Harry Potter: Who cares about belated motherly love?

Chapter 44 Harry Potter: Am I a rich second generation?

My name is Harry Potter and I am four years old.

My aunt and uncle said I seemed a little abnormal.

Indeed, my hair would grow back quickly after it was cut, and once when Dudley was chasing me, I found myself on the roof without realizing it.

I also feel like I’m a little different.

Whenever I was angry, the glass would break and the light bulbs would burst. Once, I was so angry that it suddenly rained heavily at home and everything in the room was a mess.

Every time I did this, I would be severely scolded, beaten, or even not allowed to eat...

I heard that my parents died in an accident.

That's why my aunt had to take me in. They always said that I should be glad that I wasn't kicked out because my parents didn't have any money left and they were complete losers.

But I really envy Dudley and the children from other families, they are all so spoiled.

Why is there no one with me?

Sometimes, I fantasize.

I fantasize that one day someone will come to pick me up and take me away from here.

Although I know such a day will never come, I still daydream about it sometimes when I feel particularly uncomfortable.

My uncle and aunt always told me to be "normal", but what exactly is "normal"? I didn't use this strange power intentionally. If I could be normal, I would want to be normal, but how could I do it?

No one told me what to do.

Although they also let me go to school, it was not just the neighborhood kids who were bullied by Dudley. At school, Dudley found a new group of accomplices to bully me together. After school, I had to be busy doing housework. They said it was a luxury for me to go out and play because I was already lucky enough - they didn't get any child support, so it was their duty to let me do these chores.

The house was quite spacious, with a lot of places to clean and a garden. In fact, they could have hired a maid, but because of the presence of an "abnormal" person like me, this was not possible. The food was not free, and the things that I broke "using abnormal methods" had to be repaired with money.

After hearing this, I feel like I can only accept my fate...

The only pleasure is reading.

I would read picture books that Dudley was tired of, or books I borrowed from school, in that small but private place.

Although the light was dim, I tried to open my eyes wide and read. Only then could I temporarily forget my worries.

Then, I would fantasize about a different world.

Only at times like this can I breathe a sigh of relief.

……

On days like this, some small changes took place in my life.

In the past, they always said that it would be troublesome if others knew about my existence, so they were never willing to ask for help, but now, they have started to ask the neighbors’ convenience stores to help clean the yard and tidy up the room.

The man was called Richard. He was very friendly and quickly gained the trust of my somewhat eccentric uncle and aunt, although they sternly warned me not to talk to him.

For some reason, ever since Richard started coming in and out of the house, I went hungry less often and my uncle rarely beat me.

Whenever I saw him chatting and laughing with my uncle, aunt and Dudley, I wanted to join them and talk to them, but I knew that if I did so, they would be angry, so I had to hold back.

As summer approaches, the grass grows rapidly, so yard cleanup becomes more frequent.

Once when I was doing yard work, Richard snuck up on me while my aunt was away.

"Are you literate?"

"I know a little bit. I'm preparing to go to primary school and I'm already studying in the preparatory class."

"Great... Go back to your room and read this. Remember, don't let anyone see it, not even your uncle, aunt, or Dudley."

He said, and quickly stuffed a letter into my pocket.

I really wanted to open it and take a look immediately, but I had to hold back.

If I take it out now, my aunt will find out!

Sure enough, my aunt came out of the house, luckily she didn't see it.

After I finished cleaning up, I immediately took the letter out of my pocket and put it back in the room.

Because if I carry it with me all the time, I definitely won't be able to help but look at it.

Then I went to help prepare dinner.

Although I couldn't wait to read the letter, my work was not finished before dinner, so I had to be patient!

That night, I took a quick shower, brushed my teeth, went back to my room, and tried to read the letter in the dim light.

There was only a broken flashlight hanging in the room, and I read the letter by the dim light.

"Hello, Harry, nice to meet you!

You may feel confused about suddenly receiving a letter from a stranger, but the content of this letter will affect your future. I hope you can read it carefully and believe me, okay?

I went to the same school as your parents, so to avoid trouble, I will call myself 'E'.

Your uncle and aunt said you are abnormal, right?

In fact, that is very normal.

Because you're a wizard!"

What?! Wizards? Isn't this something out of novels?

“You might be thinking right now, is this real?

It's true, your parents and I studied in the same school, and your uncle and aunt know this.

But I hope you don't blame them, they want you to grow up without knowing, that's why they have been keeping you 'normal'.

Because, your parents were killed by a very evil wizard, so they don't want you to get in touch with the magical world, they told you that your parents died in a car accident, right? They were lying, but it was because they didn't want you to get close to danger.

So please don't blame them for this.

Moreover, they do not understand the actual situation.

Richard learned from them that when you were placed in foster care, they only received a note without any other explanation, and even you were placed outside.

They hadn't been given any direct requests or guidance, nor had they received any support payments, and their aunt and uncle had just gotten married and were busy raising Dudley when they were suddenly forced into a situation where they were handed a child with unknown powers, with no explanation or support.

