The most powerful wizard in the magic world
Chapter 29 The Power of Darkness
Just as they were immersed in the joy of the experiment, a clear alarm suddenly sounded, breaking the silence of the laboratory.
"What's going on?" Emily panicked and quickly turned around to check the condition of the equipment.
"Let me see." Gerling quickly pressed the button next to the alarm, and a red warning message appeared on the display, indicating that a certain data was abnormal. "This is..."
"This is the maximum threshold we set!" Emily was shocked. Seeing that the alarm did not stop, she quickly pressed several buttons to try to find out the cause of the abnormality.
"Which parameter has a problem?" Gerling's heart tightened and he concentrated highly.
"It's the temperature! It's rising too quickly and has exceeded the set safety range!" Emily's face turned pale instantly and she reacted quickly.
"Immediately adjust the temperature control device and lower the temperature of the laboratory!" Gerling's voice was full of tension. "We can't let the experiment get out of control!"
"Understood!" Emily immediately started the temperature control system, her fingers quickly inputted the parameters on the keyboard, and she prayed silently in her heart.
As the temperature gradually dropped, the alarm finally dissipated and the entire laboratory returned to a stable state.
"Phew, what a scare." Emily breathed a sigh of relief, with beads of sweat oozing from her forehead. "It was really dangerous this time. Fortunately, we discovered it in time."
"This is the legendary Romanth." Gerlin's voice was low and hoarse, as if he was deeply attracted by some kind of power. "He is an ancient evil spirit, and it is not easy for you and I to fight against him."
"Are you sure you want to release him?" Emily, standing by, looked solemn, holding the hilt of the sword with a look of hesitation. "Even if it is to fight against the Shadow Legion, such power is likely to cause irreversible consequences."
Gerlin shook his head, his eyes determined. "This is our only chance. Only someone like Rommath can rival the Shadow Legion. We have no way out."
"No matter what, an evil spirit is an evil spirit. He has never had any real kindness towards humans." Emily's voice was full of caution. She knew that Gerlin had always been obsessed with taboos, but at this moment she doubted his decision. "Do you know what the consequences will be if you release him?"
He said slowly: "I understand the danger, but if we do not take action, then only death and despair are waiting for us. The invasion of the Shadow Legion is inevitable, and we must buy time."
Emily took a deep breath, her heart surging like a tide: "But if he escapes, the consequences will be disastrous."
"I'm prepared." Gerlin finally turned around with a smile on his face, looking extremely confident. "While releasing Romans, I will use a sealing formation to keep his power under my control."
"Can you really do this?" Emily was incredulous, with doubt in her eyes. "How can you ensure that he won't retaliate?"
"I have prepared multiple defense and confrontation strategies. I will not put myself in a desperate situation this time." Gerling's expression relaxed a little, and he seemed to be trying to convince Emily, but the tension in his heart became more and more obvious.
"Okay, as long as you are ready, I am willing to follow you." Emily finally made up her mind, although the fear in her heart still lingered. She knew that this was a moment of life and death and the only chance to save them.
Gerlin stretched out his hand and gently touched the crystal ball, activating the power sealed within. Soon after, the blue light of the crystal ball began to gradually grow stronger, reflecting his pale face.
"Let's get started." Gerlin's voice was firm and clear. He carefully drew complex runes on the ground, and at the same time, he used magic and slowly recited ancient spells.
As the spell was chanted, the light in the crystal ball became more dazzling, and the air around it seemed to be shaking violently. Emily felt suffocated, and a strong sense of uneasiness filled her heart.
"Hurry, continue!" She reminded loudly, but a sense of uneasiness emerged in her heart.
Gerlin did not hesitate. His lips moved slightly and the spell sounded as loud as thunder. Invisible energy converged and collided in the air, forming a huge vortex.
The crystal ball gradually cracked, and a piercing cry came from inside, as if countless souls were wailing. Gerlin took a deep breath and continued to increase his magic power, trying to control Romance who was about to be released.
"This is your choice. Never expect me to feel sympathy for you." A low and cold voice came out of the crystal ball, and Romans' figure gradually appeared. It was a blurry and distorted outline, with eyes like burning flames, emitting a creepy light.
"I just want freedom!" Romance's voice was like the devil's whisper, chilling. "You are nothing but my puppets!"
"Now is the time for you to choose!" Gerlin's voice interrupted its roar, his eyes firm and fearless, "I can give you freedom, but you must fight alongside us. Fight against the Shadow Legion and achieve a greater goal!"
"Achieve your goal?" Romance's tone was somewhat mocking. "Do you think I would submit to you for your humble survival? What I pursue is higher power and domination!"
"You--" Emily trembled slightly, her heart filled with fear, but her fingers still tightly grasped the hilt of the sword, ready to deal with any emergency at any time.
“Stop struggling in vain. My power will make you ridiculously insignificant.” Romance’s voice was high and cold, as if it permeated the entire space.
"I will never let you escape!" Gerlin's voice was sonorous and powerful, and the air around him trembled with his spell. Runes flickered on the ground, forming a powerful barrier to resist Rommath's evil power.
"Hmph, you do have some skills." A flash of surprise flashed in Romans' eyes, and then he was swept by anger. His body gradually condensed, and powerful power spread out in all directions, causing the ground to tremble.
"Hold on, Gerlin!" Emily seized the moment, concentrated her mind, and tried to protect the space around them. Her sword flashed, as if resisting the invasion of evil.
"I'm going to show you what true despair feels like!" Romans roared, and the sound waves stirred up a strong wind. The entire basement seemed to shake violently at his roar.
"Don't give up!" Gerlin's spell was still loud and clear, unshakable. "Release your power and fight alongside us. Only in this way can you get everything I promised you!"
"I have the power to tear your hearts apart!" Romance's figure gradually became clear, his face twisted, and a strange smile hung on the corners of his mouth. He waved his palm, and the air around him instantly became heavy, as if it could suffocate people.
"I won't let you succeed easily!" Gerlin's voice became more and more firm. As his spell continued to change, huge amounts of energy intertwined in the space, forming a golden barrier that bound Romanth inside.
