Hogwarts: I am the White Lord
Chapter 325 Nightmare Strikes
Riddle Hall in Little Hangleton was once the most magnificent mansion in the area, sitting on a small hill overlooking the entire village.
High stone walls surround this ancient building, and the gardens inside were once well-manicured, with beautiful landscaping and colorful flowers.
However, the passage of time and the fall of the Riddle family caused this once glorious mansion to gradually become desolate.
Today, the walls are broken, vines and weeds have eroded the exterior, the windows have not been cleaned for a long time, and the courtyard is full of unkempt bushes.
The villagers of Little Hangleton all thought this place was eerie and scary, and stayed away from it intentionally or unintentionally. Only naughty children would come here from time to time to cause some damage.
Now, the only guardian here is the former gardener Frank.
He is the only person still connected to the house, and has faithfully guarded the abandoned grounds for years, even though the Riddle family is long gone.
Frank doesn't like to talk much and doesn't interact with the villagers. He lives alone in a small house next to the mansion. His main job is to prevent naughty children from destroying the courtyard.
One night in August, Frank noticed a faint light upstairs in Riddle House, which aroused his vigilance.
Riddle House had been abandoned for years, and he was sure that there shouldn't be anyone there.
At first, Frank thought that some of the village kids had sneaked in to play a prank again.
This made him so angry that without saying a word, he picked up his cane and walked towards the door of Riddle House.
As the old gardener here, he must perform his duties well.
With his familiarity with the manor, Frank quickly reached the second floor of the house.
He stood quietly in the dark corridor, his back against the cold wall, staring nervously at the slightly open door.
The sound coming from the crack of the door was unusually clear in the silent night. Although he couldn't hear every word clearly, he could clearly distinguish that two people were talking in a low voice.
One of them had a deep, hoarse voice, full of a cold authority and suppressed anger.
It gave Frank a sense of danger, as if every word was an unquestionable order.
The other voice sounded timid and humble, full of fear and obedience.
Frank felt that this person was trying hard to please the owner of the cold voice, as if trying to explain or ask for something, as if he was extremely afraid of the other party's dissatisfaction.
The conversation between the two people was very strange, and Frank could not understand what they were saying at all.
However, from words like "plan", "power" and "death", he clearly realized that the two people inside were not simple invaders, but thugs who dared to kill.
They seem to be making some terrible plans to kill a man named Potter.
To make matters worse, the two of them had already killed a woman, a woman named Bertha Jorkins.
Moreover, they also learned some remarkable news from the woman's memory.
Frank was just an ordinary Muggle and had no idea that the two people in the room were the famous Voldemort in the wizarding world and the notorious fugitive Peter Pettigrew.
He also had no idea how important a role the woman these two men killed was.
First, Voldemort used her death to create his final Horcrux, the great snake Nagini.
Secondly, although Bertha is an unknown character in the wizarding world, the information in her mind is so crucial.
To make an inappropriate analogy, the turning point of World War II was Li Yunlong's attack on Ping'an County.
The turning point when the wizarding world turned from peace to chaos was that Voldemort got the news in Bertha's mind that his most loyal servant Barty Crouch Jr. was still alive.
It was precisely because of this news that Voldemort was able to successfully carry out his resurrection plan.
Of course, all this has nothing to do with Frank. After all, he is just an ordinary Muggle.
Frank knew that he had heard a secret that he should not know, so he had to escape from Riddle House quickly, go to the village and call the police using a phone booth, and tell the young policemen what had happened here.
He was too old, and even if he wanted to do something, he was no match for those two young thugs.
Frank swallowed nervously and took a step back unconsciously. Just as he was about to turn around and run away quietly, he heard a faint friction sound under his feet.
He looked down and saw a huge snake swimming slowly beside him, its cold scales scraping against the floor, making a creepy sound.
Frank's body froze, as if he was nailed to the spot. He didn't dare make any sound, for fear that the giant snake would bite him to death.
Fortunately, the giant snake ignored Frank and went straight into the room where the two thugs were.
Before he could even breathe a sigh of relief, he heard someone in the room discover him, then the door opened and a short, bald man called him in.
Although Frank was trembling with fear, he still tried to act tough.
However, when he saw the half-human, half-ghost thing on the chair, he could no longer bear it and let out a shrill cry.
What followed was a flash of green light and a never-ending cold darkness.
The moment Frank died, Harry, who was far away at Swann Manor, suddenly woke up from his sleep.
He lay on the bed, panting, his pajamas soaked with cold sweat.
The lightning scar on his forehead hurt so much that it felt like someone had burned his forehead with a red-hot iron.
Harry fumbled to put on his glasses, walked to the mirror in the room, and carefully observed the scar on his forehead, but he didn't find anything unusual after looking for a long time.
The pain was extremely familiar, and it quickly reminded him of how his scar had hurt when he met Voldemort in his first year.
Harry was a little suspicious that Voldemort had come nearby, but the quiet Swan Manor reminded him that everything was fine here.
He tried hard to recall the scenes in his dream, but he couldn't remember most of it. He could only remember that there was an old man, Peter Pettigrew, a big snake, and Voldemort in the dream.
Who is that old man?
Why did Voldemort kill the old man?
Maybe this is just a nightmare.
After thinking for a long time without any clue, Harry calmed down and returned to bed.
"Forget it, let's go to sleep first. We have to go to the camping site near the Quidditch World Cup stadium tomorrow. The final is approaching, and I heard it's especially lively there."
"As for the scar, I'll talk to Aunt Mia and Professor Swann when I get up tomorrow. They will definitely know what's going on."
