HP: Hogwarts, but pro-generation
Chapter 191 Thinking
Anna, Lawrence, and the Abbotts arrived at Priest Manor ten minutes after Xia and the others returned.
Anna found the note left by Ander at home. For a moment, she felt her heart stop beating. Lawrence found that his wife had not made any sound since she went upstairs and the time she spent was definitely longer than normal. He realized that something was wrong.
When he hurried to Anna's room, he saw a heartbreaking scene. Once, when he found out that he fell in love with Anna, he swore that he would never let Anna cry, and he would always support her - although small frictions were inevitable, Anna had never been like this before, sitting on the ground with a dazed look in her eyes and a weak body.
"Anna, my dear--" Lawrence rushed into the room and knelt on the ground. He hugged Anna in his arms. Soon he felt a wetness on his chest and Anna cried.
Lawrence stroked Anna's hair, reassuring her over and over again that he would always be there, and that he would accompany her. Lawrence hoped from the bottom of his heart that nothing worse would happen, and he hoped it wouldn't be Ander - that's not to say he hoped that something would happen to Xia, but he also couldn't accept another child being in danger. He believed from the bottom of his heart that he was not a strong father, nor a brave father, nor a good father. This feeling was particularly strong after he saw Ander's note.
He couldn't show any timidity in front of Anna, at least he couldn't let Anna worry about him anymore. Lawrence still tried to calm Anna down, and after she calmed down a lot, he said they were going to Priest Manor, but before that they had to inform the Abbotts, Dumbledore, Oswin, and Joshua.
After Oswin and Fiona found out about this, they started to move around the Ministry of Magic. When they were young, they had some power and prestige. Joshua and Caroline had been traveling abroad and had not returned. This happened suddenly, and they needed to apply for the Floo Network, fireplace, and door keys in advance. Even if it was an emergency, it would take time.
None of them could have imagined that the boys would sneak over while their elders were not in the manor, and even go to Lestrange Manor! But Lawrence was still somewhat fortunate, at least Ender left a letter for them. He swore that Fleamont and Euphemia had no idea where James and Sirius had gone!
"Karl, yes, we can find Karl!" Anna suddenly thought of the elf, "Can he stop the children?"
Anna asked uncertainly while calling the elf. Yes, if Ander gave an order, Carl could not disobey or resist.
"Ender wouldn't give such an order," Laurence said. This was not a consolation, but one that he was really sure Ender wouldn't do.
Anna understood what Lawrence meant. She nodded, then looked at the position in the void and was about to call out Karl's name, but the sudden appearance of the elf disrupted their plan.
Carl stared with his big eyes and spoke intermittently, "Master Ander...Lestrange Manor..."
Anna and Lawrence's hearts suddenly tightened. Merlin, no way——
They stared at Karl closely, hoping to hear something other than what they thought. Karl continued, “In the manor…Miss Xia…come back…”
Karl's words were still intermittent. Anna was a little unsure what she heard. She asked anxiously: "Come back? What do you mean come back? How are Xia and Ander? Has Ander left the manor?"
Karl sniffed hard, and then he said all the words completely. After he finished speaking, Anna found that she almost fell off the sofa, but then more joy occupied her and Lawrence's hearts: Xia... is back?
Lawrence quickly stood up and used the patronus to notify the people they needed to notify. Soon, Mr. and Mrs. Abbott arrived at the house. They were the first to be notified. Fleamon and Euphemia were relieved. They said that as long as the children came back, it would be fine.
"I don't know how Albus stays energetic." Flement's voice came from the Patronus. Lawrence laughed, and the heavy feeling in his heart disappeared. He felt that anything could make him happy. Even if the weeds in the yard grew one centimeter taller, he could sigh: Life.
But no matter how happy they are, they still need to confirm it again. I can't believe that their vigilance is so low that they start to relax before even confirming it.
Priest Manor has its own protective magic, just like most of the manors of big families, unless the heir of the manor goes there or brings someone with him, other people can't find the location at all. Oswin said he would take Dumbledore with him, so the next second when the Abbotts arrived, the two couples couldn't wait to leave again.
Carl returned to the manor after delivering the letter. He went to report the news as soon as he saw Xia coming back. He didn't expect that after he came back, his master hadn't helped the young lady up and was still asking questions! Carl was attracted to the living room by the loud noise. He spoke to Master Ander without any courtesy. Fortunately, Master Ander was not angry and even thanked him.
When Anna, Lawrence and Mr. and Mrs. Abbott arrived at Priest Manor, they only saw the boys in the living room. James said considerately, "Xia and the others are in the room, and Ander has gone upstairs."
Anna smiled at him and went upstairs with Mrs. Albanese, followed by Lawrence and Mr. Albanese.
Christian looked at the scene in front of him, and his thoughts drifted back to his childhood. At that time, his mother would still smile at him and Felix, but her smile became blurred as he grew up. To be honest, he almost forgot what it felt like to be loved and spoiled by his parents, but he didn't need that. He just needed to find a way to keep Felix alive. After that, everything about Greengrass had nothing to do with him. He had been instilled with the idea of shouldering the Greengrass family since he was a child, and he was tired of hearing it. Why him? Why didn't they think about Felix? If possible, he would rather Felix live a stable life. He loved Greengrass more than himself.
"I'm leaving now. If you need anything, you can talk to Greengrass's house elf."
"Gone?" James looked at Christian in surprise, "Oh my God, brother, what are you thinking? Anna and Lawrence will not let you go if they know you brought the message."
He saw that Christian's face looked a little bad, and he asked puzzledly: "What's wrong, you look like you have a stomachache."
Christian didn't want to talk to this dumb Gryffindor anymore.
"He's just worried about being scolded," Sirius said calmly, "After all, it was his news that brought us here."
James was horrified. "Why would you think so? If you ask me, I can't wait to go to Lestrange Manor. I don't know how they got out, but now is not the right time to ask this question. Oh, I got it wrong. They won't scold you. If you hadn't told us, who would know the exact location of Lestrange Manor?"
James saw that his words did not comfort Christian, but made him even more upset. He sighed, "At most he said he would discuss it with the adults. Who would really listen to that? Besides, we haven't gotten there yet. It's unfair to be scolded like this! I won't accept it."
James smiled and touched Sirius' shoulder, who returned his affirmative look.
But when James looked at Christian, he was shocked again: "Merlin, brother, are you serious?"
"I am," Sirius said.
"Brother, your joke is not funny anymore. Can't you see that poor Christian is about to break into pieces?" James pretended to pinch the non-existent fragments in the air. "I don't know if the repair spell can stick him together. It seems that he still doesn't believe us. When will Anna and Lawrence come down? Should we go upstairs?"
"I just realized today that you talk so much." Sirius frowned and looked at James.
The two men looked at each other in silence, and then each of them held up Christian.
James said: "This is a countermeasure, a countermeasure to divert attention!"
"It's better to take them by surprise."
As they talked, they came to the door of Xia's room. Ander sat cross-legged by the door. To be honest, he looked a little embarrassed because he couldn't squeeze into the circle of adults. He saw three strange-looking people, but he didn't show any shock or confusion, as if he was used to this scene.
"Oh, Remus is often in your place," Ander explained to Christian, and he kindly patted the seat next to him, motioning for them all to sit down.
Christian felt a little sympathy for Lupin, but he still had to leave. Escape was shameful but effective, and he didn't have to worry about whether he would be thanked or scolded.
But Lawrence still saw Christian's little move to try to leave, and he stopped Christian.
