Fantasy Game: Infinite City

Chapter 40 The Lost Hound

After returning home, Lu An slept for a whole day. When she woke up, she had no memory of what happened in the tunnel. Some modified details appeared in her memory. For example, Lu An believed that it was Han Zu who went to her house and took her back.

At least three days of memory have disappeared.

After learning about this, Han Zu no longer asked Lu An about the tunnel.

However, one day later, when Han Zu was cleaning the old houses in the city, he saw several people on the street. They should have been dead. The reason why Han Zu was able to recognize these people was because he saw their dead bodies when he was cleaning rats in the tunnel.

Things evaporated and the dead came back to life, this was very strange.

However, Han Zu soon stopped paying attention to this matter because there was something more important to him that attracted all his attention.

The two hounds disappeared suddenly.

The last time Han Zu saw them was one night. For some reason, he felt very sleepy that day and fell asleep while lying on the ground. Before he fell asleep, his two hounds were lying beside him.

However, late that night, Han Zu seemed to feel the movement of the hounds beside him while he was sleeping. This was very different from usual times, because usually when Han Zu was sleeping, if the hounds heard strange sounds, they would often wake Han Zu up first. But they did not do that that day, so Han Zu did not think there was anything unusual and continued to sleep.

However, the next morning, Han Zu found that the hounds were missing. At first, he thought they had gone out to play, because the hounds had gone out several times before, but they would come back soon. Han Zu could still sense their location at this time, so he didn't think much about it.

But something went wrong soon. The hounds' position suddenly disappeared. Han Zu had no way of sensing their location. Without even thinking about it, Han Zu walked out of the warehouse and used his skills. The huge airdrop warehouse wrapped him up and he disappeared in front of the warehouse.

"Boom... Squeak~"

The airdrop cabin landed steadily on the ground, steam gushing out. The hatch opened, and Han Zu walked out, looking around at the surrounding environment.

The hounds seemed to have run very far. This was a lake far away from City C. Although the scenery here was nice, Han Zu had no interest in looking at it.

Not far from the landing site, Han Zu saw familiar huge footprints. They belonged to two hounds. Judging from the spacing and shape of the footprints, they seemed to be chasing something.

Han Zu released the swarm of bees, divided them into two groups, and searched the scene in the direction of the hounds' footprints. Han Zu tried to call back the hounds, but failed.

The sudden disappearance of the hounds made Han Zu very anxious and irritated. If he maintained this emotion, he would not be able to analyze the clues calmly. Han Zu took out an "Extinction Order" and used smoke to calm himself.

The swarm quickly found useful information and switched perspective. Han Zu saw another set of footprints in the direction of the hounds' footprints. They were human shoe prints. Judging from the size and depth of the shoe prints, the person should be very strong, about 190 cm tall. Judging from the spacing and shape of the shoe prints, he should be following the hounds' footsteps.

The swarm of bees in front continued to search along the hounds' footprints and found the direction the hounds were chasing, which was the lake not far away.

Han Zu used the swarm of bees and quickly rushed to the lake after making sure there was no other information around.

When they arrived at the lake, the hounds' footprints disappeared on the shore. Judging from the footprints, they should have rushed into the lake without slowing down. The human's shoe prints stopped on the shore, and they should have stood there for a while before leaving.

Using the swarm of bees, Han Zu saw that the human footprints extended to the side of the road and then disappeared. They must have left by some means of transportation.

After taking back the swarm of bees, Han Zu stretched his body and suddenly jumped into the lake.

The lake water was not turbid, so Han Zu's visual range was very far. Observing the situation in the lake, Han Zu found many fish. Some of them were abnormal and were circling around one location.

Han Zu swam over by waving his limbs and found an underwater cave. The entrance of the cave was just big enough for him to enter.

Holding on to the edge of the cave, Han Zu swam in. After a few minutes, Han Zu found a place that was not flooded by the lake and swam to the shore.

This is a dead end, but the ground and rock walls are covered with moss and are filled with messy marks. However, because there are too many marks, it is difficult to analyze what caused them.

Leaving here and continuing to swim towards the bottom of the lake, Han Zu moved a long distance, and judging from the increasingly weak light, the depth of this lake seemed to be beyond the normal range.

A strange red light flashed in his eyes, and his vision returned to normal again. Han Zu felt the attraction of the water. This attraction was so strong that it gradually changed the direction of Han Zu's movement.

Following the direction where the attraction came from, Han Zu swam over faster and found a whirlpool underwater. There was a bright light flashing in the whirlpool. Without thinking much, Han Zu dived directly into the whirlpool and let it pull his body.

The vortex carried Han Zu's body, spinning faster and faster. The moment it turned the water flow above it into a tornado, the vortex suddenly disappeared with Han Zu.

The lake bottom returned to calm, as if nothing had happened.

A few seconds later.

Han Zu appeared in an unfamiliar place, or more precisely, in the air. His body fell rapidly in the direction of the flashing light. Han Zu was ready for the impact, but just as he was about to touch the ground, the force of his fall suddenly disappeared, and his huge body landed gently on the ground.

