Farewell Flower Festival

Chapter 36 Ghost Market

Chaoyan spent the whole morning obsessing over the question of whether to kiss or not. She couldn't concentrate on anything she did. Sometimes she felt shy, sometimes depressed, sometimes irritated, sometimes frustrated... She felt like she would go into schizophrenia if she continued to obsess over this issue, so she decided to go out and relax.

In order to avoid being entangled by troublesome people, Chaoyan changed into men's clothes and told Feicui and Amber that if they saw Eunuch Wu, they should tell him that she was going out and would be back before dinner.

Originally, she changed into men's clothes to avoid being harassed by men, but Chao Yan forgot that men could also be harassed by men.

Not long after arriving on the street, Chaoyan was harassed by a dandy young man who seemed to be interested in men. It was the first time he had seen a young man as handsome as her, so he stopped her on the street.

"Young man, please accompany me to have dinner~" The other person stretched out a dirty hand to touch Chaoyan's face, but before he could stretch it out, another hand pinched his pig's hoof. The other person grimaced in pain and shouted to let go.

Han Lie took his hand back and said with a smile: "Go away."

When the young master saw the golden unicorn hanging around his waist, he fled with his servant.

Just as Chaoyan was about to slip away quietly, a hand grabbed the back of her collar, and another hand naturally put her shoulders, like two brothers. Han Lie leaned over and whispered in her ear, "Little Lianzi is really attracting attention." Chaoyan said, "I'll count to three, stay away from me, one, two, three." As soon as he finished counting, Han Lie took two steps back and raised his hands to show that he would not touch her anymore.

"Where are you going dressed like this?" Han Lie asked.

Chao Yan didn't answer and turned away.

Han Lie followed and asked, "Is the Fourth Prince not suspected by anyone?" Chao Yan asked, "Suspected of what?" Han Lie said, "Has Little Lianzi forgotten what happened in Jinyu Garden the day before yesterday so quickly?"

"The person died the night before yesterday. Your Highness was in the mansion all night, so he didn't have time to kill anyone." Chao Yan said.

Han Lie said, "But some people don't think so. If the Fourth Prince can't catch the murderer, he may not be able to prove his innocence." At this point, he changed the subject and said, "Xiao Lianzi, do you want to go to the ghost market to take a look?"

As soon as Chaoyan heard the word ghost market, she immediately became interested. After all, she had only seen ghost markets on TV dramas. It would be even better if she could experience it in person. However, she still wanted to ask more clearly.

"Why did you take me to the ghost market? Are you planning to sell me off?"

Han Lie said: "If I sell you, where can I find a pretty girl like you?"

Chao Yan raised her hands to cover her ears, refusing to be harassed.

Han Lie smiled, and when Chao Yan put down his hand, he said, "I heard that the Fourth Prince seemed to have gone to the Ghost Market. I guess the murderer is hiding in the Ghost Market."

Chao Yan glanced at him suspiciously, "Are you spying on His Highness?"

Han Lie said: "I don't have the time to spare, I'm just paying attention to it as Big Brother instructed."

"You quite listen to your elder brother." Chao Yan said.

Han Lie smiled and said, "Big Brother is the person I respect the most in this world. I will kill anyone who harms Big Brother."

Chaoyan complained about her brother complex in her heart, and then thought of her elder brother in another time and space. She could also understand Han Lie's thoughts, but her approach would not be so extreme. She would use her own way to teach a lesson to those green tea girls and green tea boys who tried to snatch her elder brother and sister-in-law.

"So, Xiao Lianzi, don't fall in love with Big Brother. Big Brother already has someone he likes." Han Lie said with a smile.

Chao Yan thought that you were overthinking it, and that she didn't have such a fetish, so she asked curiously, "Who does your elder brother like?"

Han Lie raised his hand and shushed him, "It's a secret. If Big Brother knew I told others, he would definitely be angry." He curled his lips and smiled, "But after we get married, I can tell Xiao Lianzi."

Chao Yan covered her ears and refused to be harassed.

……

When the two walked to the ghost market, the gate just opened.

Chaoyan looked around and didn't see Mu Tianling. Han Lie pulled her and followed the crowd into the ghost market.

This whole scene was seen by Mu Tianling who was sitting on the second floor of the teahouse. He clenched the teacup in his hand and his eyes suddenly turned cold.

Qian Feng also saw the two of them and said, "Miss Xiao Lian should be here to look for her master."

Mu Tianling's gaze slightly turned away, and Qianfeng stopped talking.

After most people outside the gate had gone in, Mu Tianling brought Qianfeng and Feiyu down from the second floor and into the Ghost Market.

The strange things sold in the ghost market and the uniquely shaped signboards and flags made Chao Yan experience an unprecedented sense of freshness. Han Lie seemed to be quite familiar with the terrain and shops inside. He led Chao Yan while introducing her to the shops along the way.

An old man performing a monkey show attracted Chao Yan's attention.

Many people around were clapping and cheering, and Chao Yan also went over to join in the fun.

The monkey is very clever and seems to understand human language.

After the performance, the monkey held a cloth bag and asked for tips from the onlookers. Chaoyan took out a silver coin from her purse and was about to put it into the bag, but she accidentally met the monkey's eyes. Her face changed and she took a few steps back as if she was very frightened. The silver coin in her hand fell to the ground.

The monkey picked up the silver change, put it in a cloth bag, and hopped back to the old man.

"I thought you were very brave, but I didn't expect you to be scared by a monkey." Han Lie teased.

Chaoyan didn't want to listen to this. Her attention was all on the monkey. What happened just now? Did she see it wrong?

The old man seemed to notice that something was wrong with Chao Yan, and patted him on the shoulder. The monkey jumped up nimbly, and the man and the monkey went deep into the ghost market.

Chaoyan hesitated for two seconds and called Han Lie to follow.

"Is there something wrong?" Han Lie asked curiously.

Chao Yan said: "Just follow and you will know."

The two followed the old man through many twists and turns, and finally arrived at a secluded place that even Han Lie had never been to.

A red lantern is hung at the entrance of the alley. The dark red light shines into the dim and deep alley, creating a creepy and eerie atmosphere, like the set in a horror movie, which makes people feel creepy.

The old man's hunched figure walked into the alley.

Chao Yan hesitated whether to go in, and then heard an old and hoarse voice coming from the alley.

"I've been following you all the way. Come in and have a cup of tea."

Han Lie responded: "Sorry to bother you then."

"Do we really want to go in?" Chaoyan looked at the red lantern that exuded an ominous aura and got goosebumps all over her body.

Han Lie said, "If you are scared, Xiao Lianzi, just wait here. I will be back soon." He changed the subject and said, "But there are many weirdos in this ghost market. Xiao Lianzi should be careful when she is alone."

After saying that, he walked away. Chao Yan glanced at the gloomy environment around her. It felt as if a monster would jump out at any time. She shouted to Han Lie, "Wait a minute." Han Lie stopped and waited for her to come over.

The two walked to the end of the alley and stopped at the door of a small shop. There was also a red lantern hanging on the door. The dark red light illuminated the old sign, which read "Lantern Shop".
