The Journey of the Light-type Superpower

Chapter 2: Hunters' survival is not easy

Or maybe I didn't notice it before? Zhao Lan looked at the bead, stretched out her finger, and raised her hand to shoot a ray of light. She tried to probe her power into the bead. Was it an illusion? It felt like there was a sign of life.

She waited for a while, but nothing happened. Never mind, she would observe slowly later.

Pants can be shortened and made smaller, but there is really no way to change shoes. In the end, Zhao Lan had no choice but to find a piece of clothing, cut it into strips, and tie it around his feet before going out.

She wanted to know where she was. She didn't know what language those people were speaking, and she couldn't understand it at all.

Zhao Lan didn't dare to get too close, and observed from a distance for several days. She found that some younger children like her, who had no family, went to the same place at night.

It's a bit like a special shelter, a place that takes in little kids. The older kids live outside on their own.

The stronger older kids all have their own territory. If they don't come to provoke others, no one will pay attention to them.

During the day, the children would search the garbage dump for useful items, or help with some work within their ability in exchange for food.

After hesitating for a long time, Zhao Lan finally walked into the place where the children went at night. She needed to learn the language here. If she didn't communicate with others, it would be more difficult in the future.

When she walked into the door, there was only a woman sitting inside. She felt the aura of a strong person from this woman.

The woman looked up at Zhao Lan, then turned and walked into a room without a door. She pointed at the big bed inside and mumbled something. Zhao Lan nodded. Although he didn't understand, he roughly understood what she meant.

At night, the boy who slept next to her was a cute blond boy with blue eyes. He had a bright smile on his face, which made people feel better.

"Are you new here? I haven't seen you before." The boy spoke to her, but Zhao Lan didn't understand what he said. She could only smile at him and shook her head to indicate that she didn't understand. She didn't know whether the boy understood her or not. He just nodded and smiled, then lay down on the bed to rest.

The next day, Zhao Lan woke up early and quietly observed the other children's movements. She followed everyone to the hall outside.

It was the same woman from yesterday, who came in with a paper box, and the children came forward one by one to receive their gifts. It turned out that a small piece of bread and water was distributed every morning, and Zhao Lan was the last one to go up and receive his gifts.

Zhao Lan saw that all the children put the bread into their mouths immediately after getting it, and then started staring at the bread in other children's hands.

She followed suit and stuffed the bread into her mouth as soon as she got it. She didn't expect the bread to be so hard that it almost choked her to death. Fortunately, everyone was given a glass of water, so she drank it quickly.

The boy who slept next to her last night seemed to find her very interesting. He looked at her and laughed for a long time. Zhao Lan finally swallowed the bread stuck in her throat.

At this moment, she deeply realized that the living conditions here were probably as harsh as those in the end of the world. There was also a lack of food and water. After eating, everyone left one after another.

Zhao Lan also followed them out. The children pushed carts to help the adults clean up the piles of garbage, while others were playing and fighting not far away.

Except for some of them being a little fierce, they were no different from the children she had seen in the end times. Zhao Lan also helped the children clean up the garbage. Doing these jobs could be exchanged for food. By the afternoon, she got a piece of bread and water.

Zhao Lan saw a few children not far away find a toy in the garbage, but it was snatched away by other children after a while.

The last two waves of children fought each other. In fact, there were not many useful things, and even if there were, they had been picked up by others the moment they fell down.

Although there was no shortage of food in her space and the things in the cupboard would not go bad, she still had to pretend so that no one would notice anything unusual.

In the past, at the end of the world, Zhao Lan planted some crops and fruits in his home. Before the stored supplies were eaten up, the crops would be ripe.

What makes Zhao Lan most miserable is not the scarcity of everything here and the tough customs of the people, but learning the language. The language here sounds like Japanese, but also seems to be different.

Zhao Lan didn't know whether it was true or not. When she was in school, she only read until the end of junior high school. At most, she had watched some beautiful girl anime like Chibi Maruko-chan, Crayon Shin-chan, and some "Genki Girl Yuujin" before the end of the world. She couldn't even understand Japanese.

After a month, Zhao Lan could understand some short sentences by guessing.

The child sleeping next to Zhao Lan was called Xiake. That morning, Xiake smiled and said to Zhao Lan, "Do you want to go out and play with us today? I have a few friends over there and I can introduce them to you."

Zhao Lan opened his mouth and was about to try to reply, but another child saw this and said, "Knight, don't bother with him, he's a mute." Then he pulled the knight out.

The knight smiled at her apologetically. Zhao Lan shook her head. She would not take the words of a four or five-year-old child to heart.

That day, she went out and picked up something that looked like a broken game console. Zhao Lan thought she could probably exchange it for something else.

"Hey, what is this? Lend it to us." The two half-grown children said to her.

"Borrow?..." Zhao Lan looked up. Was she robbed? She looked at the children around her. Everyone was doing what they were supposed to do. They were used to this kind of thing.

The taller one said, "Yes, lend it to me." He stretched out his hand. Zhao Lan dodged the hand he stretched out.

Seeing this, another child also came over to grab it: "I'll give it back to you." Zhao Lan believed him and ran towards the exchange cabin.

The two guys cursed from behind: "How can a little brat run so fast?" Although her current ability level is very low, it is not useless. Although she is small, the speed of light is not a joke.

If she really runs, there are not many people who can catch up with her. Although she is at a low level and dare not run at full speed, it is still no problem to leave these kids behind.

She entered the cabin, which turned out to be a shop. She handed the box to the man in front of her, who just glanced at it. He then handed her a small piece of bread, which she took and ate.

This is also what she observed. No one here would steal things, but once you leave the cabin, it may not be the case.

When she came out, the two children had indeed disappeared. This continued until the evening. Except for a small piece of bread in the morning, the rest of the time, whether to eat or not was up to you.

For several days in a row, she found that the knight would disappear after receiving his bread in the morning.

She found an opportunity and slowly walked to the dilapidated house she found last time. She had observed for a long time that no one usually came here. After observing that there was no one nearby, Zhao Lan crawled in and blocked the outside with something, and then went straight into the house.

Take out the milk, meat and eggs from the cupboard to replenish your nutrition. Occasionally, you should also eat some fruits and vegetables.

She could cook in the kitchen, but she had no cooking skills, so she had to make do with what she had. She didn't have to worry about water, because there was a well in the house and a river outside the house. Zhao Lan went to the backyard of the house to see how her crops were growing.