Standing firmly on the ground, Han Zu released the swarm of bees and observed the surrounding environment. He found that he was now on a huge floating island. The surrounding clouds were a strange pink color, and visibility was very low. Lightning flashed in the clouds, but strangely, he could not hear the sound of the lightning at all.

Below the floating island were several huge thrusters in operation, spewing out huge compressed flames, but again, no sound could be heard.

Han Zu tried snapping his fingers, but no sound was heard. He walked a few steps on the ground and everything was normal. Han Zu suspected that there was something wrong with his ears, so he stretched out a finger to clean his ears. However, as soon as he put his finger in front of his face, he found something strange.

Han Zu discovered that his palms were slowly crystallizing. Half of his palms were covered with transparent crystals like scales. Under the surrounding environment and light, they reflected pink light. He stretched out his hands and found that the other hand was the same. He touched his face with his unaffected fingers and found that many crystals appeared. His ears were the worst affected and had been completely crystallized. Maybe this was the reason why he couldn't hear anything.

However, there seemed to be something in his body trying to stop the crystallization process. Han Zu could feel his heartbeat and blood flow speeding up, but its power seemed insufficient. It could only slow down the crystallization process but could not stop it completely.

Han Zu decided to help it. After all, what could be more loyal than one's own body?

Since most of Han Zu's exposed skin had become crystallized, such as his chin, he couldn't open his mouth, but this didn't seem to be a problem for him.

Thick smoke came out from the gap in Han Zu's mouth that had not yet been completely crystallized and sealed. Then, the crystallized skin around his mouth began to burn fiercely from the inside. The pitch-black flames broke through the cage and saw the light of day again. Of course, because he did not hold back his strength and allowed the flames to rage, the price he paid was that the lower half of Han Zu's face was burned off, revealing the bones and teeth inside.

The pain made Han Zu extremely sober at this moment, and he made an even crazier move.

The disappearance of the skin caused Han Zu to lose control of the flame. He could not control the exact position of the flame's emission, nor the size of the flame. Now he could only burn at maximum power.

Han Zu lowered his head and hugged his head with his arms, forming a small space. The pitch-black flames gushed out without reservation and instantly burned his head.

The highly sticky black flame burned away the crystallized area in a few seconds, exposing the bones. The severe pain caused by spontaneous combustion made Han Zu suffer a lot, so he decided to speed up the process.

He knelt on the ground and curled himself up into a ball. The flames gushed out again with all his strength, and his entire body was turned into a black fireball. Han Zu did not move, nor did he make any sound, but just kept increasing the output of the flames.

Soon, the pain disappeared, the flames on his body went out, and Han Zu stood up.

He stretched out his hand and found that only bones were left of his arm. The color of the bones had turned as black as the flames, and the surface of the bones had become extremely rough, as if they were made of frosted material.

He looked at other parts of his body and found that he had now turned into a sturdy black skeleton, and those crystals could no longer have any effect on him.

He opened his mouth and emitted flames again, but since he had now become a skeleton, flames gushed out from the gaps between his bones, and he turned into a burning skeleton.

Han Zu shrugged and felt that it didn't seem to matter. Although he had turned into a giant skeleton, he could now hear normal sounds, although he didn't know how a skeleton could hear the sounds.

"Click! Click!"

Han Zu continued to move forward. The huge skeleton made a low friction sound. Han Zu found that there were all kinds of statues around him. They were all made up of scale-like crystals. It seemed that they should be other completely crystallized creatures.

The attempt to recall the released swarm of bees was successful, but the swarm returned very slowly. It took a full half hour for all of them to fly back, and a large number of crystals appeared on their bodies.

Fortunately, they were originally split from Han Zu's flesh and bones. He stuffed them into his own skeleton. Flames burst out, destroying the crystals and muscles on their bodies, leaving only the bones. In this way, a group of hornets with empty bones and no wings stayed on Han Zu's skeleton, which was very strange.

Han Zu lost his body and the wasps were homeless. In order not to hinder his movement, Han Zu stuffed them into his head through his empty eye sockets. When he walked, he occasionally made noises.

The flesh cannon on his arm was made up of more muscles, so now it was just an empty frame and could not fire. Han Zu could only put it back.

Han Zu continued to move forward along the creatures around him that had completely crystallized and turned into statues. Now that the swarm of bees had temporarily lost its function, he had to rely on himself for everything.

There are many buildings on the huge floating island, but most of them are bungalows, and there are no high-rise buildings. Around the buildings, Han Zu found a lot of damaged devices, and there were also many crystallized locations on them. It looks like a life-support device used to produce some kind of gas, which may be the gas that inhibits crystallization.

Using his bony fingers to peel off the crystals, Han Zu discovered that they were actually the fur and blood of some small animals. It seemed that these devices were destroyed by humans.

Although he turned into a skeleton, Han Zu's power did not disappear. Han Zu disassembled a life-support device and found a transparent container for storing compressed gas. Judging from the scale on the container, there should still be some gas left in it, but it was very little, probably enough for a small mouse.
