ministry of Magic and will not hurt us."

"I hope so," Ron said, his voice full of uneasiness, "but I still feel uneasy..."

Headmaster Dumbledore continued, "I know that the presence of Dementors may make everyone feel uneasy, but please believe that they are here to protect us. I hope everyone can remain calm, do not approach them, and do not try to fight them."

Headmaster Dumbledore paused and continued, "This year, we have a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Remus Lupin." He turned to Professor Lupin, who smiled and nodded to everyone. "In addition, Rubeus Hagrid will be the teacher of Care of Magical Creatures."

The dinner ended with a murmur of anxiety. Students filed out, their faces showing obvious anxiety.

Salina noticed that even Ron, who was usually carefree, was unusually silent, with a frown on his face, and followed Harry and Hermione closely.

In the Gryffindor common room, a warm fire burned in the fireplace, illuminating the entire room in an orange-red glow. However, this warmth could not dispel the solemn atmosphere that permeated the air.

George threw himself heavily into the soft armchair and sighed. "Dementors! Merlin's stinky socks! What on earth was Dumbledore thinking? Letting those monsters roam around the school? Will we ever be able to study?"

Percy sat opposite him, frowning, holding a thick book in his hands, the pages making a rustling sound as he flipped through them quickly. "Don't complain, it's already happened, we can only find a way to deal with it."

"Deal with it? How? Are we going to fight those monsters face to face?" Fred waved his arms exaggeratedly and almost knocked over the pumpkin juice on the table next to him.

"Of course not!" Percy rolled his eyes at his stupid brother. "We can learn how to defend against them. I've found some information..."

Percy was interrupted by Fred impatiently before he could finish his words. "Oh, come on! Are you going to start your study mad mode again? We still have a whole year left! Now, I just want to relax, drink a glass of butterbeer, and forget about those damn Dementors!"

"Fred!" Percy's tone became stern, "This is no joke! Dementors are very dangerous, we must be fully prepared!"

"Okay, okay, I get it." Fred raised his hands helplessly, as if surrendering. "You're right, we should take this seriously. So what do you think we should do?"

Seeing that his brother was finally serious, Percy's tone softened. "I've found some information about defending against Dementors. We can study it together. Also, I heard that Professor Lupin is very good at dealing with Dementors. We can go ask him."

"Professor Lupin? You mean the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher who looks sick?" George raised his eyebrows. "Is he really okay?"

"To be chosen by Headmaster Dumbledore, he must have some abilities."
