Fall: Rebirth

Chapter 111 The Bamboo House in the Dream

After the dinner, Chu Heng avoided everyone's eyes and ears and quietly came to Yuan Qi.

He lowered his voice and asked Yuan Qi a mysterious but crucial question: "Chief, is there a bamboo house hidden deep in the bamboo forest behind our tribe?"

When Yuan Qi saw Chu Heng suddenly asked about this, a barely perceptible strange look flashed in his eyes.

He was silent for a while, as if thinking about how to answer. Finally, he nodded gently and said in a serious tone: "It is true. However, that bamboo forest is a forbidden area for our tribe. Ordinary tribesmen are strictly prohibited from stepping into it. Moreover, I have specially created a powerful barrier. Even if someone dares to enter the bamboo forest without permission, they will never be able to find the trace of the bamboo house. Where did you get this information?"

Facing Yuan Qi's questioning, Chu Heng did not hide anything, but told Yuan Qi everything he had experienced in his dream. He described in detail the fantastic dream and the warm scene of meeting his parents in the dream.

Finally, Chu Heng said thoughtfully: "Hill once told me that Monroe can not only weave the most beautiful dreams and reunite with the people you miss the most, but also make up for all the regrets in life. Even things that once existed in our subconscious may appear in dreams. So, I thought of coming back to ask the tribe leader whether this place really exists."

Yuan Qi listened to Chu Heng's narration quietly, and his originally solemn expression became even more gloomy. He stared into the distance, as if he was lost in memories.

After a long while, he slowly said, "Yes, just as you guessed, that bamboo house is where your parents lived when they were alive."

When Chu Heng heard the news, he was shocked and a look of surprise flashed across his face: "Turns out it's true!" he muttered to himself.

The next morning, when the sun just rose, Chu Heng couldn't wait to follow Yuan Qi to the back mountain.

Along the way, Chu Heng remained silent, as if he was thinking about something important.

Finally we arrived at the bamboo forest on the back mountain. It was quiet here with only the rustling sound of the bamboo leaves in the breeze.

After Yuan Qi stood still, he waved his sleeves, and a bamboo house miraculously appeared in front of him where there was nothing originally.

This sudden change surprised Chu Heng. He widened his eyes and looked at everything in front of him in disbelief.

Although he had heard about the bamboo house from Yuan Qi before, when he actually saw it with his own eyes, Chu Heng still couldn't help but exclaimed: "This house is exactly the same as the bamboo house in my dream."

The bamboo house stands there quietly, like an isolated island, surrounded by dense bamboo forests, and filled with a mysterious and peaceful atmosphere.

Yuan Qi carefully pushed open the door, and the door hinges made a slight creaking sound, as if opening a passage to another world.

Walking into the house, what comes into view is the simple and plain furnishings, a wooden table, a few bamboo chairs, and a few calligraphy and paintings hanging on the wall, all revealing an antique charm.

However, the most eye-catching thing was the lifelike portrait of a woman facing the gate. Chu Heng only took a glance and immediately recognized the person in the painting - it was his mother!

His eyes were instantly moistened, and tears blurred his vision. The person in the portrait before him was exactly the same as the mother he saw in his dream, and every detail was so clear.

Chu Heng walked slowly towards the portrait, his steps so light as if he was afraid of waking her from a beautiful dream. He stretched out his trembling hand and gently touched the face of his mother in the portrait, feeling the long-lost warmth.

At that moment, time seemed to freeze, and the longing between him and his mother that transcended time and space was briefly comforted at this moment.

Chu Heng stared at his mother's portrait, his eyes filled with endless tenderness and attachment. He seemed to be able to see his mother's elegance and hear her kind voice through the portrait.

"Mother..." Chu Heng murmured in a low voice, his voice seemed to be choked by something, tears rolled uncontrollably in his eyes. He bit his lips tightly, trying not to cry out loud.

Yuan Qi stood aside silently, looking at Chu Heng quietly, and a touch of emotion welled up in his heart.

"Chu Heng, your mother was a remarkable person back then." Yuan Qi finally broke the silence and said slowly, "She loved studying flowers and plants, and knew the medicinal properties of every herb like the back of her hand. She had saved the lives of countless people in her clan."

Speaking of flowers and plants, Chu Heng suddenly seemed to remember something, a gleam of light flashed in his eyes, and he asked anxiously: "Patriarch, is there a garden nearby?"

Hearing Chu Heng's question, Yuan Qi was slightly startled, but soon understood and asked quickly: "Could it be that you saw the garden in your dream?"

Chu Heng nodded vigorously, his face full of seriousness.

Seeing this, Yuan Qi no longer hesitated and took Chu Heng to a place near the house.
