The most powerful wizard in the magic world

Chapter 25 Whisper of the Evil Spirit

In the specimen room, Gellin and Irene were immersed in the tense atmosphere of searching for clues. But as time went by, Gellin had a vague ominous premonition in his heart. He repeatedly weighed the ball of light in his hand and suddenly felt that this gift was not as simple as he had initially imagined.

"Erin, do you feel that the transparent figure... is a little strange?" He frowned, his eyes wandering among the rows of bottles. "Its tone is too gentle, as if it is hiding something."

Irene was looking carefully at a bottle of glowing potion. When she heard Gerlin's words, she stopped, turned around, and thought seriously: "You mean... maybe it doesn't really want to help us?"

"I'm beginning to doubt its nature." Gerlin's tone became firm. "Let's think of a solution immediately and prepare some potions in case of emergency."

Irene's heart tightened, she clenched the bottle in her hand, and said in a low voice: "You mean... it's a vengeful spirit?"

"Yes." Gerling nodded, a determined light flashing in his eyes. "Its name is Hudson. If it is really a vengeful spirit, we must never trust it again."

Irene's face turned pale. She tightly grasped the ball of light, her heart filled with fear and anxiety: "What should we do? If it is really as you said, then we must find a solution as soon as possible."

"We can use the potions here." Gerling walked towards the shelves of potion bottles and quickly glanced at the labels on the bottles. "Among these potions, there is a potion that can dispel evil spirits. When mixed, it will form a powerful purple mist."

"Purple mist? Can it be eliminated?" Irene asked cautiously.

"At least it can reveal its true form so that we can see clearly what it is." Gerlin grabbed a bottle of potion emitting lavender light, placed it on the table and said while observing it, "Get ready, Irene."

"I understand, I'll help you!" Irene plucked up her courage, stood up straight, and tried to stay calm.

They quickly began to mix the potion, and time passed quickly in the tense atmosphere. Gerlin directed Irene to mix the different ingredients, and the liquid in the bottle gradually turned into a mysterious purple, as if it had condensed the light of countless stars.

"Hurry, hurry up!" Gellin glanced out the window and felt that time was running out. He thought the vengeful spirit might have noticed their actions and might appear before them at any time.

“Almost done!”

A few minutes later, the purple potion was finally prepared. Gerlin nodded to Irene and said confidently, "Let's go confront it now!"

Walking deeper into the corridor, he felt a sense of urgency. The atmosphere in the corridor became increasingly gloomy, and the air was filled with a damp smell. Gerlin clenched the potion in his hand, feeling nervous.

The transparent figure at the end of the corridor gradually emerged again, still so soft, as if trying hard to conceal its true face.

"Have you decided?" Hudson's voice was like a warm breeze, with a hint of temptation. "I'm waiting for you."

"I think we should give you a chance to see your true identity." Gerlin said in a deep voice, looking at the shadow without fear.

"Your true identity?" Hudson chuckled, but there was a hint of coldness in his laughter. "You are already an extension of my power. Why do you still insist on the truth?"

"We won't be deceived by you again!" Irene shouted angrily, raising the potion in her hand, and purple light flashed in her hand.

"Purple Mist? How dare you use this thing to attack me?" Hudson's voice was filled with a hint of surprise, and then turned into a grim smile, "You are so naive!"

Gerling decisively threw the potion forward. The purple liquid drew a graceful arc in the air and instantly turned into a thick purple mist, enveloping Hudson.

"Go ahead and show your true colors!" Gellin shouted.

Purple mist spread in the air, like a layer of fog covering Hudson, the shadow began to distort, and the entire space was occupied by purple light. Hudson's figure also gradually changed, and finally became blurred.

"Do you want to know the truth?" The ghost's voice became even deeper, as if it had penetrated the abyss of time and space. "You will regret it!"

In the light and shadow, they saw a pale and distorted face, full of resentment and pain, with the corners of the grinning mouth outlining a sinister arc.

"You...you are a vengeful spirit!" Irene screamed, fear surging in her heart.

"Yes, I am the guardian of this laboratory. I was once betrayed, and now my soul is trapped here. I can only exist in this way." Hudson's eyes flashed with cold light, as if completely different from the gentle shadow just now.

"Why are you leading us?" Gerlin was furious, pointing at the vengeful spirit, "Do you want to use us?"

"Use you? No, I want you to experience despair." Hudson smiled sinisterly, as if monitoring their reactions. "Do you think you can escape from me? You are just an extension of my power."

“We won’t let you succeed!” Irene held the ball of light tightly and said firmly, “Even if you are a vengeful spirit, we will break your haze!”

"Do you think this little bit of power can defeat me?" Hudson's voice was full of sarcasm, and as he laughed, the air around him began to distort.

