Necromancer: A New Era

Chapter 29: The changing situation, the war is about to begin

After several days of meditation and recuperation, Chakaer finally recovered from her fatigue. Tang Yue used his magical skills to skillfully adjust her appearance, making her look like a different person. At the height of the storm when the entire empire was hunting them down, hiding their identities became their only choice.

"Undead Aaron seems to have become more intelligent," Tang Yue whispered to himself, his eyes fixed on the huge, silent figure in the corner, "He can now execute more complex commands."

At this moment, Chakaer rushed back from outside, looking anxious: "Sir, something big has happened!"

"Don't be anxious, tell me slowly." Tang Yue's tone was as calm as water.

"My lord, listen carefully. The orc king actually escaped from the Demonic Abyss!" Chakaer said breathlessly, "It is said that even the strongest people in the Holy Land have gone there and never returned. He actually managed to walk out alive!"

Tang Yue frowned upon hearing this: "Oh no, the Mage Tower is gone, and my mentor and grandmaster have also met with misfortune. If the Orc King organizes a large army to attack again, things will be tricky."

"What's worse," Chakar continued, "the news of the destruction of the Mage Tower has reached the ears of the Orcs. It is said that they have begun to mobilize troops on a large scale and will attack us soon."

Tang Yue looked out the window. The distant skyline was looming in the night. His eyes were deep and solemn.

"Sir, should we rush to the front line?" Chakar asked tentatively.

Tang Yue came back to his senses and turned to Chakaer and said, "Chakaer, don't go. Take the undead Aaron to the town of Haier and find the blacksmith named Rem in the town, and wait for my news there."

"Sir, what about you?" Chakar asked with concern.

"Me?" Tang Yue smiled slightly, "I'll go see if I can do my bit."

As night fell, the stars twinkled. Chakar and the undead Aaron quietly left in the night and embarked on a journey to Haier Town. Tang Yue put on his hood and blended into the vast night. His figure gradually disappeared in the darkness in the distance.

Under the light of the tavern, Tang Yue's eyes were attracted by a mysterious masked girl. Now, the girl was standing in front of a magnificent mansion, sighing softly, and then resolutely stepped over the high threshold.

"Wait... Hey, please come in!" The guard's words were interrupted because he saw the token in the girl's hand, which was a pass that required no further words.

In this luxurious mansion, the Duke of Thornflower was worried. He knew that the return of the orc king meant that the empire would face a catastrophe. As the leader of the Sithsiri Province, he could not escape the coming war.

The shadow of history once again loomed over his heart. Twenty years ago, his father, the brave Duke of Thornflower, had led the most powerful knights to resist the attack of the orcs, but he died heroically in the end, and the knights were almost annihilated. After twenty years of hard work, he finally rebuilt the glory of his family, but the threat of the orcs approached again.

"This crisis is more serious than ever before," the Duke muttered to himself, "The empire's guardian pillar has fallen. We can only try our best."

He summoned Shadowkill, a mysterious shadow guardian. "Go find the lady," he ordered, "and tell her I need to see her."

After a while, there was a noise outside the door. The masked girl walked in, took off her mask, revealing a beautiful and determined face - Ariel, the warrior who returned from the imperial capital.

"Father, I'm back," she said, "not to hide under your wings, but to temper myself in the wind and rain."

Looking at his daughter's eyes that flashed with determination, the anger in the heart of the Duke of Thorn Flower gradually subsided. He thought of the difficult years when he was young, and perhaps his daughter's choice was not incomprehensible.

"The empire is about to face a disaster," he said heavily, "and the younger generation of the family needs refuge. Ariel, this mission is left to you."

"Is it because the orcs are coming again?" Ariel asked.

"This time the situation is worse than ever before. We have to think about the continuation of the family."

"But I also want to go to the battlefield," Ariel said firmly, "Are men the only ones who can fight for the future of mankind? Isn't it the millions of little wizards and little warriors like me who have sacrificed their flesh and blood to keep mankind alive in this harsh environment?"

The Duke was speechless for a moment. He knew that his daughter's words made sense. The reason why humans were able to gain a foothold on this continent was because everyone was willing to fight for a common goal. Even a farmer was willing to rush to the battlefield wielding farm tools for the sake of his race.

However, as a father, he could not risk letting his daughter go to the battlefield. He ordered Shadow Killer to protect Ariel and led the family members to the southern wilderness for refuge.

The next morning, when the sun shone over Osiris City, a huge army had gathered in front of the city gate. The soldiers were ready to go, with solemn expressions. The Duke of Thorn Flower looked at the army full of fighting spirit, and his heart was filled with pride and worry.

This will be a war of no return. If you win, you may survive, but if you fail, you will leave no trace.

As the bugle sounded, the army began to march out in an orderly manner. Tang Yue stood on the city wall and witnessed this scene. He sighed deeply: "This Duke of Thorn Flower is indeed an extraordinary person."

After that, he joined the civilian organizations that spontaneously went to the front line, determined to fight side by side with this heroic army to resist the invasion of the orcs.

As the four provinces were busy mobilizing their forces, the atmosphere in the distant Orc King's Court was heavy and solemn. In the main tent, the Orc King sat majestically on the towering throne, like an unshakable mountain.

The high priest stood quietly by the side, his eyes deep, as if he could see through all the mysteries of the world.

In the center of the hall, two burly orc warriors knelt with their heads bowed. A powerful aura emanated from them. They were obviously powerful warriors who had reached the 9th level of the Sanctuary.

"Your Majesty," one of the warriors said in a deep voice, "In the twenty years since you left, our tribe has gone through countless hardships. Peak warriors have fallen one after another, and many tribes have even faced extinction. Now, the number of troops we can muster barely reaches a million, but most of them are low-level warriors. The real high-end combat force is only a hundred thousand."

The orc king heard this and waved his hand slightly, signaling the warrior not to say anything more. His brows were furrowed, as if he was thinking about some important decision.

At this time, the high priest at the side slowly spoke: "Your Majesty, according to rumors, the powerful human wizard of the Kasmore Empire has fallen. This may be an opportunity for us."

A gleam of light flashed in the eyes of the Orc King. He slowly raised his head and looked into the distance with a sharp gaze.

"Tiny humans," he sneered contemptuously, "As long as we exert a little strength, they will not be able to bear it. Pass the order, and set out immediately after gathering. We will set up camp in front of the human fortress and send out a test force to attack their fortress first. This time, we will let humans know that the power of the orcs is not something they can underestimate!"

When the king's will was passed down like the wind, the majestic sound of the horn resounded in every corner of the royal court. The loud sound, like a giant dragon roaring in the clouds, penetrated the layers of clouds and even seemed to shatter the dark clouds that had been gathering for a long time. At this moment, the dark clouds retreated and the sky was bright, as if it was God's will that the orc tribe was about to show their unparalleled absolute power.

"It's time, orcs, to prove your bravery and strength to the world!" The orc priest stood on the high wall, his eyes drifting into the distance.
