Mysteries: Arcana Wars

Chapter 131: Chat (Part )

That familiar, chaotic, and confused feeling hit Klein again.

Is it the powerful aggregation that overcomes silence, or the absolute silence that suppresses aggregation?

"At least that's what I think. This should be part of your plan, but I have no idea what plan you had prepared back then..."

"No, not Saint Julie's."

Klein felt a little restless. He stood up from the sofa and walked around in the moonlight.

"In other words, Saint Julie is not the 'hunter'. Although her attack strategy is very much like that of a hunter, in fact, just as you said, Saint Julie is actually just a 'weapon'.

"But here's the problem: Is Saint Julie's 'weapon' really completely in the hands of the Goddess of Night?

“Is there some mysterious being who wants to secretly use Saint Julie to achieve some purpose?

"After all, as long as the mechanism of St. Julie's Church is used with enough strategy, Beyonders with lower Sequences can also create huge effects in Beyonder conflicts, and even... kill Beyonders who are demigods or above!"

"However, if the Beyonder's Sequence is not high, it will be difficult for them to keep their plans secret."

Leonard thought for a moment. Although he had not worked with Saint Julie for a long time, his experience in this area was enough to answer Klein's question.

“It is only Saint Julie who has the extraordinary powers of silence, anti-divination, and anti-prophecy. Once the malice of low-level extraordinary people leaves Saint Julie, it is extremely easy for the spiritual intuition or other ritual magic of high-level extraordinary people to sense it and interfere.

"Many times, plans by low-level Beyonders to hunt high-level Beyonders across multiple levels are often weak, especially when there is a gap of three or four sequences. Even if low-sequence Beyonders use St. Julie's Church as an ultimate weapon, they are also weak in other aspects: no matter how strong St. Julie's [Interference] is, many low-level Beyonders are often killed before reaching the church."

“So this is the key issue.”

Klein scratched his hair and started gesticulating.

"I always feel like I've fallen into an invisible net...

"From the day after I woke up at this point in time, everything happened one after another like a chain reaction. All the events were so closely linked together, just like..."

"Like... Saint Hillran's [Trigor and Domino]...?" Leonard asked, trying hard to recall.

"Yes! That's right! Just like [Trigor and Domino]! As long as you drop the little ball called [Trigor], everything will start to run uncontrollably just like the huge mechanical structure called [Domino] in the church!"

Klein gestured for a long time, but his tone became more and more serious.

"But these things seemed to be too smooth for me, just like over-lubricating the domino machine. I seemed to encounter the right things at the right time, and then some things happened as they should. They happened and were resolved.

"Yes, it's reasonable. If you follow the logic, there is nothing wrong with it, but things have come to this point without anyone noticing..."

"Isn't this your plan?" Leonard asked doubtfully, "Maybe you had planned everything long before, but you just forgot it all now."

"So is everything really still under [my] control?"

Klein grabbed Leonard's shoulders with a scorching gaze that made Leonard shudder.

"Uh... Klein, is it possible that this is because your mental state has not been very good?" Leonard carefully probed, "Your condition has not been very good since the Sixth Epoch. Maybe you wanted to reset your state to the Sequence Two period when you 'resurrected' this time, but it was not completely successful. There is still some hard-to-root madness left in you now?"

"Not in good spirits?"

Klein deflated immediately, closed his eyes, and carefully felt the voice in his head.

“Maybe… This may sound contradictory, but my mind is indeed the quietest right now. There are no whispers from Beyonder characteristics, no murmurs from other pollution. It is so clean that it is unbelievable…”

"But... you're hallucinating, just like when you went half crazy three hundred years ago..." Leonard said worriedly.

“Maybe I really need a psychiatrist. I should find some time to talk to Miss Audrey. Even though she hasn’t been awakened yet, I remember that she is also a psychiatrist now… No, I don’t need to talk about some extraordinary knowledge. I just want to talk to her about my former family and my current hallucinations…

"But Emlyn doesn't recommend that I do this, so I'd better not go. Listen to others' advice and eat your fill."

Klein frowned slightly.

"That's not the important thing. I mean, in this month, I was like a puppet being pulled by a string, always getting the right guidance at the right time.

"But who's holding the strings?"

Klein was fidgeting, so he stood up and walked around the room restlessly, rubbing his hands. It seemed that every time he thought of these questions, Klein would feel an unexpected resistance and anxiety, and his mental state would involuntarily slide in a bad direction. However, he always couldn't help thinking about his current situation, and then his overflowing thoughts would uncontrollably deviate to this dangerous topic, forming a vicious cycle.

"Remember what David said before he died?"

"His memory was exploited, his love was exploited, his obsession was exploited...

"The bloody killer disguised himself as his wife, using illusions and madness to lure him into the abyss step by step...

As he walked, Klein suddenly replaced his face with David's, and used David's terrified and desperate expression to recreate his madman's lies.

"'...What on earth are they trying to do? I don't know! They are worshipping an unknown evil god. Are they seeking the resurrection of the evil god, or the descent of the evil god from heaven into the human world? No, I don't know...'"

Then he regained his voice and face again.

"The so-called sweet words and mutual redemption are nothing but David's wishful thinking. He is just a tool to realize the killer's crazy vision..."

"So, is everything I've experienced really written entirely by [my past self], or [my future self]? Is there really no existence that has tampered with the script left by [me]?

Klein, who was pacing back and forth, suddenly stopped, looked out the window at the bright moonlight, and murmured.

"Who holds the strings of my puppet?"

Melissa turned around by the window and met Klein's gaze.