Gerlin and Irene hugged each other tightly, and the light ball in their hands shone softly, giving them strength. Gerlin secretly knew that only a firm will could break the current predicament: "We must face it together. No matter how powerful the enemy is, we must never give up!"

"That's right!" Irene responded, with the flame of courage flashing in her eyes, "We must use the light of our hearts to dispel your darkness!"

As the two people's hearts connected, the light balls in their hands burst into dazzling brilliance, and the purple mist gradually dissipated in the light. Gerlin and Irene felt a warmth rising from the bottom of their hearts, which was the power of courage.

"The ball of light connects our will to dispel all this!" Gerlin roared and threw the potion in his hand to Hudson. The purple potion blended with the light of the ball of light to form a dazzling light and shadow, rushing towards the vengeful spirit.

"You...how could you!" Hudson whispered in shock, his face distorted even more horribly.

The light enveloped the vengeful spirit, and the powerful aura transmitted infinite power, shaking the surrounding space. Gradually, Hudson's figure gradually faded under the shining light, and his originally grinning face was now full of fear.

"What on earth did you do?" The voice of the vengeful spirit became weak and desperate as it gradually dissipated. "I will not accept this!"

"We must break the bondage of this evil spirit!" Gerlin said firmly, with a gleam of light in his eyes. "Whether it is the evil spirit or the darkness, we will dispel it!"

The figure slowly walked out of the shadows, revealing an elegant but slightly pale face. His eyes were like the deep starry sky, revealing a cold and wise light. "Welcome to my laboratory, Gerling."

"You...are you the evil spirit Romanth?" Gerlin felt a chill. Although he had heard countless stories about this name since he was a child, he felt an unbearable heaviness when he really faced it.

"Yes, I am Romance." He smiled slightly, as if to show off his authority. "Aren't you afraid? Rumor has it that I am an out-and-out evil spirit."

"I'm scared," Gellin admitted, his voice trembling slightly. "But I'm more curious. Why are you here? Is this a laboratory, or is this where you imprison souls?"

Romans' smile deepened, and a curve appeared at the corner of his mouth. "Smart boy, you are the first person who dares to look at my truth. This is where I conduct experiments. I am studying the mysteries of the soul, the true meaning of life, and even the meaning of death."

"Soul research?" Gerlin thought, looking around secretly, trying to capture some useful information. "What do you want?"

"Eternal life for humans." Romance's voice was like a deep bell, chilling. "But this is not a simple deal. Behind every wish, there is a price."

"Price?" Gerlin calmed down, and the fear in his heart was gradually replaced by curiosity. "What do you want me to pay?"

"What I need is a pure soul." Romance's tone became unusually serious, revealing a disturbing atmosphere. "Can you lead me to find that kind of soul?"

Gerlin's mind turned quickly. He was not a special person, and could even be said to be an ordinary boy, but he had a secret in his heart, that is, he could sense the fluctuations of other people's hearts. A glimmer of enlightenment flashed in his eyes, "Do you want me to find those pure souls?"

"Smart." Romans nodded slightly, "I can give you endless power and infinite knowledge if you are willing to help me."

"Why would I believe you?" Gerlin stared into his eyes, trying not to show his emotions. "The power and knowledge you speak of may be an abyss that swallows everything."

Romans' expression gradually became serious. "Every choice has risks, Gerling. What you want may be in this abyss, but I promise that you will have extraordinary power as long as you don't hesitate."

"I don't want to be your tool." Gerling's voice was firm, despite the constant struggle in his heart. "I want to be able to help others, not take advantage of them."

"You want to help others?" Romans raised a slightly sarcastic smile. "In this world, the cost of helping others must be huge. Are you really ready to bear it?"

Gerling hesitated for a moment, then thought of his parents and friends. Their smiles and expectations prompted him to take a firm step forward. "No matter what the cost, I will go on. I will never retreat."

Romans' expression softened, as if he was pleased with Gerling's determination. "Very good, I admire your courage. We can work together, but I warn you, darkness always accompanies it."

"I will not be swallowed by the darkness." Gerlin gritted his teeth and a strong belief burned in his heart.

"Then, from now on, you will enter a whole new world." Romance's eyes flashed with a sinister gleam, "Are you ready?"

"I'm ready." Gerling gritted his teeth and nodded firmly.

Romans' fingertips passed through the air, and the instruments in the laboratory began to flicker with faint light. Gerling felt an invisible force enveloping him, as if the whole world had changed in that instant. An unprecedented excitement and tension surged in his heart.

"Remember, Gerling, the road ahead is long and full of challenges, and the only people willing to accompany you on this journey are lost souls." Romanth's voice whispered in his ear.

Gerlin took a deep breath, looked up at Romans, and said to himself, "No matter what the road ahead holds, I will move forward courageously!"

New hope ignited in his heart, but also endless dangers were hidden. At this moment, he seemed to realize that the real challenge had just begun.