Maybe, if they succeeded in raising Dudley, they might want to have a few more children.

But considering you could use magic, that was obviously impossible, you broke glass and damaged things, and they had enough to do with trying to protect Dudley.

You probably think wizards are freaks, right? So please don't blame your uncle and aunt, that's my request."

I see, is that so? Even though I was young, I could understand it.

Yes, my uncle is the boss of a company, he is very rich and has a big house, but he only has one child, Dudley. I have really caused them some trouble here.

It turns out that my parents were murdered... Unexpectedly, I was not too surprised by this.

If these abilities of mine were truly magic, that would make sense.

My uncle and aunt knew that magic could kill people, so they were afraid.

"According to my research, you were able to use magic when you were one year old. Your magic power had already awakened before you were fostered in your aunt and uncle's house. In the wizarding world, a wand can repair anything, but that's not the case in the ordinary world, right?

You can understand why your aunt and uncle can't cope with these problems? The cost of repairing what you broke is very high.

However, I still want to congratulate you. You are actually the second generation of the rich. Your father is very rich, and your guardian is also rich. Therefore, there should be a sum of child support prepared for you."

"What? Is that true? But my uncle always said that my dad was a jobless loser."

"Although he doesn't have a job, he has enough wealth to live well even if he doesn't work. Because he is being targeted by a very evil bad wizard, he has already made financial arrangements in case something happens to him."

"And what I am going to say next is very important, that is, my uncle and aunt never received the money at all."

This is a really big problem...

"However, someone is withdrawing the child support that should have been given to you every month."

What? Is this true? Now I finally understand why my uncle and aunt always want me to be 'normal'.

"In addition, your uncle and aunt once tried to consult the relevant government departments about the wizard, but it seems that this was also erased by magic."

Alas, no wonder they hate wizards... But they were pretty nice to me. To be honest, I was a little surprised that they didn't kick me out.

"From these things, you should be able to see that there is a very powerful force controlling everything behind the scenes, right? In fact, a barrier has been set up around your house to prevent other wizards from approaching, so I asked Richard to help deliver this letter."

"By the way, Richard is my friend, but he is not a wizard. However, he managed to get close to my uncle and aunt in order to give you this letter. If you can read this letter, then we have succeeded, right?"

"As for why you are so heavily guarded, it's because your parents were killed by an evil wizard in order to protect you."

What? Why? I was a baby!

"In short, there was a prophecy that was hard to tell whether it was true or not, saying that someone who could defeat the evil wizard would be born. Therefore, although your parents hid, they were eventually discovered and killed. However, strangely, the evil wizard also disappeared at that time."

What on earth is going on? 'Disappeared'? What does that mean?

"Whether he disappeared or died, we don't know, but what is certain is that on the day your parents were killed and you were the only one who survived, the evil wizard also disappeared. Therefore, in the wizarding world, you are regarded as a hero."

Well……

"Actually, I have no idea what happened that day, but because of this, you might be targeted by the evil wizard's associates, or some people might want to get close to you because you're a hero."

That sounds terrible!

"So, your aunt and uncle risked their own lives, and the lives of their beloved son Dudley, to raise you, so I hope you won't forget that."

"Indeed, yes, you may think they are partial, but they are Dudley's biological parents after all, so it is natural for them to dote on him."

"Although you are well protected, neither enemies nor friends can get close to you. I guess the person who did this is probably embezzling your child support. However, that person has great power in the wizarding world, and ordinary wizards like me are powerless to interfere. Moreover, they may use the excuse that the money is used to defend against wizards as an excuse to exonerate themselves. However, you should understand the meaning of deliberately putting your uncle and aunt in trouble, right? It is very likely that they deliberately let you be abused."

I see, simple corruption is not enough to do this... What on earth do they want to do to my uncle and aunt? Push them into a desperate situation, and then what?

Do they want me to hate them? Why? What is their purpose?

"What follows is just my guess."

"I mentioned before that you are considered a hero in the wizarding world and that the evil wizard disappeared the day he murdered your parents, but I think those behind the scenes believe he may have been lying dormant, waiting to be resurrected."

"So, how might those powerful wizards want to use you?"

Use me? Who wants to use me?

"I think they want you to fight against the evil wizard. To do this, they hope that you will have a strong disgust for this human society and at the same time have a good impression of the magical world."

Having said that…it’s really not easy for my uncle and aunt.

"By the way, your very wealthy guardian is in jail because he was wrongly accused and is currently serving jail time, so he can't come pick you up."

Wow, this is too cruel. The magical world is so scary... It seems that I should never dream of anyone coming to pick me up again.

However, after learning these truths, I felt a lot more relieved. I seemed to be able to forgive my uncle and aunt and no longer hate them, or at least not as much.

The first page of the letter ends here, and I took a moment to calm down before reading the second page.

Just knowing that I am a wizard, the feeling of depression in my heart seems to dissipate a little.
