Hogwarts's Master of Mind
Chapter 362: Teaching, Merope Gaunt
Harry and the other two returned to the common room after a busy day.
"This arrangement is not clever, let alone capable of killing Aiden."
Ron used his authority as a prefect to do whatever he wanted, snatched a first-year student's chair, and leaned forward comfortably.
"you're right."
Seeing this, Hermione went straight over, kicked him off the chair, and returned the chair to him.
“It wasn’t a well-thought-out plan.”
"But why Aiden? Could it be that Voldemort thinks he is more of a threat than Dumbledore?"
As soon as Harry said this, he found himself laughing, and Hermione and Ron also laughed.
Then, a bright white tabby cat floated next to Harry, and Professor McGonagall's voice appeared as it opened its mouth.
"Mr. Potter, Dumbledore asked me to inform you that classes will continue on Monday. Don't be late."
Then the tabby cat disappeared.
Harry was so startled by the voice that he tensed up. He only breathed a sigh of relief when he turned around and found it was the Patronus.
Harry came back to his senses and found that his two friends were looking at him with teasing eyes.
......
On Monday, Harry arrived at the principal's office as scheduled.
"Harry, you're here, sit down." Dumbledore pointed to the ground and a chair floated up from the carpet.
Harry inexplicably felt that Dumbledore's spellcasting action was somewhat familiar, but he was interrupted before he could recall it carefully.
"Professor, isn't Aiden coming?" Harry looked around but didn't see the familiar person from last time.
"He has watched all the memories. The next lesson will be my one-on-one tutoring for you."
Dumbledore reached for the memory jar on the counter, showing Harry his charred right hand.
"Professor, are you really okay?" Harry became even more worried when he saw Dumbledore's hand.
"It's okay. You'll recover with just a little rest. Let's finish your lecture first so I can treat my hand in my spare time."
Dumbledore took out the memory bottle and poured the silk thread inside into the Pensieve.
The black liquid exploded again, enveloping Dumbledore and Harry.
The two passed through layers of fog and landed in Knockturn Alley.
"This is Knockturn Alley." Harry recognized the decoration of Knockturn Alley which had not changed in decades.
Unfortunately, in these short six years, Diagon Alley has not changed much, but Knockturn Alley has really been knocked down.
Without time to sigh, Harry quickly caught up with Dumbledore.
"These are the memories of Caractacus Burke, the founder of Burke's Shop," Dumbledore introduced.
As he spoke, a gray-haired young man came over cursing.
"Damn Prewett, just wait, one day! One day!" the man cursed angrily and walked into his shop.
I used a spell to clean the house, put the alchemical props on it, and put up a sign outside the house.
A black magic alchemy shop was opened in this way, and the wizards around him showed him malicious looks.
Two streams of fire burst out of the house, setting an old witch and a wizard with a green glow on his wand on fire.
The malicious intent that was all around him disappeared immediately.
"Back then, the Burke family was defeated in the competition with the Prewett family, and lost all the goods in Diagon Alley and their own market share in attack items. They were then forced to flee to Knockturn Alley to live a miserable life."
Harry did not notice that there was a subtle hint of sarcasm in Dumbledore's voice as he explained.
"But, Professor, why did they fail?"
Harry thought about his potions business and suddenly became curious about these things.
“In the market, Prewett chose defense, and Bok chose offense.
However, most wizards in the world do not want to harm others, and the market naturally makes a choice between the two.
As a result, you can see that Burke was defeated." Dumbledore tapped his fingers, and the environment around them changed, and they entered Burke's shop.
A pregnant, plain-looking woman appeared in front of the two men.
She was dressed very shabby, there was not a single clean spot on her body, and her face was pale, as if she had not been well nourished during her pregnancy.
The visitor was none other than the woman Harry had last seen, Merope Gaunt.
"She looks so down and out, why doesn't she use magic to improve her life?"
Harry gave his own thoughts on the memory.
"Yes, why." Dumbledore's eyes flashed with amber and dark blue.
When he came to his senses, he got the answer.
"Because she has been suppressed by her father and brothers for many years, she hates magic." Al...Dumbledore gave the answer.
Harry thought of his life at the Dursleys' and couldn't help but feel sympathy for this woman.
"Bock, you should recognize this thing!" A cold female voice came out.
Merope Gaunt, who was desperate, took out a locket from around his neck.
Harry's eyes widened immediately after seeing it.
"Ah, Slytherin's locket. It seems that the legend that your Gaunt family is his heir is true." Burke rubbed his hands.
"I want to sell it. Name your price." Merope couldn't wait to get the money.
"Five Galleons." Bock lowered the price without hesitation.
"Why don't you go and grab it? This is Slytherin's treasure!" Merope's eyes turned red!
Harry couldn't tell whether it was anger or sadness.
"But now all I have in front of me is a poor woman and an antique whose authenticity I don't know." Bock was not in a hurry at all.
"Ten Galleons. If it's any lower, I'll go to Pwett's workshop. I'm sure they know the value of this thing." Merope raised her head and gave a provocative smile.
"Damn them! Don't mention them!" Bock's defense was broken at once.
He pulled out ten Galleons from his pocket and threw them on the ground, "Take the money and get out!"
Merope put the money away, looked at him coldly, and walked out.
Then, she used the money to buy some clothes, had a good meal, and started wandering.
Time kept changing and passing, and on a rainy night, Merope was hiding under the eaves.
Her belly was already very big, and the cold wind seemed to be robbing her of her vitality.
A man appeared behind her and handed her an umbrella.
Merope raised her head and saw the face of the person who came with the help of the dim light around her.
"Darren Prewett!"
"If you don't have anywhere to go, the Pwett Workshop wouldn't mind taking in one more common worker. No Gaunt, just a common worker."
The Darren in front of him was more mature than the one Aiden met before. His sharp pupils gave him a unique charm in his every move.
"Don't pretend to be pitiful. Your ancestors made a friendly alliance with Gaunt, but where were you when Gaunt fell into desolation?"
Merope dropped her umbrella, and the light in her eyes became even colder.
"We have tried to dissuade you, but you don't care because you uphold the pure-blood ideals." Darren didn't pick up the umbrella and let the heavy rain wet his suit.
"That's enough. Stop showing me your condescending pity. I, Merope Gaunt, am always proud of my family!"
Merope ran away and disappeared in the rain. The last scene in her memory was that she gave birth to a baby boy and barely sent him to Wu's Orphanage.
